Avatar f tn The clonidine suppression test without normetanephrine measurements and the glucagon stimulation test are not sensitive enough to safely exclude phaeochromocytoma in patients with mildly elevated plasma or urine catecholamines." A number of times, one of the catecholamines or it's inactive metabolite counterparts, normetanephrine or metanephrine, have been above normal range in my own case. The highest level was norepinephrine at 515 (normal lab reference range went up to 399).
905502 tn?1245176370 I was very concerned about taking decadron for the suppression test, but I figured I needed an answer and in spite of my apprehension I started the doses. By the 7th dose .5 every 6 hours for 48 hours, I was feeling great. No more aches, I felt I could breath better and I had more energy than I have had in a long time. It is now the 2nd day of no dose and I'm starting to get achy, neck and lower back pain, and breathing is OK. Why was I feeling so much better? Is this significant?
Avatar m tn I had one test done in January when I had a small something on my forskin. Three doctors looked at it and 2 said it wasnt a herpes and one doctor said i looks like might be. So he ordered a test heres that results. :hsv, igm 1 2 combo 1.38 ratio .90, negative .91, equivocal .91-1.09, positive 1.09 herpies simplex virus 1 2 igg 53.0 index .8, negative .9, positive 1.0 Back in Januaary Grace in the forum pretty much told me that this test was pretty much a waist of money and time.
Avatar n tn what is the recommended dosages for the 3 main Herpes suppression treatments. I am overseas and have access to acyclovir. Does that seem to work the same as the other two?
Avatar n tn If so you need a blood test straight away to confirm. You should not be taking daily antivirals without a confirmed diagnosis. Being HSV1 can make a big difference. First, you probably do not need daily meds if this is the case. Second, it is likely that a partner will already have HSV1 and not become infected any further given the immunity.
Avatar m tn just taking the antiviral drugs DURING outbreaks? How successful are antivirals at suppression of coldsores as opposed to say genital herpes? This discussion is related to Treatment Options.
Avatar n tn How about giving us a little more info about your symptoms and your thyroid test results and maybe we could be more helpful.
Avatar m tn m having a hard time interpreting what that means because the lab included how to inteprent the ACTH Stimulation Test and the Dexamethasone Supression Test on the test. I started taking her to a holistic vet and I think she may have been looking at what the lab was saying for the ACTH test instead of the Low Dose Test. Would these results indicate positive for Cushings with the low dose test? I don't know what to do anymore.
Avatar m tn That said I am challenging disclosure - if aggressive treatment has kept it at bay and suppression is effective above 95%, are we building hysteria or unwarranted fear in ourselves and others in believing every attempt to a relationship must come with a near certain deal-killer? Note: The righteous need not reply....
Avatar f tn I had my blood test about 2 months ago with an HSV 2 igg of 1.56. I am going in for a physical and wondering if it would be pointless to test again. Also I vaguely remember getting tested years ago and the doc telling me that its nothing I should worry about. Any thoughts? Thanks! PS I currently and on suppression therapy.
Avatar f tn My doctor did a baseline cortisol test around 7pm. It was 1.65 mcg/dl. I asked her about it and she said that your levels change through out the day & didn't seem worried. Today I did a suppression test, I took dexamethasone last night at 11pm & got my blood drawn at 8am. I feel really awful today. Extremely tired, more than usual, even after drinking a Monster. Should I be concerned about the baseline test?
Avatar m tn Hello, I have read vitamin D3 is essential for a responsive/healthy immune system. Would an antibody test at 90 days be affected by a low level of vitamin D3, meaning would this delay the production of antibodies.
10905170 tn?1414131788 You might have misunderstood your doctor, either in the initial test report or his plan to do a typing test. From your report above, your blood test has already been typed as both HSV1 and HSV2. But maybe he has requested a Western blot test, which I already suggested above. Either way, it sounds like your doctor is on top of this and will be able to provide you with final answers pretty soon.
Avatar f tn Is there any possibility that this is a false negative due to immune issues flagged from pericarditis? After this time the test would still flag it?
Avatar f tn Hi, you should take antivirals at this point as will really help in limiting breakouts and aide in healing. I assume the test was a swab culture.
10047460 tn?1407438406 Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.
Avatar f tn Thus the reason for the foggy head/headache during the acute phase. The clonidine helped immensely and even helps with sleep.
Avatar m tn It is really amazing my pain is completely almost gone, with the exception of a little soreness. I have starting weaning myself from the oxy and was going to ask my doc for some clonidine. How much does it really help with the w/d symptoms?
