401554 tn?1270213756 Did the clonidine slow your heart rate down? How well did it work for reducing your high BP?
Avatar f tn m at 101, is clonidine suppossed to help with the heart rate too? do I have to wait longer for this medication to work on my heart rate?
Avatar m tn Went bed last night. Noticed I had a heart rate of 132, This kida scared me. I went to ER AND THE PRESCIBED ME SOME ATIVAN, tHE HEART RATE IS STILL HIGH, Have an appointment today. I am currently on 10 day hydrocodone withdrawl. Any insight out there. would love some input.
Avatar f tn It is OK, BUT YOU should talk to the DR because we do not know your Health Issues. This med should be under a DRs care so they can also check your BP.
Avatar f tn I can feel EVERY BEAT of my heart... One minute, BP is 88/46 with a heart rate of 127 and 10 min later its 148/90 with HR of 64!! The heart rate is mostly on the extremely rapid size... Has anyone else experienced this and if so, have you discovered anything that helps it? I find it very difficult to even breathe when my HR is swinging from one extreme to the next .. not to mention the anxiety that it causes!
Avatar m tn t have done it without the clonidine. .1mg twice per day (right when you get up and right when you go to bed). It keeps your heart rate down, blood pressure down, and prevents most of the stomach cramps and I didn't have ANY RLS at all. It also causes constipation, which helps with the diaherria. Tried to quit twice before without it and couldn't do it. I would taper down as low as you can and start the clonidine as part of the taper...
Avatar f tn Clonidine stimulates central alpha-adrenergic receptors which result in a decrese in your sympathetic nervous system. This will help to keep your heart rate down, anxiety reduced and will almost eliminate the cold sweats. I have used it befor and am currently taking it as we speak. I take 0.1mg every eight hours. For acute W/D you can take 0.2mg every eight hours. but not for more that 10 days. you should taper off the last 2 days. i know you have the patch but it is the same drug.
Avatar f tn I have had a stent placed in the artery leading to my left kidney and my pressure has gotten higher. I was on Bisoprolol 5 mg, but my doctor stopped that because he said my heart rate was too low (it ranged from 44 to 57) My heart rate has increased since coming off the Bisoprolol. It is running from 62 up to 83. He also took me off HCTZ 25mg. I spoke with my local pharmacist and he told me the Lisinopril and the Diovan are in conflict with each.
656243 tn?1231288052 It is Clonidine. I think they prescribed it to me because I get extreme high heart rate in certain situations like I am going to pass out. Seems to be working as I also have high blood pressure. I will keep you all posted. C.
Avatar n tn Oh wow sorry this was back in 2011...
3225128 tn?1347133998 Clonidine reduces your heart rate and blood pressure. That could be making you feel tired. Feeling low energy after acute withdrawal of opiates is also pretty normal. Some people feel anxious when they stop clonodine, as the heart rate increases and blood pressure goes back up. Call your prescribing doctor and ask if it would be okay to remove it, and if he says no, I'm sure they will explain why.
Avatar f tn During the 24 hour testing my highest bp was 167/126, my lowest was 126/75, my highest heart rate was 120 and the lowest 87. I told him that my heart rate upon slight exercise would go to 160 within a few minutes of warm up which is what I want to manage better so I can do more stuff. He said this medication should do that, I sure hope so! He is faxing this information to my family doctor tomorrow and he said by Monday my Dr.
Avatar f tn Clonodine is actually a blood pressure med that helps during withdrawals because of the elevated heart rate associated with withdrawals. It does seem to help other symptoms also such as hot/cold flashes, insomnia, creepy crawlies, and just overall makes you feel a bit better. Do be careful because since it is a blood pressure medication it can potentially cause some problems. More than likely you will be fine taking them but if you notice you feel faint or dizzy get to the doctor.
Avatar f tn it takes away cold hot sweats i found really well. you gotta be careful because it slows heart rate so you must follow what the doc says to be effective. i was also told to taper down the med after the major wd is over... because it can make you heart palpitate and so on.. i had no problems with it and found it helped me alot.
Avatar n tn i am prescribed atenolol and clonidine and i finally decided to take more dosages than prescribed. i took 100mg of atenolol and 0.2 of clonidine at once. my heart rate is 44 bpm and my blood pressure is 100/69. this is the lowest that i can remember these readings ever being. i only feel very lethargic and sleepy and like i am about to lose consciousness, but honestly,i do not mind that..it is much better than being tachycardic.
