clonidine patch side effects

Except for the delivery device its honestly not that different from other mood stabilizers in good effects and side effects although clearly for no one would it be used as a first line choice but then again its never been suggested as one. The world and people and their effect on me seem a bit toned down so that certainly must be one sign its working.

It all makes sense but I think one thing we should be careful of here is when we use the term "doctor". Some people feel more comfortable referring to a psychiatrist as a doctor and a psychiatrist is of course a medical professional but some people don't have good health insurance and a standard physician prescribes their psychiatric medications which is not advisable.

For the last 5 yrs I've been taken the clonidine patch for high BP, no side effects, but the PVC's are still there off and on.

he said this could be done safely and with no side effects...way he ever wrong. I suffered for 2 weeks with depression, no sleep...the regular things a person goes through when detoxing. You can try suboxone if it is available where you are. I never tried it but there are some here that say it saved their life. Good luck to you and keep posting. I’m pretty sure clondine is a high blood pressure medication to reduce hypertension. It sounds like some side effects of taking clonidine may be helpful with w/d's. I haven’t tried it for that, yet, however, I took it once to reduce my BP and I accidentally took too much and I was literally walking sideways, my BP got dangerously low....(if that happens, drink lots of H2o), so, IMO, I would be very careful with it and take a very low dose. It’s nothing to mess around with….

I was prescribed Clonidine for my Fentanyl patch WD symptoms. I think it helped me a little through the first symptoms, but it was a painfull process. I don't think you can ever take all the pain out of WD; it is inevitable. I was told to take it at night, but found it was actually keeping me awake. One of the side effects is insomnia, which is one of the last things I need, so I stopped taking it after a couple of weeks.

I am reluctant to dd in any other pills, but I need some relief. Any experience with this drug? Side effects? Does it actually do anything? Thanks.

Ok, so I'm slowly tappering off suboxones. I've heard of many on here talk about using a clonidine transdermal patch to help with w/d's. So I was able to obtain a descent amount of this - - only in tablet form, from a relative - - catapres O.2mg tabs.

I hope some one will answer your query about the side effects of clonidine. I dis not find any side effect relating to sexual problems with clonidine in the webpage. You may research further or alk the doctor who has prescribed it.

Since then we found out that Risperidone is know for side effects such as tardive dyskinesia. We are seriously concerned now. Will this be permanent ? What is the best way to examine this problem ? Thanks for any suggestions !

The problem could be due to a side effect from your medication. Side effects can be nervousness and anxiety, and that could cause a tremor. Or it could be the start of essential tremor usually is seen when you are using your hands, while the tremor associated with Parkinson's typically occurs when your hands are at rest. You may want to see a neurologist to rule that out. "Shaky hands due to anxiety, but to reach this diagnosis, a physician must first rule out physical causes.

How does it help, what w/d symptoms does it alleviate, and are there bad side effects or withdrawal symptoms from the clonidine itself if taken for 5 days or so? Has anyone tried it?

I went to the doc hoping he would put me back on subutex as I had no side effects from that the first 3 days-he said you should not be on subutex long term and gave me a clonidine patch that lasts 7 days. I really thought he would change the meds or change the dose. Anyway its probably best that I stay at a low dose anyway so its easier to get off later. If anyone has any info about this combo please let me know.

s important to notify your doc about it - depending on how high your fever is, they may ask you to remove the patch tmeporarily - for the same reason as avoiding other heat sources - too much medication can be released. When I was using the patch (I had to stop it due to negative side effects), one time I had a fever of 103.6 from strep throat and my doc had me remove the patch until my fever was below 100 (and use my BT meds during that time).

anyone know how long the clonidine patch takes to start working, I started using it last night for opiate withdrawls. 6 yrs. of use and it is time to end this vicious cycle; i was taking 60 mg. methadone for a back problem a day. today is day 2.

sorry everyone my docter gave me the clonidine iam just tired of the pain patch its not working any more and he wants to movee me up in dose i used to be on pills but it was to easy to take extra when my pain got worse and then i would run out early and i would go threw awful withdrawls i got hurt at work and messed up my l-4l-5 and i do not want surgery i feel like if i get some wait off i might be able to deal with the pain i just cant stand being on something that controls my body i was just

My doc prescribed me some 0.3 clonidine tablets ,he said it would get me thru the nasty WD ,he only gave me a script 4 six of them which is three days worth I'm suppose 2 take 1 n the am & anotha in the pm starting 2morrow 4 the next 3 days&he said I shouldn't experience any WD while. I'm on them ,just the mental part. Which ill b following up with aftercare,has or does anybody out there have any knowledge about this clonidine??????

I realized these were all side effects of this patch. The side effects of the patch so adversely effected my life I decided to take it off one night. I went through a detox like you'd never imagine. I had hallucinations, vomitting etc. I had no idea what I had done. I put the patch back on, and weened myself off of it over the next two weeks. I just couldn't live that way. I know how much it helps and would never tell anyone not to use. I may need it in the future.

Zofran has been shown to work experimentally as well as the natural remedy rhodiola (when taken under the supervision of a neurologist). Clonidine is patch form is markedly helpful for me as well as a person with advanced tardive dyskinesia in addition to some of the other treatments mentioned. But have a neurologist who is a movement disorders specialist confirm it first.

Unfortunately, the muscle relexants I take for my physical disability are activating and keep me up until mid morning though I think when the Clonidine hits the proper dose and I can transfer to the patch form that should help that as well as the fact that when I was on it I was able to be out and about and after I stopped it the physical disability returned and I became homebound and would like in time for spring to get back to the outside world (besides daily walks).
