Kids at school are beginning to notice and are asking her about it. I have been given a prescription for Clonidine. Has anyone tried Clonidine? Was the Clonidine successful? What side effects were seen?

Some confusion. He was speaking about Clonidine, a blood pressure medication used off label to control mood disorders. Klonopin is an anti-anxiety medication which is a benzodiazepene. I have been on it for years. The only risk is the potential of building up a tolerance to it which has been of concern in me as I have had to gradually up the dose with my psychiatrists permission. But generally its safe long term.

hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.

It is a medication for high blood pressure but lots of people use it to help with opiate withdrawals, so it depends. What did the doctor say about why they gave them to you? Are you w/ding from opiates? or do you have high blood pressure? What milligram of clonodine did the doc give you?

My addiction specialist gave me a medication for withdrawals, as Im experiencing high anxiety, it feels like theirs a golf ball stuck in my throat, ugh, regardless the name of it is, Oxazepam, has anyone had any experience with this drug?

He is taking 20mg adderal xr, 25mg Zoloft and .02 Clonidine to help him sleep. He has transferred to a new school and has had serious problems at school. He is swearing at the teachers and the principle. Has been in two fights, and has had 4 suspensions. Plus numerous in house suspensions. He has also thrown away his home work and hiding and or destroys it. He has good behavior at home considering that I and his mother are going through a custody battle and she is very bitter.

My doc prescribed me some 0.3 clonidine tablets ,he said it would get me thru the nasty WD ,he only gave me a script 4 six of them which is three days worth I'm suppose 2 take 1 n the am & anotha in the pm starting 2morrow 4 the next 3 days&he said I shouldn't experience any WD while. I'm on them ,just the mental part. Which ill b following up with aftercare,has or does anybody out there have any knowledge about this clonidine??????

I’m pretty sure clondine is a high blood pressure medication to reduce hypertension. It sounds like some side effects of taking clonidine may be helpful with w/d's. I haven’t tried it for that, yet, however, I took it once to reduce my BP and I accidentally took too much and I was literally walking sideways, my BP got dangerously low....(if that happens, drink lots of H2o), so, IMO, I would be very careful with it and take a very low dose. It’s nothing to mess around with….

His doctor told him he would just stop prescribing any type of medication for him. He is going through severe withdrawals and I am very concerned for his well-being. How can a doctor prescribe medications and then abruptly stop. Do we have any recourse against this doctor. I am currently trying to find a detox center for him, and I hate seeing him in this much pain. It worries me that he continuously states he cannot go on like this.

s but only a caring doctor will give it, most would rather see you suffer....i took .1 mg of clonidine 3 times daily...worked tremendously well...if taking clonidine will help get you off your d.o.c.,...take it as your doctor has prescribed it...regardless of what you think MIGHT happen...it does help more than i can describe, i think it is a miracle drug for wd's. i took it for 10 days, then tapered for 3, it is not addictive, but you have to taper to avoid rebound high BP...

ok I have high blood pressure, anemia, and i have these really bad anxiety attacks and i have had these problems since i was six years old and when i was about 14 my doctor perscribed me clonidine and now if i dont take this pill i cant sleep at night i get sick and i throw up until i have this pill my doctor wants me to stop taking it and if i do it just make me so sick and i would never sleep what am i going to do.

Thus the reason for the foggy head/headache during the acute phase. The clonidine helped immensely and even helps with sleep.

7+ hrs after my last pain pill wore off my headache was so bad a wanted to die. ready to use clonidine patchs for the big day, but,will that help my headaches or is there some other medication(s) that will help. both my P.M. doctors now and before ignore my questions about withdrawal. my neuroligist gave me amytripiline.

I discovered that this medication is a blood pressure medication and our pediatrician was not monitoring him while he was on this. We also have tried the melatonin and he was up to 3mg a night and it had no affect.

so the chances of it making u sleepy decrease significantly and hopefully the clonidine will bring u to normal state...if it makes u sleepy u may need to get the dose adjusted..i am not sure of ur habit before//how much or what u were taking It is a blood pressure medication...a potent one and has a side effect of drowsiness cos it slows everything down..so it helps the runs, sleep, anxiety etc.

I just spoke with Steven and there is someone he works with sending clonidine home for us. I realize we should be under a dr.'s care but we aren't. 1. Can we both take it? 2. 1 per night, correct? Could we 1/2 one tonight, would that help? 3. Is there a reason we should not use this?

m on 120m Diltiazem 3x, .1 Clonidine 2x and .2 Clonidine at bedtime. BP is still high. More Clonidine (i.5-2) during the day will drop it to120/80 or below, but it drops my heartbeat to 40-50 an dI'll fall asleep. My heartrate otherwise is 56-62. I'm at the point where I really don't care much anymore. If I check my BP it just makes my BP go higher because I feel it's futile. Got a suggestion?

Right or wrong, I was diagnosed with a motility disorder. Doc wants me to try Clonidine, 1/2 pill once a day then increase. I took the first one last night and have been horribly sick all day. Not sure if it is my regular problems that ate worse ( stomach ache, nausea, bloating) or the med. Anyone?

Theres no otc pain relievers that Im aware of that have negative interaction with clonidine, and yes you can take immodium. I take clonidine still to this day for my blood pressure and I use naproxen, aspirin,tylenol etc. and I was taking immodium during my detox while on clonidine. If you want to be safe go to drugs.com and look up clonidine and it will tell you all the possible interactions it can have. As far as I know there shouldnt be anything to worry about.

2 clonidine at night to help sleep. He also has ODD, my question is what medication can we try him on now that will MAYBE help with both? We have tried the Tenex smallest dose possiblr 1/4 pill in am. And he just could not function. I was wondering about Vyvanse or Focalin XR what is actualy know about the benefits ( if any) for treating someone with ADHD & ODD. Any imput would be helpful.
