Clonidine usage

Common Questions and Answers about Clonidine usage

catapres

Avatar f tn The salt tablets and additional fludrocortisone along with fluid loading seem to have helped as well but the next drug on my list is Midodrine and after that Clonidine (beta blockers can exacerbate mast cell issues but I may try them anyway)......
Avatar f tn ve done two c/t detoxes and the second one I used clonidine. Even though my opiate usage was double the strength and length than the first detox, my second detox was way easier and I attribute this to the clonidine. I didn't even vomit. I took it quite often and I monitored my BP at home because I naturally have low blood pressure. I took it for 2-3 weeks, I can't remember. I'll take it again when I taper after detox. Chevy is right though- gotta change that addict behaviour.
707353 tn?1229416015 I stopped cold turkey and I'm on my 9th day. I still feel crappy, but much better than I did, say 2 days ago. I'd ask the doctor for Clonidine. It doesn't work for everyone, but it definitely worked for me. I've experienced only one side effect from it and that's blurry vision. It doesn't make me sick from that, but that only lasts for a little over a week and then your vision should return to normal. It's only blurry when looking at objects close to your face.
Avatar n tn After many years of trying to taper, my husband is going to get off Oxy's cold turkey. Clinics aren't an option because of his job. I know his usage is over 300 mgs a day but not sure of the number. He snorts them but says he has quit in preparation for this, but it is doubtful. Could someone give me the "Thomas Recipe" I think it is called of natural things that help during detox? I'm also trying to figure out whether or not to use Clonidine.
Avatar f tn Hello, It should take about 5 to 7 days for the physical part to be over with, with days 3 and 4 being the worst. It's different for everybody, depending on usage, length of time using, etc. There is the Thomas Recipe which you can find in the Health Pages if you scroll down to the bottom right side of the page. There's also an Amino Acid Protocol that have some supplements that will help as well.
Avatar n tn ing, they will help you out I have never once had someone say that the doctor said that they wouldnt help, what they will do is prescribe clonidine ( catapres) and a short amount of a benzodiazepine like lorazepam (ativan). the clonidine which is a godsend will help get rid of the hot.cold chills, flashes, goosebumps, shakes, muscle cramps,.
Avatar f tn I've been taking 20 to 30 mgs ( 3- 10-325's) for two months now. I'm going to quit, but I can't miss work with all the bad side effects. I've been listening quietly to all the remedies, any advice? And what's this stuff Clonidine? I tried to quit a week ago but caved in after two days, with most of the symptoms everyone else talks about. Never thought I'd let myself get in this situation, I actually have a prescription, but I don't want to take 'em anymore.
Avatar m tn one more thing, i do have some clonidine 0.1 mg, was thinking of using they in addition to sub to hopefully lower sub usage???thanks again, new to the board and is great to hear some of the success stories, there is hope i guess.
Avatar f tn I am taking the clonidine the ER doctors gave me on my last attempt to get off this highly addictive medication. I would suggest to you like the other lady not to jump from one addiction to the other. Just try to come off the methadone itself. The withdrawls are tough, but the worst is trying to stay clean afterwords. I am determined to stay off the subs before its ruins my life for good. Good luck with your sobriety as well.
10047460 tn?1407438406 Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.
Avatar m tn It is really amazing my pain is completely almost gone, with the exception of a little soreness. I have starting weaning myself from the oxy and was going to ask my doc for some clonidine. How much does it really help with the w/d symptoms?
Avatar m tn enybody got eny feed back clonidine it was given to me to help with withdraw from oxi and its not doing enygood going through hell right now I have about 7 days
401095 tn?1351391770 anyone use clonidine during WDs? What dose,,,just wondering..
Avatar f tn hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.
198154 tn?1337787265 s but only a caring doctor will give it, most would rather see you suffer....i took .1 mg of clonidine 3 times daily...worked tremendously well...if taking clonidine will help get you off your d.o.c.,...take it as your doctor has prescribed it...regardless of what you think MIGHT happen...it does help more than i can describe, i think it is a miracle drug for wd's. i took it for 10 days, then tapered for 3, it is not addictive, but you have to taper to avoid rebound high BP...
Avatar f tn second, my doctor prescribed two clonidine patches for me for any withdrawl symptoms. What do these do ? my doc said it woud basically knock me out...love that of course... but, i am hesitant because i had never heard of it... i know it is a little strange for a prescription lover to be afraid of a new drug...weird. but, i would like to hear about some experiences with people who have tried it before. Thank you so much.
Avatar m tn It really works. It will not make you 100% the same as if you were taking the percs but it helps with anxiety, sleeplessness and overall feeling like crap. My doctor gave me 1.0 milligrams with a refill. She is awesome. Yesterday was my full day 2 from all addictive substances (day 9 from Vicodin) and I had some anxiety late afternoon and evening. Took a pill each time and I was fine. Slept a full 8 hours.
Avatar f tn My methadone doctor suggested clonidine for these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it and I was wondering if it helps much, and is it worth even taking? Thanks for your responses...
Avatar f tn I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable. I know this is a slow and low taper, is it worth getting it?
Avatar f tn Day 10 got some Clonidine from my doctor, Praise the Lord. Helping some. I may get through this. Not crying as much but still feel overall like crap. How much longer???
656243 tn?1231288052 Hey eveyone. I was recently put on Clonidine to help with anxiety and I am currently on Effexor. Does anyone have any past experiences with Clonidine? Does it work? Do I have to build it up in my system? Thanks C.
Avatar f tn How long do you normally take clonidine for withdrawal symptoms from Oxycontin and Percocet?
349859 tn?1257790973 Does clonidine really help with easing some of the yucky wd feelings??
880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
