10047460 tn?1407438406 Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.
Avatar m tn I couldn't have done it without the clonidine. .1mg twice per day (right when you get up and right when you go to bed). It keeps your heart rate down, blood pressure down, and prevents most of the stomach cramps and I didn't have ANY RLS at all. It also causes constipation, which helps with the diaherria. Tried to quit twice before without it and couldn't do it. I would taper down as low as you can and start the clonidine as part of the taper...
Avatar f tn calcium/magnesium/zinc pick it up at walmart its 6 bucks take 4 in the morning and 4 at dinner time this should take away most of your withdrawals I would try this first it works for most if not then go to the doc and get clonidine good luck with your taper I tapered off 150mg so I know what your going threw it not uncommon get the vitamins they where God sent when I found out about them good luck and God bless........
Avatar f tn Hi there, I am tapering down from methadone, was at 130mgs two years ago, and am currently at 41mgs, now tapering 2mgs/ week. I know this is a low and slow taper but still I am not feeling so great. I keep getting hot flashes, nausea and going hot and cold, it's uncomfortable. My methadone doctor suggested clonidine for these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it and I was wondering if it helps much, and is it worth even taking? Thanks for your responses...
Avatar f tn second, my doctor prescribed two clonidine patches for me for any withdrawl symptoms. What do these do ? my doc said it woud basically knock me out...love that of course... but, i am hesitant because i had never heard of it... i know it is a little strange for a prescription lover to be afraid of a new drug...weird. but, i would like to hear about some experiences with people who have tried it before. Thank you so much.
Avatar f tn How long do you normally take clonidine for withdrawal symptoms from Oxycontin and Percocet?
Avatar m tn t know about it being addictive, but my doctor told me to taper off of it. I got all my advice on Clonidine from GA Guy who used to participate here (note to self to send him an email). If you're down to just a couple a day, I'd try skipping them and take the clonidine as directed and perhaps get something from your doctor to help with the anxiety which is sure to come..you could experience things like crying for no reason, mild panic attacks, etc.. You're almost there Mike...
Avatar m tn you will be fine...although you cant just stop the clonidine, you do have to taper just to prevent rebound high blood pressure...i was on it for 10 days then tapered off it in 5-6 days...it is not addictive...but go slow with the taper to protect yourself... great job getting off the suboxone! congratulations to you!
Avatar m tn so i just got out of the ER. i had a stroke 7 years ago and my leg was getting really numb again and i thought i was having another stroke. i told the dr. about my hydro addiction and he said that the symptoms i am having are from the w/d's. he gave me some clonidine(i think thats how its spelled) to get me off the tabs and its suppose to help with the w/d. anyone with any experience with this pill?
Avatar f tn I never heard of the clonidine patch, but clonidine itself is a blood pressure med that helps with withdrawal to ease the symptoms. Congrats on your taper hun..keep up the good work!!
Avatar f tn I finally managed to quit the opioids, and clonidine helped so much. But now I need to taper it,so it does not spike my blood pressure, and avoid the sweating that I get when I forget a dose.I'm taking 800 mg a day,200 mg /6hrs. Thanks for any help!!
Avatar f tn I understand that when you stop taking Clonidine, you must taper off because you can have a rebound effect. How does one taper off the patch?
Avatar f tn I've been taking a bit of codeine to help with oxy w/d (I've never had problems getting off codeine -- doesn't do anything for me), found some clonidine, and feel like a zombie. I have some valium, which helps a bit with sleep. Anyhoo, it's been a crappy withdrawal, but not as bad as the last one in rehab. Stopping the codeine tomorrow, back to work Tues., but it's still hard to walk a few blocks without sitting down. Mood is ghastly.
Avatar f tn hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.
Avatar n tn I have been tapering off opiates and I have clonidine and use it to sleep during the taper. I'm pretty sure opiates lower your blood pressure and so does clonidine, so can you take too much if you are combining them?
Avatar n tn if you are trying to taper off prescirbed opiates, can you still take clonidine at the same time?
Avatar n tn I went to the doc hoping he would put me back on subutex as I had no side effects from that the first 3 days-he said you should not be on subutex long term and gave me a clonidine patch that lasts 7 days. I really thought he would change the meds or change the dose. Anyway its probably best that I stay at a low dose anyway so its easier to get off later. If anyone has any info about this combo please let me know.
198154 tn?1337787265 s but only a caring doctor will give it, most would rather see you suffer....i took .1 mg of clonidine 3 times daily...worked tremendously well...if taking clonidine will help get you off your d.o.c.,...take it as your doctor has prescribed it...regardless of what you think MIGHT happen...it does help more than i can describe, i think it is a miracle drug for wd's. i took it for 10 days, then tapered for 3, it is not addictive, but you have to taper to avoid rebound high BP...
Avatar f tn I was perscribed Vicodin which helped but, the transition was a little hard, I still had to go through mild W/D from the Ultrim. Cold turkey is not the way to go with Ultrim, Taper is the best way, Clonidine helps with W/D symptoms a whole lot but, it will mak you very tired. I work in health care to and I was in a very bad MVA in 2003 which I continue to suffer from..
Avatar f tn at 15mg of percs. wondering if i should taper to 7.5 or C/T or use clonodine and how much? can't afford to be to sick becasue i care for my autistic grandaughter with no help.
Avatar m tn I've been on 0.5 for 6 mths. then when i went in this mth i asked to get on the .025..It's 3 times a day,But i feel that's still alot.....How do I taper off??Could you please give some advice??!!! I never want to go threw that withdraw like that EVER again!!!!! Please help!!!!!!!!!!!
142722 tn?1281533616 You don't need sub. You're on a good taper plan. Stick with that and stay strong. Take the clonidine as he directed and that's it. No more drugs Mommy...
1728764 tn?1310169433 It is great you are getting off. Before you go spending all that money....are you talking about Clonidine patches? If so, they do not "stop" withdrawal. They will help regulate your blood pressure, which tends to spike during the acute withdrawal stage, but that is all they will do. Since you managed to taper to 50 mgs, your withdrawal should be mild. If you experience symptoms let someone know and we can make recommendations. Hang on, you are almost there!
Avatar f tn The only thing I can say about clonidine is that I know someone who isnt an addict but became dependant on lortabs after a surgery,,not being an addict he had the ability to follow his drs tapering schedule and at the last weeks of his taper his dr had him wear a .02 clonidine patch, then .
Avatar f tn Do u think u can taper?? It does take self control, but it sounds like u can...Tapering will help so much, If so i can send u a taper plan.. how many do u have , if u decide to taper??? And no u are not weird about combining meds...LOL VERY smart!!!
Avatar f tn Yes Clonidine does help some. Also check out the Thomas Recipe for vitamins and supplements that will help too. And Larrys Recipe too. But don't take the xanax etc as that will just cause more problems.
