But I would be very careful about prescribing benzos for outpatient withdrawal---- they are respiratory depressants, and if the person starts using opioid agonists in combination with benzos, there is significant risk for overdose and even death. Clonidine, on the other hand, doesn't have the respiratory depressant actions. It does, though, lower blood pressure-- so it should only be used in people who are adequately 'hydrated'-- i.e.
Once you get down to the end or once you stop taking them, that's when you will want to use the clonidine patch to help with withdrawal symptoms you might have. Once you taper w/d symptoms should only last a short time and should not be severe if you have any at all. xoxo- D. Oh, and your friend who has detoxed like 15 times- does she work in the medial field? Doctors and researchers do crazy things to themselves sometimes for their own purposes.
Been on the patches for over 6 months and was not prepared for this horrible detox! My kind doctor gave me clonidine to help counteract the bad feelings and uncontrollable body shakes. Glad i have it, but im taking much more than he said bc the symptoms are so bad! I think everyone should be able to detox IN-PATIENT at a hospital. Im temped to cut a piece of fentanyl patch for some relieve. Any suggestions, my new brave friends? How much longer will this last???
The doses have always been very low but I can't do it anymore/ Friday other doctor gave me clonipin, phenergen clonidine, and lomotil for withdrawl. A tramadol overdose can be fatal. Overdose symptoms of a tramadol overdose may include drowsiness, shallow breathing, slow heartbeat, extreme weakness, cold or clammy skin, feeling light-headed, fainting, or coma. Tramadol may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. Tramadol should never be given to another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it.
Here comes the first hand fear of these pills that I have had. On July 4th of 07, just a few months ago, his Uncle died of an accidential overdose. He had slept most of the day and his wife heard some strange noises coming from the bedroom. She immediatly knew something was wrong. She called their two grown boys, that lived on the same acrearage so not far. They came up and he hemeoraged right in from of all of them and died as the ambulance arrived.
Keeping bery hydrated is very important. Imodium will help with tummy issues and will actually help with some of the withdrawal symptoms. The Thomas recipe gives a list of supplements that will help with the symptoms. Valerian Root is an all natural supplement that helps a lot with anxiety. Ibuprofen will help with any aches and pains. It's not a walk in the park but you can do it.
Lacking the reputation of heroin, many youths and novice opiate drug users engage in oxycodone abuse without understanding the consequences associated with its abuse, such as a heroin-like addiction potential and the threat of a fatal overdose. Using Percocets can cause nausea, weakness and slowed breathing. Percocets can cause impotence, enlarged prostate, and decreased testosterone secretion, thus decrease sex drive.
People make a big deal of combining benzodiazepines with Suboxone, but combining them with opioid agonists like oxycodone is much MORE dangerous. Many overdose deaths occur when people combine opioids and a benzo-- such as Valium, Xanax (alprazolam), or Klonopin (clonazepam). I have been through withdrawal many times myself-- thankfully not recently-- and I have tried to help literally hundreds of people deal with the symptoms of opioid withdrawal.
Ask your doctor about Britoflex/Lofexidine (if in the UK), or Clonidine (if in the USA), or Catapres (if in Australia), this will help your symptoms no end. Im so sorry to hear about your fiance and boyfriend, that is so unlucky for it to happen twice. It pains me that you had to go through that. Many addicts over estimate their addictions and take way too much to compensate. Id reccomend if you are serious about getting off drugs, you should plan a detox rather than maintenance.
I requested the dose not be taken above 90mg(in Alberta all patients are started on a 40mg dose, increasing by 10mls every 3 days until the right dose is reached to stop w.d symptoms, but also not cause any unwanted side effects of euphoria. After I completed my methadone program I did not seek continued help or supports as I felt I was no longer at risk.Silly me.I was fine for 8 mnths. Then one day i got a pretty nasty headache, care of a pretty heavy emotional load I had no way of anticipating.
Can I start the clonidine without feeling withdrawl symptoms or do I have to wait to atart initial dose like suboxone?
I know it will be impossible since the tempation is there. He had gone thru the withdrawal symptoms, for about 4 days, then they go and prescribe them again. They insist he needs to do it slowly, Can someone explain why this is? He tells me he wants to quit but the behavior is still there. I manage his pills giving him only the dosage the dr. prescribed but he has managed to steal the pills. Like I said the temptation is there and as long as they keep prescribing it he will not defeat it.
I don't want to tell my family and go to rehab not because I'm scared to get in trouble, but because I have lost a brother to a cocain overdose and it would break my family's heart to know another family member is addicted to drugs. The worst part now is that I am so depressed if I don't take any of these pills everyday, I'm not sure how to deal with my emotions without them anymore, I don't event deal with my emotions I just use these drugs to cope with them.
My MD will give me ultram (I know I should not take this but I will use minimally and gives me no buzz - just helps with symptoms) and clonodine. I also have klonopin as well. I have 2 kids and I feel like when I take the percocet I am a better and more fun more. I like the buzz and like to do more fun things with them. I am really afraid that when I am clean I will not feel that same way. I guess I am just looking for some reassurance with all of this. Can I get through this?

I had no depression, minimized fatique and was able to treat cramps with immodium, burning skin with clonidine. Remember...suboxone withdrawals are lower in intensity and longer in duration than any other opiate. It is also important that your Suboxone doctor prescribe clonidine to ease some of the withdrawals. During your withdrawal period, I cant express enough the importance of exercise to start training your brain to re-learn how to produce adequate endorphins.
Various withdrawal effects may include shakes, shivers, diarrhea, nausea, and possible flu-like symptoms. Not all people experience will all withdrawal symptoms, and some people may experience others not listed here. The length of time withdrawal symptoms occur can range from a couple of days to weeks depending on how high your dose was and how long you were on the drug. Withdrawal symptoms can be reduced by discontinuing use of the drug slowly (i.e., gradually reducing the daily dose).
I was addicted to Pain Killers for 2 years, Im proud to say today I am 55 days clean, on the 26th I'll be 60 days clean thats 2 months! But what a struggle it was... I took Clonidine, Valium and Promethazine for my withdrawal symptoms so I kind of did it cold turkey bc I didnt take much of the medicine I felt flu like for about 8 days then the rest was aches and pains which I took Ibruprofen 800's for helped a little bit.
I came off heroin with little withdrawl in an in patient setting with clonidine. Some think methadone is like switching one dug for another. As for the blood in urine it sounds like his kidneys he really should check it out.

Your symptoms of w/d on the Suboxone will all depend on what dose of meds you were on and the dosage of Suboxone that they put you on. You will want to take the lowest dose that will give you the effect you can handle and then wean off it as quickly as possible. Most of the ppl I have talked to have gotten a good effect as far as it controlling their w/d's. However you will most likely end up going through some kind of w/d in the end. I wish you the very best.
I'm about to go back to school to be an EMT and how am I supposed to tell people that almost overdose not to do it when I am doing it to myself?? I hope that you and I can support eachother through this. How many days have you been off them? To hide from my family I am sort of faking the flu. Thats what it feels like anyway. Tuesday at about noon was when I took my last one.
