Avatar f tn hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.
880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
1015921 tn?1251709372 No, I need to work FT. I managed to get off until Tues now. I'm still pretty sick. But better than I was. The way I was eating those pills at work, you don't have to tell me it will be a big trigger. But if I don't have them, and I don't, at least that is one place I can't get them. I'm taking valium to sleep right now. Works so so. Have to take 20 mgs. Then still wake up 15 times a night seems like. Have horrible nightmares. I know, the danger or another addiction.
Avatar f tn Give it 2-3 weeks becaue his tolerance needs to build up first. The Clonidine will also help with the shortness of breath and Insomnia. I also take an amino acid supplement, L-THEANINE, which helps balance out some of the overstimulation that Vyvanse and other stimulants (caffeine) can cause and it helps with ADHD on its own as well. It can be bought OTC at GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe.
Avatar f tn My doc prescribed me some 0.3 clonidine tablets ,he said it would get me thru the nasty WD ,he only gave me a script 4 six of them which is three days worth I'm suppose 2 take 1 n the am & anotha in the pm starting 2morrow 4 the next 3 days&he said I shouldn't experience any WD while. I'm on them ,just the mental part. Which ill b following up with aftercare, has or does anybody out there have any knowledge about this clonidine??????
774059 tn?1235681948 I was prescribed Clonidine for my Fentanyl patch WD symptoms. I think it helped me a little through the first symptoms, but it was a painfull process. I don't think you can ever take all the pain out of WD; it is inevitable. I was told to take it at night, but found it was actually keeping me awake. One of the side effects is insomnia, which is one of the last things I need, so I stopped taking it after a couple of weeks.
Avatar m tn enybody got eny feed back clonidine it was given to me to help with withdraw from oxi and its not doing enygood going through hell right now I have about 7 days
Avatar m tn I have tapered off of subox, the doctor put me on Clonidine to take 3 times a day. So far, I feel fine, in fact this is the best I have felt in a while. I was on put on subox. four years ago for pain management, not for detox. It took me almost 2 years to taper of of subox, but when I got down to 0.25mg, the doctor put me on this Clonidine. Is my feeling good only because of this new medication? Am I going to need to taper off of something else now? WTF?
198154 tn?1337787265 s but only a caring doctor will give it, most would rather see you suffer....i took .1 mg of clonidine 3 times daily...worked tremendously well...if taking clonidine will help get you off your d.o.c.,...take it as your doctor has prescribed it...regardless of what you think MIGHT happen...it does help more than i can describe, i think it is a miracle drug for wd's. i took it for 10 days, then tapered for 3, it is not addictive, but you have to taper to avoid rebound high BP...
915211 tn?1243899281 I actually once did Suboxone when I went to rehab (the one place that acknowledged my problem) and it worked after 7 days, but then the insomnia continued for the next week till I was put back on the buprenorphine in preparation for surgery for hip problems-- the thing which exacerbated my addiction-. I took/take enormous amounts of the drug- up to 60 of the 50mg pills per day. I would wake up and pop about 18 of them, then just keep taking more and more throughout the day.
Avatar n tn Has anyone on here tried the blood pressure medicine Clonidine to help w/ physical withdrawals? I do not have a doctor I trust, so I ordered a prescription from Mexicao and am waiting to receive it. Has this really helped anyone out there? I read that it makes you really tired; is it too tired to function? Please help. I completely fell off of the wagon a few weeks ago and am desperate now. Please pray for me.
Avatar f tn I finally managed to quit the opioids, and clonidine helped so much. But now I need to taper it,so it does not spike my blood pressure, and avoid the sweating that I get when I forget a dose.I'm taking 800 mg a day,200 mg /6hrs. Thanks for any help!!
Avatar f tn I took benadryl last month but my dr gave me clonidine this month. i am quite small. 110 pounds. the withdrawals are starting to kick in with jerks and tears without crying and insomnia. i took half of a .1 mg pill and feel nothing yet but mind you, i also am used to taking VAST doses of valium and xanax. my blood pressure is normally very low, but i'm also a benzo addict, so is this stuff gonna work to help me sleep when 5 xanax didn't? will it work at all?
Avatar f tn Will the clonidine make me feel bad? Can I die from these withdrawals? Can I sleep this off?
