Avatar m tn so i just got out of the ER. i had a stroke 7 years ago and my leg was getting really numb again and i thought i was having another stroke. i told the dr. about my hydro addiction and he said that the symptoms i am having are from the w/d's. he gave me some clonidine(i think thats how its spelled) to get me off the tabs and its suppose to help with the w/d. anyone with any experience with this pill?
10047460 tn?1407438406 Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.
Avatar f tn Hi Olivia's Mom I just recently went through opiate WD & I'll tell you what helped a little with me. You didn't mention how much he was taking, or how long ago he stopped using the meds. The worst of the WD symtoms lasts 4-7 days, although the sleeplessness usually lasts longer. I was on both Clonidine (a blood pressure med that also eases withdrawal) and Phenegran. Phenegran is in the anti-histamine class of drugs & is commonly used to treat nausea.
880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn I have tapered down to 10 mgs of hydro from 120 mg a day. I was on it for about 2 years every day. Can i take both valium and clonidine at the same time to help with my withdrawal symptoms. The last time I went through this my body was so extremely uncomfortable. I had to keep clinching my muscles every time i started to relax and didnt sleep for 4 days. It ultimately let to a failed clod turkey attempt. Thanks so much everybody and i really hope i can get through it this time......
Avatar m tn Anyone have any sleep aid suggestions? Something OTC. I took my last clonidine last night, and am trying not to think about losing sleep tonight.
Avatar f tn Long story short. My doctor switched my Ativan to Clonidine 0.01 for my PMDD night sweats. Has anyone ever taken it for this reason? Did it work, and is 0.01 a low dose. I am afraid to take it because I don't have high BP. Just curious and nervous about taking it. thanks, Nauty......................
Avatar f tn Yeah- just was wondering why it's always clonodin they speak of when there's a million other blood pressure meds. But thanks.
Avatar f tn anyone had experience taking clonidine for sleep issues? i have high blood pressure (and clonidine is a blood pressure med), but my doctor is mainly prescribing it for me as a SLEEP AID to try to keep me off of the benzos for sleep purposes (which have always worked so well for me!)....i'm curious about two things though.....one, how much has anyone taken strictly for sleep purposes? and two, have you had ANY problems stopping it if you want/need to?
902736 tn?1242615086 Please get some meds from a Dr. ( Clonidine and a few tranzene ) then the otc stuff like Immodium, pain meds otc, benadryl, Try the things from the Thomas Recipe if you can ( in the Health Pages ). My best wishes to you and please post often and ask any questions you may have. Detox is rough but doable. Please read the others posts as there is alot of good info on here. After day 5 you aught to feel better so you're getting close, just hang tight!!
Avatar m tn i have no control over them anymore my friend has control of them and i get a certain amount a day till i get down to zero. Is clonidine a script or OTC? Oh and i live in fort mcmurray alberta vicki95. I think this is hard for me cause i get addicted to tooth picks lol and i started these devils dew do a big break up. all my sadness went away and ive been high ever since i guess. Does it make it harder to come off when youve been suckin on these things for the wrong reasons?
Avatar f tn to help you with some clonidine and perhaps a few tranzene for detox. The clonidine really did help me, kept me stable or in my skin during the days 2-4 . I don't think I could have made it without them! You will need the Immodium, otc pains meds, heating pad, or hot baths or showers, gatoraide and water.
Avatar n tn You will still get some withdrawal symptoms, especially at the end, but it will be much milder than if you just jump off and there are medications that can help with those symptoms. Common ones are clonidine, phenergan, and various sleeping pills. Benzos can also help. A good diet and exercise will also help the symptoms to an extent. Some herbal remedies even help.
Avatar n tn Were you able to wean down before you ran out?? If not you will, if not already, go into w/d within 24 hrs of your last dose. You will need Immodium, otc pain meds, clonidine & a few tranzene(quartered) These two are prescription only meds, clonidine helps stable the bloodpressure. Look in the Health pages and find the Thomas Recipe and see if there are anything on it like the l-tyrosine & 5-htp that you can take, and these only if you are not taking antidepressants already.
