clonidine prescribing information

i was wondering if anyone heard of clonidine and can give me any info id appriciate it my dr just perscribed it for me cause i have been having anxiety ALOT and trouble sleeping and its from going CT from vics thanks god bless you

I was finally given a prescription drug to try called clonidine which is actually a blood pressure drug that has been around for a long time. NOTE it is CLONIDINE NOT klonipine. I later found out that this same drug is helpful when going through withdrawal. It is a prescription med but your GP or family doc might be willing to help you out by prescribing this. The dosage I take for my restless leg is .1 mg but my doc writes the prescription for .2 mg and I break them in half.

But the best thing to do with medication interactions is to make sure every provider knows what the other is prescribing. And psychiatrists can easily access a database of information to see what could happen and if you ask them to there's no reason they can't check for you. Knowing a medication can cause side effects, even long term ones is information people should know and doesn't prevent people from taking mediation. I know the Zofran can cause liver damage.

Theres no otc pain relievers that Im aware of that have negative interaction with clonidine, and yes you can take immodium. I take clonidine still to this day for my blood pressure and I use naproxen, aspirin,tylenol etc. and I was taking immodium during my detox while on clonidine. If you want to be safe go to drugs.com and look up clonidine and it will tell you all the possible interactions it can have. As far as I know there shouldnt be anything to worry about.

My doc prescribed me some 0.3 clonidine tablets ,he said it would get me thru the nasty WD ,he only gave me a script 4 six of them which is three days worth I'm suppose 2 take 1 n the am & anotha in the pm starting 2morrow 4 the next 3 days&he said I shouldn't experience any WD while. I'm on them ,just the mental part. Which ill b following up with aftercare,has or does anybody out there have any knowledge about this clonidine??????

My 17 year old takes Vyvanse for ADHD and help with anger , he takes that in the morning then at night Clonidine. At night I accidentally gave him Vyvanse and his clonidine because I thought I didn’t give him his meds ( clonidine) but later I checked the morning meds and there was one missing which means I gave him both! Me n him were confused and didn’t realize until the end. Will this hurt him ? Should I be concerned.

I know this is an OLD thread yall.. but everyone had some really good stories..and yes, they're still prescribing Clonidine for BP, Anxiety, ADD/HD and I guess it also helps BOOST the antidepressant I'm taking? I was just written yesterday for it.. but my problem is, I have been on Oxys for two years for other issues.. (different presciber), and I'm thinking that the one may cancel out the Other? If they use it for WD.. which MD didn't mention that.

anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?

I finally managed to quit the opioids,and clonidine helped so much.But now I need to taper it,so it does not spike my blood pressure,and avoid the sweating that I get when I forget a dose.I'm taking 800 mg a day,200 mg /6hrs. Thanks for any help!!

The last time I asked my Doc for something that would help the withdrawals. He prescribed Clonidine. It is a heart medication that reduces the heart rate. It helps the jittery, heart beating out of your chest feeling but it also helps everything else. I dont have diarrhea, no body aches, upset stomach, not even anxiety or grumpiness. I just feel a little groggy and sluggish, nothing thats not manageable.

Lofexidine is not available in the US but it is very similar to Clonidine so it will be helpful for the creepy-crawly feeling and control of blood pressure variations. It will make your withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter. The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months. Thus, it is not easy, but it gets better and better over time and you can look forward to a drug free healthy energetic you in the future.

How long do you normally take clonidine for withdrawal symptoms from Oxycontin and Percocet?

i have high blood pressure (and clonidine is a blood pressure med), but my doctor is mainly prescribing it for me as a SLEEP AID to try to keep me off of the benzos for sleep purposes (which have always worked so well for me!)....i'm curious about two things though.....one, how much has anyone taken strictly for sleep purposes? and two, have you had ANY problems stopping it if you want/need to?

Was given ( 4) 7 day Clonidine 0.2mg patches for Norco W/D . I am now on jump day #7 , been on the patch 10 days feeling better day by day very mild W/D now , But think the patch is keeping me tired . Will i have a problem if i remove the patch now .

I made an appointment with my doctor to try clonidine on Monday morning but on Sunday evening I came down with the flu my son had the week before. I took my last pill (20mg oxy 4 a day for 1 year) about the same time the flu started so I know it's not w/d. I am now on day 2 clean and it has been the worst 2 days of my life. I not only have 104 fever with a bad dry cough, runny nose and sore throat but I am also getting major hypertension (waking up every 30 minutes with big twitches).

Hello, My doctor put me on Clonidine one day when he all of a sudden decided to stop prescribing pain meds after 3 years and it didn't work well for me. That is not to say it doesn't work well for others, but I didn't have much success with it. The problem also with Clonidine is if you are in real bad withdrawal and take too much, it can drop your blood pressure really low which is extremely dangerous.

A good doctor will help and give suggestions.. Where is she getting the meds? She should speak to the doctor prescribing her the meds.. its best to be totally honest with her doctor.. Best of luck and God bless you and your daughter.

Just looking for anymore information or advise about withdraws from Fioricet / I have been taking this medication from years from Migrain headaches, it's seemed the longer I was on it the less it helped so I would increase my doses because I could not get rid of my headaches the other day I just stopped using it because it was like just this non stop headache.

Now that my arthrits is properly treated,i did not need them,and stopped with Clonidine,by myself..But the Clonidine is not working like it used to be,and I cannot sleep because of the night sweats.summer is coming,and it will be harder with the hot weather.No kidding,but sometimes I fell worst than when tapering opioids.Wish I had taken more time,and stopped very slow without clonidine..i have the 0.1 and 0.2 ones.They are cheap,and i can buy how many I want..but want my life and sleep back..

1mg on clonidine this morning. It is not hleping. For those who have used clondine for help with wd, what was your dosing amount? Is .1mg a low amount? Should that be helping her at this point? Does anyone know the usually dosing amounts to help for severe wd or what the max allowable for clonidine? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The doctor gave his the basics pharagan, clonidine, ect. I have an appointment with a place for tomorrow for suboxone but they want him detoxed 48 hours before they will take him and then classes 3x a week/4hrs a day and he doesn't wanna do that. I just don't know what to do..

His doctors have him on several meds that are always being changed every 6 months or so to try to find something that will help. right now he is on Adderal, Strattera, Abilify, Risperdal, and Clonidine. My sone has been this way sine the age of 2 and has progressivly gotten worse. I need help! I don't want to see him wove in with his father but I can't let him hurt me and my family anymore.
