877402 tn?1241569071 s a chronic medical condition that results from changes in the brain in susceptible people. Once narcotic addiction is established, escaping the cycle of detox and relapse is typically a long-term process. Breaking free of prescription drug abuse takes much more than willpower. Fortunately, medications and counseling can improve the chances of success.

Avatar f tn Why did your doctor just stop writing your script rather than tapering you? There are also some other prescriptions, non-narcotic, that can help, like Clonidine, which some people say really works well in easing the withdrawals.
Avatar f tn If so, will he quit cold turkey, or will he be able to taper down? Tapering down would be the easiest on his body with less intense withdrawal symptoms! You can help him with that my controlling his doses! I don't know much about Klondine as I've never taken it! I believe it is a blood pressure medication and supposedly does help with withdrawals! Has your son been prescribed this? Hang in there and others will be along to offer support and advice! I wish you the very best!
Avatar m tn Can anyone tell me if cymbalta along with colonidine will help at all with tramadol withdrawal im on my first day of cold turkey and someone handed me these meds and said these would help please let me know as soon as possible im in a dark place right now but i am dam determined to succeed at this effort Thank You.
439522 tn?1214951189 m tapering down from Oxycontin (done a week ago) and now hydrocodone (down to 4 per day- 5mg). Dr. has me on .1 clonidine to help with the physical withdrawal symptoms as we move down. But, today he prescribed me tramadol...with lots of refills and for long term use. I had never heard of it, and the point was that I decided it was time to move off opiates and try some other non-narcotic pain relievers.
Avatar f tn I drove to the drug store to fill my prescriptions but instead went in to by sleep aide. I did not fill the clonidine. I am not looking for anymore high. I just want to be over this. I am going to get some counseling after this is over.
1013208 tn?1256824731 Also, if you were feeling the effect of the HCs, then that means the suboxone was gone - it only has a half-life of 30 to at most 70 hours in my experience. 2mg of Clonidine every 4 hours sounds WAY too high, unless you're normally on BP medication and are replacing it. Even .2mg every 4 hours is twice as much and twice as often than I was taking it. Not giving you dosing advice, because we're not allowed on here, but I'd check on that with a Dr.
610505 tn?1329603723 He agreed and gave me clonidine and xanax for the withdrawal. Out of my fear of the withdrawal I also made an appointment with the Sub Dr. that same day. He prescribed me Sub for six weeks only. So, heres the thing guys... I have been off all pain meds since 3/8/10, and I quite the Sub after only 6 days of being on it. 3/13/10 was my first day off the Sub.
Avatar n tn I would like to know if I take Ultram for these w/d symptoms, will I then have to go through w/d symptoms when I stop the Ultram - and if so, what are they like? How safe or unsafe from a narcotic standpoint is Ultram? - and is it actually considered a narcotic? I've had a Dr. tell me no it is not a narcotic and a good replacement for pain control for other narcotics.
Avatar f tn how about cutting the patches in 1/2 and dropping to 25 mgs and then do the withdrawal in a month. Perhaps that will ease up the symptoms a bit.
Avatar f tn I can tolerate most of the Withdrawal symptoms that are given to me, but those cold sweats just have to go! Unbearable!
Avatar n tn everyone is different but i would prepare and ask ur doctor for clonidine like avs said and some non-narcotic aids to help u get off the meds u r on...it definitely will not get any easier to get off as time goes by...
Avatar f tn Is this from the withdrawal and has anyone had this problem? If so, is there any suggestions to help calm me down, (besides drugs!
Avatar f tn Neonates of mothers who have used oxycodone chronically may exhibit respiratory depression and/or withdrawal symptoms, either at birth and/or in the nursery. Use only if clearly needed (Pregnancy Category B). Labor and delivery: Not recommended immediately before labor and delivery because drug may cause respiratory depression in the newborn. Breast-feeding: Do not use in nursing mothers.
Avatar n tn The stuff in panlor is similar to codeine. Good news is that your doc isnt totally lame - - it is not as bad as the hydrocodone..But if you changed from the hydro you may have brought a little tolerance with you. The excedrin will help with the pain. And it may be the caffeine that also helps when you use those excedrin. Using the 1/2 pills is a good idea.
Avatar f tn ) I have a PIC line for antibiotics so the staph will soon get better but my mail order pharmacy has been processing my fentanyl order for much longer than usual and I am on my last set of patches. I went through withdrawal once following a hurricane that shut down our city entirely for two weeks and it was not a pleasant experience. I have clonidine, valium and 4 mg dilaudid I can use to minimize the symptoms, but I am not sure of the proportions to use and how often.
228936 tn?1249094248 That's about right. In conjunction with benzos it the best narcotic detox with no narcotic rebound like meth or sub.
Avatar f tn The worst of the WD symtoms lasts 4-7 days, although the sleeplessness usually lasts longer. I was on both Clonidine (a blood pressure med that also eases withdrawal) and Phenegran. Phenegran is in the anti-histamine class of drugs & is commonly used to treat nausea. So is Compazine and Vistaril. The anti-nausea effect is very nice, but these meds also make you very sleepy (as does the Clonidine).
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
1162610 tn?1262829016 The Tramadol is to help with the pain associated with the withdrawal because I'm trying to cut down/out the hydrocodone. The Clonidine is to help with the cravings and it does help! It knocks me out though and all I wanna do is sleep. Weird. That stuff is supposed to be a high blood pressure medicine. How do people take it and stay awake when they need it for blood pressure I wonder!
553001 tn?1218811768 00 pm and I still was fine. And the best part of all was I wasn't craving a Percocet like I normally do. I just was shocked. Since it is a nerve pill, I was afraid I would be sleepy or dizzy but I didn't have those symptoms either. I just felt normal. And I have heard that it is non addictive (I just happened to have a bottle of them from a nerve headache 6 months ago, that was lucky that I still had the pills).
10047460 tn?1407438406 well at first I would say that methadone has a 36hr half life so acute withdrawal will not set in until the 3rd day if you do not have any it will get progressive worst day one will be uncomfortable day 2 will have a lot of anxiety sweets and day 3 it will hit with force a lot has a lot to due with how high your dose is how long you been on it and your age I would not recommend this fill us im on the dose and how long you been on it............................Gnarly.......................
Avatar f tn I applaud you resolve to stay clean, but want to caution you that methadone is a long acting narcotic and your withdrawal symptoms will stick around for quite a while. You will feel rotten for as long as four to six weeks. You can try asking a physician to prescribe you some Requip for restless legs, Clonidine for blood pressure and general anxiety control and maybe get some over the counter Valerian for sleep and sedation.
Avatar f tn Hi, If the take Vicodin after the Fentanyl, all you are doing is prolonging the withdrawal process. It is switching one narcotic for another. You should really consult your doctor and let him/her taper you properly. And yes, since you have been on a relatively short time you should not go through full blown withdrawal. Let us know how you make out.
