Some confusion. He was speaking about Clonidine, a blood pressure medication used off label to control mood disorders. Klonopin is an anti-anxiety medication which is a benzodiazepene. I have been on it for years. The only risk is the potential of building up a tolerance to it which has been of concern in me as I have had to gradually up the dose with my psychiatrists permission. But generally its safe long term.

It helps with sleep, anxiety and jitters. Just be very careful because it is very addictive.

The last time I asked my Doc for something that would help the withdrawals. He prescribed Clonidine. It is a heart medication that reduces the heart rate. It helps the jittery, heart beating out of your chest feeling but it also helps everything else. I dont have diarrhea, no body aches, upset stomach, not even anxiety or grumpiness. I just feel a little groggy and sluggish, nothing thats not manageable.

what is the ave precription strenght for Clonodine? I ripped label off when got it few months ago (never used it) and how aften is it typically taken?

Could this dizziness be caused from Hypotension? Because my doctor prescribed me Clonidine Hcl 0.1 mg.

Long story short. My doctor switched my Ativan to Clonidine 0.01 for my PMDD night sweats. Has anyone ever taken it for this reason? Did it work, and is 0.01 a low dose. It's different for everyone. Try soaking in a hot bath with Epsom salts. It really does help - temporarily - but any relief is worth the effort. Even if you don't have the Epsom salts handy, the hot water still helps. Keep an eye on your blood pressure while taking the clonidine and don't be tempted to take more than prescribed. Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.

Thus the reason for the foggy head/headache during the acute phase. The clonidine helped immensely and even helps with sleep.

It is really amazing my pain is completely almost gone, with the exception of a little soreness. I have starting weaning myself from the oxy and was going to ask my doc for some clonidine. How much does it really help with the w/d symptoms?

hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.

s but only a caring doctor will give it, most would rather see you suffer....i took .1 mg of clonidine 3 times daily...worked tremendously well...if taking clonidine will help get you off your d.o.c.,...take it as your doctor has prescribed it...regardless of what you think MIGHT happen...it does help more than i can describe, i think it is a miracle drug for wd's. i took it for 10 days, then tapered for 3, it is not addictive, but you have to taper to avoid rebound high BP...

second, my doctor prescribed two clonidine patches for me for any withdrawl symptoms. What do these do ? my doc said it woud basically knock me out...love that of course... but, i am hesitant because i had never heard of it... i know it is a little strange for a prescription lover to be afraid of a new drug...weird. but, i would like to hear about some experiences with people who have tried it before. It really works. It will not make you 100% the same as if you were taking the percs but it helps with anxiety, sleeplessness and overall feeling like crap. My doctor gave me 1.0 milligrams with a refill. She is awesome. Yesterday was my full day 2 from all addictive substances (day 9 from Vicodin) and I had some anxiety late afternoon and evening. Took a pill each time and I was fine. Slept a full 8 hours.

WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
