Avatar f tn hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing some episodes with quite a high pulse lately, and my doctors have told me that it is just sinus tachycardia. And they told me that I can try to stop the attacks by attempting the valsalva maneuver. The thing is, that when I do this, I get a really strange effect from it. During the valsalva you force air agains a closed glottis, and hold that pressure for maybe 10 sec. When i release the air, my heart acts REALLY weird.
Avatar m tn And did try some other heart meds...calcium channel blocker...one of them give bad reflex tachycardia... and try also an alpha 1 antagonist, minipress, who lead to reflex tachycardia as well and faint... Normally when you have an anxiety disorder the sympathetic nervous system or flight or fight is ON all the time who lead to high NE (noradrenaline and adrenaline) in the brain and blood, who affect the heart, but its not seem to be my problem...
Avatar f tn s office), It has gone as high as 240/160 but when I took a clonidine it plummeted to 90/46 and I went from tachycardia at 130 BPM to 49 BPM, leaving me feeling like I was going to pass out.
Avatar m tn I wouldn't taper any faster because I believe in very slow tapers...much milder symptoms but go by your doctor's advice. The clonidine should help. There's a doctor on the Expert Forum who says it's the absolute best med you can take for wd's! It's an old blood pressure med, also, so that helps. I'm sorry you're post was overlooked for a while...please post back and let us know how you're doing.

Avatar f tn I developed tachycardia that has seemed to persistently worsen as each year goes by. My resting heart rate is usually never less than 115bpm, and here lately it has been getting up in the 140s to 160s with minimal activity as simple as walking across a room, and it is pretty persistent throughout the day. I don't even think I would be able to tolerate exercise if I attempted it because of my HR. It got up to around 185 the other day and I was just standing up.
Avatar m tn I know that Tizanidine is similar to Clonidine and I have read that if you stop Atenolol while on Clonidine you could go into hypertensive crisis due to alpha antagonism. I am curious if this is also an issue with Tizanidine. I've read Tizandine is like 1/50th the potency of Clonidine but I'm not sure if there are any issues here. I am only taking 12.
Avatar m tn I was wondering is supra ventricular tachycardia and sinus tachycardia the same? was told by cardiologist that in svt the heart rate is much way higher than sinus tachycardia and svt does start and stop suddenly where sinus tachy gradually slows down on itself, just life after exercise etc. Also,In sinus tachycardia, the heart beats normally, and blood flow is not changed.
Avatar f tn Would someone let me know if I can use Ativan and Clonidine for opiate withdrawal? Anybody done it this way? Have never had a problem with benzo's. ONly stinkin opiates for 2 years. Please post. thanks.
Avatar f tn I have postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. The beta blocker Im on seems to lower my heart rate, but when I stand up to walk I still get chest and throat tightness, feel like my heart is beating in my throat, lightheadedness, and just a spaced out feeling. Does this every go away? Are there meds. for this? I dont want to sit all day and I would like to get back to work? Anyone else like this?
Avatar f tn "reflex bradycardia" is one possible explanation. I'm not an expert, but in essence the body might be "compensating" for elevated BP by lowering HR... kind of protecting from too high a BP. This is like the opposite side of the "classic explanation" for tachycardia during a BP drop... as the BP is falling for some reason, the HR is picked up to try to compensate.
Avatar f tn I don't think I'll even try the Diltiazem, kind of scares me based on lot of the negative reviews I've heard about it. I think drinking too much coffee in the mornings may have played a role in the tachycardia. I usually drink 1-4 cups of black coffee. Maybe I'll cut back to one cup and see how that works. I might ask about invabradine.
212161 tn?1599427282 Not Afib, not with the 10 in a row the way you describe them, sounds like a brief period of Tachycardia. Coughing causes a Vagal Response, the Vagus Nerve is connected to the heart and acts upon the heart's natural pacemaker, the SA Node, to slow the heart. Tachycardias that overdrive the SA node can often be interrupted by coughing and other Vagal Maneuvers.
Avatar f tn You should be tested for autonomic dysfunction. That can cause anxiety and tachycardia. I've had it since I was 15.
Avatar m tn hi, one guess is that you undergo a large degree of vasodilation in response to heat - and then you undergo 'reflex tachycardia' as your system compensates for a big drop in BP. But that scenario wouldn't seem to apply to when you do simple physical activity. Still, I'd get a home BP monitor and see what happens with your BP during these episodes.
212161 tn?1599427282 When the breath is released, the intrathoracic pressure drops and the trapped blood is quickly propelled through the heart, producing an increase in the heart rate (tachycardia) and the blood pressure. Immediately after this event a reflex bradycardia ensues." This can be dangerous for people with heart disease. Google this, it is very interesting.
10047460 tn?1407438406 Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.
Avatar f tn Thus the reason for the foggy head/headache during the acute phase. The clonidine helped immensely and even helps with sleep.
Avatar m tn It is really amazing my pain is completely almost gone, with the exception of a little soreness. I have starting weaning myself from the oxy and was going to ask my doc for some clonidine. How much does it really help with the w/d symptoms?
Avatar m tn enybody got eny feed back clonidine it was given to me to help with withdraw from oxi and its not doing enygood going through hell right now I have about 7 days
401095 tn?1351391770 anyone use clonidine during WDs? What dose,,,just wondering..