Avatar f tn My doc says Effexor and Clonidine will help flashes. I do not want to take Effexor, and Clonidine may lower my blood pressure too much since I am already on two blood pressure meds. I will try the Evista and if get flashes again, I may just stop. I read magnesium helps, so I tried. It did help quite a bit, but unfortunately, if you take enough, you get diarrhea. Some choice. So if anyone knows of other alternatives for flashes, please post.
Avatar n tn Can anyone tell me if there are contraindications with combining the three of these? The person is experiencing insomnia (even though Ambien is supposed to keep you asleep for 7-8 hours), wakes up several times per night, is restless, seems to be experiencing some sort of mental confusion during the day, etc. Also, although the cough syrup (Pennkinetic) was optional, they now regularly use it (and if it is not given to them, actually ask to have it).
Avatar m tn But this does not happen during the day time... its weird! Anyway Im on day 14 now without any subs and the insomnia is just unreal! Im actually pissed of that my doctor never warned me about this, never tried to taper me plus he kicked me out of program for missing an appointment. I had a month supply when i got his certified letter, so I instantly starting to taper.
271872 tn?1238590391 Ok, I've been clean off Fentanyl for almost 9 days now. 2days off Darvocet (which I cut in half to help with the Fentanyl WD's. Anyway, the insomnia is brutal. I knew it would be, but I gave in and called my Doc for something to help me sleep. I asked for Clonidine, but got Seroquel! How dangerous is this drug to use for a few days? It 50mg tabs. Has ANYONE used this to get through opiate insomnia before??? How well does it work & how long did you need it?
Avatar m tn I'm on week 9 of sovaldi/ribavirin for GT. My co-workers are about ready to shoot me. My doc prescribed Clonidine for insomnia and anxiety but it hasn't helped the rage. Thank you, orphanedhawk, for the tips!
Avatar f tn I also was prescribed clonidine to help with withdrawl . I tried following the Thomas recipe which helped a lot. The good thing is, if you stop the meds and you're faithful to it, a week and the worst is over, I promise. I'm on day 10 and feel great!
Avatar m tn Why are you taking them? How are you getting them ? Sadly there really isn't a miracle drug that will eliminate your withdrawl symptoms. Have you looked up the thomas recipe? That seems to help. Flushing the system with water, and as much as it's dreaded.....exercise DOES help. I know I've heard that clonidine helps a bit for some people as well but you have to be careful with that one. Im sure more help is coming soon.
Avatar f tn Long story short. My doctor switched my Ativan to Clonidine 0.01 for my PMDD night sweats. Has anyone ever taken it for this reason? Did it work, and is 0.01 a low dose. I am afraid to take it because I don't have high BP. Just curious and nervous about taking it. thanks, Nauty......................
Avatar m tn clonidine is generally used as a blood pressure medicine, but it has been found to help a lot with the chills, sweats, and blood pressure spikes you experience during opiate withdrawals. it works in very small doses and helps with the insomnia you have as well. I used it during my hospital detox for my oxy and heroin addiction which was huge. they gave me .1 mgs of clonidine every five hours, .5 mgs of lorazepam every half an hour(def.
Avatar m tn I decided it was time to get off this crap, even though otc meds do nothing for my back pain and sciatica and I hurt a lot each day now. My doc gave me 120 Clonidine .01mg (too be take every 6 hours) and then 30 Temazepam 15mg. The Temazepam is gone b/c I used it to sleep as much as possible day 2 & 3 and would take 2 each time. So, I know screwed the pooch w/ that one.
Avatar f tn first two days, muscle twitches, restless legs, hot, sweating, then chills, nausea, insomnia, severe panic, anxiety. today, insomnia, depression, hot/cold, head feels foggy, NO MOTIVATION at all, i don't feel like i can get my job done, haven't checked my mail since saturday, house a mess, etc.... anyway, i am seeking treatment, saw psychiatrist today, and i have questions about the meds he prescribed.. Clonidine 0.
4605616 tn?1362003158 It helps with sleep, anxiety and jitters. Just be very careful because it is very addictive.
Avatar n tn Then the benzo as im sure you know will help a ton with the anxiety, cravings, insomnia, muscle aches and cramps, insomnia, and much more.. Then get OTC immodium ad for the diarrhea, then some anti-nausea meds like maalox etc.
