Avatar n tn The pain that you are having can be due to compression or irritation of the nerves during the spinal anaesthesia. It is advisable to consult a neurologist and get a MRI spinal cord or nerve conduction tests done to confirm whether there is any irritation of the spinal cord. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn CSF leak (spinal) headaches usually start sooner after the procedure and yours sound like they're quite long after.
218177 tn?1240140219 I was told that these changes are OK as long as you have the sensation in BOTH legs. If you feel numbness/swelling in only one leg then it's a problem. Congrats on your new arrival!
Avatar n tn This is due to the Epidural anaesthesia problems. Some people have problem with spinal anaesthesia and some have problems due to effects of anaesthesia. As she is slowly regaining strength nothing to worry and do some Physiotherapy to hasten her progress. Take care!
Avatar n tn You definitely should get an MRI, because a CT generally doesn't show the spinal column in relation to the nerves that run through it and discs that might be placing strain on the nerve. It sounds like, from your description, that you might have vestibular problems such as Oscillopsia. Oscillopsia is a vestibular condition that causes "jumping eyes.
Avatar m tn So, if your wife does not want a general anaesthesia, she can opt for a regional or epidural or a spinal anaesthesia. If a local anesthetic has been used, there may be no pain at all immediately after the procedure. Hope this information helps. Best.

Avatar f tn neuropathic pain caused by damage or dysfunction in the nervous system including the spinal cord. This can be spinal cord injury pain, segmental pain that can be associated with allodynia and hyperalgesia in the painful region. Nerve root entrapment pain and syringomyelia are other groups of neuropathic pain. The other category of pain is musculoskeletal due to secondary overuse and muscle spasms after spinal cord injury and surgery.
293157 tn?1285873439 I personally hate spinal anesthesia. I do not like needles in my spine it is like a LP or the hours of coming out of it where I can't move. I have done both and am for be knocked out personally. I have had lots of surgery with MS and have never had a problem.
Avatar n tn Hello,I would like to find out if it is possible to have surgery to remove a 4cm dermoid cyst from the ovary, under epidural/spinal or regional anaesthesia instead of general. If not possible could you please tell me why?
Avatar f tn My guess would be that if the anaesthetic was administered by a dental surgeon, and not an anaesthesiologist, then that by itself could be the root of your issue. His/her training and experience in anaesthesia as a dental surgeon is limited. Secondary to that, would be an overlooked drug interaction. Go to the drug interaction online checker and check any possible interactions between the ketamine or whatever was used for your anaesthesia and you regular meds, one by one.
231441 tn?1333892766 They actually feel like the one spot (always there now) that I have as a result of spinal anaesthesia when I had surgery last year. Either in my head, or imagined in my head. Though that they disappeared (except that surgery induced one spot) while I was pregnant and back again now would be an interesting coincidence. Haven't told my doctors about this yet. Don't know what to say.
Avatar f tn m not allowed an epidural or a spinal block. I saw my obstretrician the other day and he said I should give birth naturally but I disagree...i know that with the pain I get in my back and the restricted movement I won't be able to ..what can I do???
Avatar f tn After injecting me once he put the same needle in the anaesthesia multidose vial and injected me again. He might have done it with other patients too. So is there any chance that he contaminated the anaesthesia bottle with hiv or other dangerous virus.. Am I at risk of hiv contamination from used needle or used anaesthesia.
11928406 tn?1431049111 I'm a ftm but my sister had an epidural and they do give you a needle in your back. I've never heard of having a button but I'm not completely sure.
Avatar m tn Dentists asked us parents to choose between sedation (3 -4 sessions on the clinic setting) or general anaesthesia (in 1 sitting at the OR); Either one we are nervous for our son. Any opinion on which one will work better for him and for us? Any points about local anaesthesia? Can his body tolerate the general one?
Avatar n tn I am little scared of this surgical procedure anaesthesia and all that.. as all my tests are normal is this test is really required? Is it safe?
Avatar f tn Hi there, my symptoms are saddle anaesthesia and numbness in lower extremities for over 12 weeks now .I seen a neurosurgeon 4 days back and he doesn't see why I have this problem considering my MRI results. Mild degenerative changes noted at L4-L5 and L5-S1 levels with mild OA changes seen in the facet joints at these two levels. A slight left lateral disc bulge seen at L3-L4 level caused slight encroachment on the left exit with no significant stenosis.
Avatar n tn The medications used to induce anesthesia in general do not trigger seizures in most people, but some medications have been implicated rarely. In patients with seizures on antiepileptics, not taking medications prior to surgery, or the effects of anesthetics on the seizure medications can also lead to seizures. The stresses of surgery could bring out seizures in someone with a predisposition to seizures.
