Avatar n tn But I took clonidine while tapering off opiates (prescribed) and then increased the dose when I was tired of tapering and just wanted off (cold turkey off 100 mg oxy 27 days ago). It really helped me with a lot of the w/d symptoms especially the gastric and anxiety. Did a doctor prescribe the clonidine? Do they know about your taper? Clonidine is commonly prescribed for opiate detox. Let me know if you need anything....
Avatar n tn I went to the doc hoping he would put me back on subutex as I had no side effects from that the first 3 days-he said you should not be on subutex long term and gave me a clonidine patch that lasts 7 days. I really thought he would change the meds or change the dose. Anyway its probably best that I stay at a low dose anyway so its easier to get off later. If anyone has any info about this combo please let me know.
585414 tn?1288941302 When I tried to stop the clonidine my pain returned. I tried to just take the clonidine and that didn’t work. Now with the low dose of oxy and clonidine I have relief from the severe pain and can live a more normal life.
Avatar f tn One thing you might consider is employing Strattera ( a non-stimulant) to treat the ADHD and to divide the Clonidine dose over the day to address the oppositionality. In other words, ask the doctor about giving some at night (he might not actually require .2 mg at night) and then even a quarter of a pill in the morning and perhaps after school.
401554 tn?1270213756 For the last 5 yrs I've been taken the clonidine patch for high BP, no side effects, but the PVC's are still there off and on.

585414 tn?1288941302 Unfortunately, the muscle relexants I take for my physical disability are activating and keep me up until mid morning though I think when the Clonidine hits the proper dose and I can transfer to the patch form that should help that as well as the fact that when I was on it I was able to be out and about and after I stopped it the physical disability returned and I became homebound and would like in time for spring to get back to the outside world (besides daily walks).
Avatar n tn Have been getting what they call Hot flashes for over 1 year, mine our Hot Events as it last for days not minutes, I have been using an estogen patch that has been working for 6 months, now it back to happening just like at first every 1 -2 weeks for 1 full day and night, sometimes almost 3 days. I don't know what to do. My gynocologist says i am on the highest dose of the patch. don't know what to do.

Avatar m tn anyone know how long the clonidine patch takes to start working, I started using it last night for opiate withdrawls. 6 yrs. of use and it is time to end this vicious cycle; i was taking 60 mg. methadone for a back problem a day. today is day 2.
585414 tn?1288941302 I know depression can vary in how it occurs and I would be interested to know if people have experienced dissociation during depression because that how it usually appears in me. The Clonidine patch I am is very helpful but it runs out after 5 days (that's my specific titration, it usually is for 7 days) so it returns after a few days.
656243 tn?1231288052 Some people find it tolerable though. I found it best in patch form as the pills ran out and the patch only had to be applied once a week. It did have a calming effect of course and its primary use is for high blood pressure. The side effects to watch out for that I experienced and are relatively common are abnormal heart rhythms, a marked increase in appetite, lowering of sex drive and most importantly depression or other mood changes.
Avatar f tn I have been in surgical menopause for six years now. I have been using the estrogen patch (Vivelle dot .1) since my surgery and have had no problems with hot flashes. However, for the past 8 months I having been getting hot flashes every now and then. Is this normal? When I mentioned it to my doctor, he just said I was already taking the highest dose the patch comes in and didn't like the idea of me using the oral kind.
Avatar f tn I'm 40 hours ct, yes ***** big time. Habit for over a year at 80 of norco. Weaning to 50 mg last month, jumped off 40 hours ago. I can deal with the cold and hot, running nose, aches for ibuprofen. But this clonidine patch is so sedating I feel it's holding me back from seeing the end. It's keeping me in a daze. I hear peak at my level of use is 36 hours, God I hope so. I was ready to check in yesterday. I have clonidine pills as well.
Avatar n tn The clonidine does help but be careful. Use it as directed and dont use it to long. Is it for your final taper or are you using it thru out your taper? sounds like you are tapering pretty rapidly. A 50% taper is brutal. With a propper taper the wd is usually pretty minor. Looks like your taper is just prolonging the innevidable. Sounds like you are handling it well tho. I wish you luck. Keep posting your progress so we can help.
Avatar m tn I would stay on the clonidine. My doctor said to stay on it at .1mg three times a day for the first two weeks after you taper to a new level, or quit. Then go down to .1mg twice per day for a week, then .1mg once per day for a week and then quit. The directions that come with it say you shouldn't stop it abruptly, and my doctor and pharmacist told me the same thing. Otherwise, your body goes the opposite direction and causes higher blood pressure and symptoms you are describing.
Avatar m tn I took clonodine for hot flashes. I had the patch for over a year until I figured out that my unrelenting rash and itching that my doctor called stasis dermatitis due to lyphemdema, was actually an allergic reaction to the catapress patch. I've been on the pills now for about a year or so. Time gets away from me.
1162610 tn?1262829016 I used the clonidine patch .01 and it really helped to calm me down. I did have to invest in a blood pressure machine as since I tend to have low blood pressure, I didn't want to have a problem. I actually had to quit the patch once but then my blood pressure took off again and so I put the patch back on. I think being on the pills would be better because you can monitor your blood pressure and just skip a pill or two if needed.
557111 tn?1219712047 I have to recommend to anyone who wants to quit cold turkey to try a drug called Clonidine. I am wearing the patch for 7 days and then I take it off. It has helped tremendously with withdrawals. I have been able to eat and no diarrhea. I have had a lot of anxiety in the beginning so I just took Valium. You have to really watch and talk to your doc about what aminos you take if you use the clonidine. look it up and read about it, i highly recommend it.
Avatar f tn I was on the Fentanyl patch (1 no 50mg patch and 1 no 75mg patch) for about 6-7 months but wasn't getting on with them. The first doctor I saw told me to just take my patches off and replace it with a 50mg Buphrenorphine one. About 4 hours later I was starting to feel strange and then that evening went into cold turkey. Thought I was dying I felt that bad. Had to call the doctor out, she gave me an injection (can't remember the name of it, was a bit out of it at the time).
Avatar m tn enybody got eny feed back clonidine it was given to me to help with withdraw from oxi and its not doing enygood going through hell right now I have about 7 days
Avatar f tn Sunny, i have never done the patch but I will tell you everyone is different in my honest opinion a piece of the patch may help temp but it will prolong the w/d..Days seem like eternity but once your over this you will be so strong and it will seem like no time at all...Epsom salt baths google thomas recipe drink plenty of water eat soft foods when you can keep busy push through this and most important BREATHE!!
880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
10047460 tn?1407438406 Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.
Avatar f tn as there is really no way to wean off of that dose of fentanyl patch as it is the weakest one,,,at least I have not heard of a weaker dose patch than the 12.5 mcg patch..darvacet would not be a strong enough narcotic to really help much...do be careful with the darvacet tho as it has al;ot of tylenol in it...good luck to you..have you discussed this with your doctor?
Avatar f tn Also on Clonidine patch 0.
