My doc prescribed me some 0.3 clonidine tablets ,he said it would get me thru the nasty WD ,he only gave me a script 4 six of them which is three days worth I'm suppose 2 take 1 n the am & anotha in the pm starting 2morrow 4 the next 3 days&he said I shouldn't experience any WD while. I'm on them ,just the mental part. Which ill b following up with aftercare,has or does anybody out there have any knowledge about this clonidine??????

I've heard that you must be in day 3 of withdraw before the first dose of suboxone can be taken ? is this true? I am presently on methadone, although in the past it has help keep me off drugs for 20 years, Ive relapsed and it is not working for me. So I am using both methadone and herion. Will suboxone work for me ??

Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.

In my experience the dose of Suboxone needed isn't related closely to the dose of agonist being abused-- Suboxone hits the 'maximal effect' at a dose of about 2 mg-- and higher doses don't result in any greater opiate effect. The problem is that a person on that much agonist will have withdrawal when starting any dose of Suboxone-- she needs to get her tolerance down a bit before taking Suboxone.

Yes Clonidine does help some. Also check out the Thomas Recipe for vitamins and supplements that will help too. And Larrys Recipe too. But don't take the xanax etc as that will just cause more problems.

I really thought he would change the meds or change the dose. Anyway its probably best that I stay at a low dose anyway so its easier to get off later. If anyone has any info about this combo please let me know.

How long do you normally take clonidine for withdrawal symptoms from Oxycontin and Percocet?

I am already starting to get withdrawal symptoms which surprises me as this is not really a small dose. I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable. I know this is a slow and low taper, is it worth getting it?

Do you know what clonidine is?? Why do you think your dose is too low? It's not supposed to get you high; it's supposed to keep you comfortable while you work on recovering from your addiction,right?

Yes, avisg and I talked about it. I don't plan on using it long, just this week. The research indicates withdrawal can happen after about two weeks, so that will be my max. I think that can really help with the withdrawal, for sure. The seizures appear to be with taking it, not coming off of it. I read some articles and it talks about seizures with people who are prone to seizures, and those that take over 700mg per day.

So your TSH was maybe 70 or 80 before you started taking Levoxyl. Were you started on a high dose? How long have you been taking 200mcg? I have been there. I have had my TSH drop 40 points in a week after getting on the right dose of meds. But I went from post RAI no meds straight to 100mcg, which is what my body wanted. Within six weeks my TSH was between 1.0 and 2.0. That's why I said you may need a dosage increase.

so the chances of it making u sleepy decrease significantly and hopefully the clonidine will bring u to normal state...if it makes u sleepy u may need to get the dose adjusted..i am not sure of ur habit before//how much or what u were taking It is a blood pressure medication...a potent one and has a side effect of drowsiness cos it slows everything down..so it helps the runs, sleep, anxiety etc.

1mg on clonidine this morning. It is not hleping. For those who have used clondine for help with wd, what was your dosing amount? Is .1mg a low amount? Should that be helping her at this point? while on methadone for 10 years I was taking a quite high dose of clonidine for excessive sweating. The doctor told me to continue on the clonidine and we would taper down on that once I was on a stable dose of suboxone. He said there are no harmful interactions between the two. But whenever I take the clonidine it feels like it is kicking me into withdrawal again. severe agitation anxiety racing heart dizziness and double vision. Whats going on please?

I'm sorry, I missed the Hashi's dx - my mistake. I don't see anything that indicates you had a thyroid ultra sound? Please don't tell me I missed that too, in spite of going back and reading again...........LOL It's possible that you have nodules that are leaking hormone independently of the thyroid gland itself. This can swing you from hypo to hyper very quickly.

m into Day 2, I believe...(5pm Friday was last dose) and the clonidine definitely helps with the restless legs and jerking. Still have diaherria, even with maximum immodium. And still have hot flashes, which the clonidine is supposed to help with. I may have to up the dose a little...but don't want to get stuck on ANOTHER medication. I also took just one tramadol a little while ago to see if it would help, but that was 45 minutes ago and I don't feel any better/different.

ur doctor will have to advise u on the clonidine dose..side effect can lower ur bp and make u pass out...75 mg a day is not a horrible dose to detox from...will fel flu like for a few days..do u work...? pick a day that u have a few days off to quit if u taper...there is a great article in the health pages on tapering..main thing is stop taking 5 at once and spread them out thru the day and go lower and lower/5-6 does a day...

Just found this group... Doc has me on clonidine .1 -- when I took this yesterday for first time, it packed a big punch, re dizziness/disorientation tho this did pass as day went on. So today thought perhaps I would cut .1 in half and take twice a day... still not much relief from my withdrawal from fr tubal, then morphine for major pain with bone issues. Is there a .01 to take? Or will taking the .1 twice a day eventually be easier on me?

i was also on the maximum dose of suboxone 32 mgs of suboxone daily, split dose, 16 mgs in the morning, and 16 mgs at night, for just under 6 weeks, at this time i was able to taper quite rapidly down to 10 mgs. ( i have since gone up and back down again in sub dose to try to help with some chronic pain i have) if he was on a stable dose of 20 mgs (only) of methadone (which i wasnt) for an extended amount of time he may not have this problem.

Unfortunately, the muscle relexants I take for my physical disability are activating and keep me up until mid morning though I think when the Clonidine hits the proper dose and I can transfer to the patch form that should help that as well as the fact that when I was on it I was able to be out and about and after I stopped it the physical disability returned and I became homebound and would like in time for spring to get back to the outside world (besides daily walks).