439522 tn?1214951189 1mg), and when did you start and stop taking it through your withdrawls? Also, will help the anxiety? I would think if my blood pressure goes down and heart rate, it would have a calming effect. I take 10mg a day of Lexapro for anxiety (have for a few years). Have had no anxiety when on Lexapro...except for now as I go through lortab withdrawals...and the anxiety is as bad as before when I had to start the Lexapro.
Avatar n tn I get fast heartbeat sometimes also. I can get a heart rate of 130 BPM just from grating cheese. I am on BP meds to control the high BP when standing. Without meds, my BP can go from 116/78 when sitting to 170/120 just from standing up and walking around. The ER doc said it could be a heart issue causing this and send me for the Echo. The Cardiologist will not even take into consideration my high BP when standing as he says you can only get low blood pressure from standing, not high.
974371 tn?1424653129 Also reduced my Prozac to 10 mg once a day. So far, BP and heart rate have been ok, though I am normally on the low side. Tried skipping the Prozac yesterday but can't say I notice a difference with these medications. I am still waking up during the night with stomach grumbling which progresses to stomach ache then nausea. I get up and take an Omeprazole then take 1/2 Alprazolam about 1-2 hours later. Now my morning routine.
Avatar n tn I just completed my detox on 7/4/10 from Oxy & Oxycodone by tapering at a clinic. I started taking it bec. I was mugged & injured, although I was taking very high doses for a long period of time (Oxy). I wanted to get off of it for the longest time, but couldn't find help by tapering until now (w/o having to take other drugs to get off).
Avatar f tn I take Clonidine and it helps with the withdrawls somewhat, including keeping the heart rate down. It works better for some people...not the greatest for me, but helps a little. For some people it is really a godsend and helps them through. You will need to talk with your doctor, though. You'll have to be honest and tell him that your trying to scale back on your oxycontin use and that you are helping for some supporting medications.
Avatar n tn So they gave him 4 mg an hour again after an episode of great frustration for him and a heart rate of 201 beats a min. But they reduced it to 2mg then 1 then a 1/2 then nothing in the space of 12 hours and a few hours later he was sedated again after a repeat episode. I'm not an expert by any means but this seemed a really quick withdrawal to me? I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this and how long on average it takes to withdraw from clonidine?
Avatar n tn Lower blood pressure reduces the workload of the heart and provides time for the heart to completely recover from the operation. If you experience dizziness, fainting, etc., your doctor may want to adjust the medication, but if you can tolerate your current blood presssure the better it is for your heart.
Avatar f tn The Celexa is what has helped my heart rate more that just the clonidine alone, at rest it is at 67 or so and before it would be in the high 90's. When doing stairs it does raise to 110 which still makes me very tired and sometimes I experience chest pains but prior to all these meds doing stairs would raise my BP and heart rate to 140 and I would feel extremelly sick, now my BP does raise but still within normal ranges.
Avatar f tn well, atenolol is a blood pressure medication. So is clonidine. They both also help regulate the heart rate, so yes it will work. Be careful though, when detoxing off of opiates our blood pressure doesnt skyrocket like it would if we were coming off of alcohol. Check your blood pressure once a day if you can. Atenolol lasts longer than the clonidine and thats why you only take it twice a day compared to every 6 hours. I wouldn't even fill the tramadol Rx.
Avatar m tn Uncontrolable heart rate is normal from what the doctor told me.. At night il have uneven heart beats it will do it once or twice then stop or it will beat really fast for 10 seconds or so. It's always when I lay down at night it's weird.
Avatar f tn Felt like my insides were on fire and my outsides with elevated heart rate and blood preasure...They gave me valume to get my BP and HR back to normal it worked..I kept going back to the ER with these symptoms for 3 days they said I have severe anxiety and prescribed Ativan.....I wish I wish I never started this drug it's been a nightmare......
349859 tn?1257790973 Thank u! I have been thru wd before but from percs and oxys. This time its subs and I've been in them for 4 and a half yrs. I'm trying to prepare myself for what's to come. I've got myself down to 1 mg and plan to go lower but I've heard horror stories when it comes to getting off subs. The worse part of wd for me is the anxiety and chills. My heart races and I get very nervous feeling. I've heard some say clonidine helps when going through wd.
Avatar f tn Now that my arthrits is properly treated,i did not need them, and stopped with Clonidine,by myself..But the Clonidine is not working like it used to be,and I cannot sleep because of the night sweats.summer is coming, and it will be harder with the hot weather. No kidding, but sometimes I fell worst than when tapering opioids.Wish I had taken more time, and stopped very slow without clonidine..i have the 0.1 and 0.2 ones. They are cheap, and i can buy how many I want..but want my life and sleep back..