Avatar f tn He cannot sleep, the doctor suggested putting him on clonidine to help. Has anyone had any experience with taking clonidine as a sleep aid while on vyvanse? Also, my son is extremely short of breath when doing any physical activity. He takes 50 mg of Vyvanse daily and was wondering if anyone has experienced this side effect with Vyvanse. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Clonidine, Dr. prescribed, it really helps keep a person "in their skin". If seeing a Dr. is out of the question, then get : Immodium for the diahreah, perhaps some valarian tea, melatonin if he isn;t on an antidepressant, look in the Health pages for detox information( the Thomas Recipe) muscle relaxers, if he can take them. See, the really hard part abt. recomending anything to someone is that not everyone can take what another person takes. Please, no one here is a Dr.
Avatar f tn I've been taking 20 to 30 mgs ( 3- 10-325's) for two months now. I'm going to quit, but I can't miss work with all the bad side effects. I've been listening quietly to all the remedies, any advice? And what's this stuff Clonidine? I tried to quit a week ago but caved in after two days, with most of the symptoms everyone else talks about. Never thought I'd let myself get in this situation, I actually have a prescription, but I don't want to take 'em anymore.
Avatar f tn I was going to ask my doctor for a few Clonidine and a few Valium to help the first 3-5 days of CT withdrawal. Do they help? Anyone tried?
459663 tn?1236000877 I hope it gets better soon. Have you tried to take anything OTC like Benedryl, Melatonin, or Valarien Root??? When I detoxed I took a sleep blend from GNC, Melatonin, and L-theanine with some liquid Calcium/Magnesium. That cocktain of natural stuff worked for me. I slept great. If you are not taking any anti-depressants, 5HTP can also help with sleep and depression. Good Luck.
Avatar f tn and was able to tapper off. My dr. gave me a few days supply of clonidine, and I had a few tranzene along with the immodium, otc pain meds, mylanta, benadryl. This helped me make it through the detox part. Then, there is the mental part of it. You will still deal with feeling "needfull" for awhile, or that is the case with most of us anyway. Then again, everyone is different, you may just do really good with minamal problems.
Avatar m tn then there is benadryl which is usually the ingrediend in otc sleep aids like tylenol pm....anything a person uses every night to sleep can become mentally habit forming tho..even nyquil! caution as with all things should be used...
Avatar f tn the clonidine helps a lot with the sweats, chills, and blood pressure fluctuations, the benzos are extremely helpful in stopping the insane anxiety, insomnia, muscle cramping and spasms, and restlessness. then i would get OTC immodium and an anti-diarrhea, and a OTC anti-nausea medicine. i also had some ambien for sleep as well. my detox was done in a hospital supervised but you can do it on your own if you think you can handle that.
Avatar f tn I'm sure someone will come along who knows abt. the narcotic bowel thing. This is the first I've heard of that, but I am sure that the opiates can reak havoc on every part of us. I did use the clonidine, and was ever so grateful my dr. prescribe 12 of them for me to detox with. Along with 3 10mg. tranzene, the imodium, mylanta, tums, otc pain meds ( ibuprophen )sp? anyway.
Avatar m tn I tried Abien a few years ago and it wired me all night. Last night, I took ,1 clonidine and 2 soma and I just knew that would put me to sleep and all it did was give me a big buzz and i was wired for a few hours. I know I just need some sleep!
Avatar f tn Sleep may b rough otc p.m. med(a lot of people try nyquil or benedryl but it has adverse reactions often keepimg u awake &/or ellevate anxiety). Also u can try altril its all natural w/3things that r natural sleep aids(like melatonin),try otc anxiety meds/vitamins.Hear people raving about yogi kava tea.Ive been told it works as good as xanax. All availabe at walmart btw. There r a lot more options.Oh wait he obviously has a dr.
