Avatar f tn I need to know...my 3 year old son had a growth hormone stimulation test and the levels for clonidine came back below 4 at first and then peaked at 13. Then arginine was administered and his levels stayed at below 4. Does this mean he has some form of growht hormone deficiency?
Avatar f tn But they do test your IGF-1 to see if this is low usually, before a stimulation test is done. I was just of of Growth Hormore for a few months for a surgery and intracranial hypertension and my IGF went down to 50 something.
Avatar m tn My recent growth hormones as per Insuline Tolerance Test and Glucagon Stimulation Test shows 1.1 ug/L, Cortisol also shown low, guide what are expectations, already on Synthroid 0.50 mcg,.
Avatar m tn yes Have severe growth hormone deficiency shown in latest and most advance stimulation tests -Glucagon stimulation tests and Insuline Tolerance Test, Does this may be reason of gum bleed, pain in center of head.
Avatar m tn I am 55, severe obs sleep apnea- non compliance CPAP, now growth hormones came at severe critical low level at stimulation tests// Insuline tolerance test and Glucagon stimulation test done on two different days. already taking Synthroid, for thyroid, belly weight. weakness, tired, confused, blurry, center head pain. sleep is not sound. cortisol is also not normal with glucagon stimulation test. IGF-1 is low. Can I be a candidate for growth hormone replacement therapy with immediate effect.
Avatar f tn Lisa, a stimulation test (stim test) is an endocrine term for a test to assess a hormone response to a stimulus. It helps us assess for deficiencies or overproduction of hormones. In regards to puberty the test to see if the brain is maturely signalling is called a leuprolide stim test, a medication called leuprolide is given and levels of the pituitary puberty hormones are meaured before and after.
Avatar f tn My doctor said I needed to be tested for low growth hormone because my IGF-1 was 86 normal was 126 to something higher I don't rememeber. But because of some drug they have to order it maybe weeks or months before they can test me. Is waiting that long a problem. Also I have a borderline T4 value. I am very tired all the time. And I had a vision change about 1 year ago. Big problems losing weight. Depressed.
Avatar f tn The most important hormone that the pituitary makes is acth, this tells our adrenal gland to get going during times of stress and make very important cortisol. This can be tested to be sure that signal is working with a 1 microgram acth stimulation test, cortisol is measured before and after giving a copy of the hormone that the pituitary makes, if the adrenal gland makes good cortisol with the acth then we know that there has been communication and that this track is working.
Avatar n tn I then had a growth hormone suppression test which came back normal. However, my growth hormone blood level and IGF-1 were still elevated. I had an MRI which showed no pituitary tumor. They want to recheck the IGF-1 again in 6 months and see if it is still high or gets higher, and if so, i am supposed to have more pituitary testing. Do you know what this means and what I should be looking for?
Avatar n tn He is 41 inches and 34 pounds and is only averaging 2 cm of growth per year. He had growth hormone stim test a few weeks back and we got the results yesterday. His levels from the blood draws were: 0.8 4.6 11 12 7.1 6.9 3.8 Because insurance requires all numbers to be below 10 to be accepted we are going down a different route. His IGF-1 is low, his level is 32. I was told that it shouldn't be a problem getting insurance to accept that and we can treat him for the IGFD.
Avatar f tn she weights 28 pounds. she had her GH stimulation test normal ,Blood GH level normal, and she is symptomatically having celiac, biopsy didnt confirm it though.she is on a gluten free diet because of her symptoms. Her MRI of piutitory shows its small in size, but i was told its functions are normal. eventually her endo started treating her with GH assuming she might be ISS.
Avatar m tn t test for it if you are obese. The false positive meaning that you are positive for growth hormone deficiency. But that if you lose weight to get out of the obese weight range then they are implying that you can then test for the growth hormone at that time and it will be accurate. So, perhaps weight is throwing off your growth hormone and the result you have isn't accurate. According to the endocrinologist they said your pituitary was normal.
Avatar m tn Thanks, for growth hormones- stimulation tests like Insuline Tolerance Test and Glucagon Stimulation tests were done, shows severe/critical low growth hormones at level 1.0 ug/L,belly weight and all other signs of growth hormones deficiency. What can be requested to endocrinologist? MRI was read by Neuroradiologist, Detailed MRI report is at link https://www.dropbox.com/s/b54eec5qzlx14p7/photo.JPG Please guide what are expected treatments available.
1375454 tn?1279020814 I failed all stim tests for cortisol - yet that was my main problem, and failed the growth hormone test - so I have that too. So the tests are not perfect. Relax - for the most part - most people feel cold, alas, some people do get sick to the stomach but it does depend on the stim agent and I have no idea what they are giving you.
11379988 tn?1417703038 I assume they are doing both Growth Hormone and cortisol stimulation testing. Both of those hormones can go low after pit surgery and cause you to feel fatigue and joint pain, although I would guess cortisol is more likely as I know my body aches a LOT when cortisol goes up and down. It pays to get monitored regularly after pit surgery - things change. It is pretty normal to lose one or more hormones, often thyroid and GH post op... some of us lose more.
Avatar m tn Low growth hormone should mean more testing - however, insurance in the US (and I assume elsewhere) will not pay on the IGF-1 test as growth hormone pulses so you can take it at different times and it would be different so you have to have several tests to show low and then a stimulation test in order to get medication. I take it myself. GH should also be tested at least once just for source.
Avatar m tn In my latest Glucagon stimulation test it shows low Growth hormones and low cortisol, then Insuline tolerance test was done which shows low levels like 0.6 of growth hormones and cortisol normal as said by Endocrinologist. She aranged MRI of brain//sella -pituoitary on urgent bases, doctor also asked for TB test..Having obs sleep apnea-non compliance of CPAP, Endocrinologist explained that she can not do any thing due to obs, sleep apnea.
Avatar m tn Dhea(NL) 458ng/DL Ref range142-1410 Testosterone, total (DSL) 346Ng/DL Ref range 190-1037 Estradiol (DSL) 32 PG/ML None given Cortisol 14.8 Ug/DL None given The doctor told me the numbers were in normal range and it is not a problem. I know that my testosterone is low for my age. I plan on losing excess weight and see what happens from there.
Avatar n tn hI, my son now 15 underwent treatment and a bone marrow transplant for Neouroblastoma at the age of four. He's been on growth hormone treatment for 3 years now but with no result. He's only 144cm tall and his endocrinologist says there's no hope because his bones have finished growing and the only suggestion is the bone stretching surgery. Can anyone suggest anything else?
Avatar f tn In terms of growth hormone, prematurity and intraventricular hemorrhage are not generally associated with growth hormone deficiency unless there are problems with other hormones also. It is most likely that your granddaughter's small size is due to her former general illness and prematurity. Babies like her need a tremendous amount of nutrition to achieve "catch up" growth, which can sometimes be hard to obtain if she doesn't eat extremely well.
Avatar m tn JPG Yes she order stimulation tests like Insuline Tolerance Test and Glucagon Stimulation test, gets critical low growth hormones in both tests and low cortisol on Glucagon stimulation test also. Being on low on TSH taking synthyroid 0.50 , low on testsoterone ,does not get therapy due to severe obs sleep apnea. High on Prolactin ,high FSH ,high LH. Specialists are not ready to do any thing, blaming that these conditions are due to obesity, which may be wrong you can guide for this.
Avatar n tn She is definitely short and body weight is too high for her height, glad to see you saw an endo. She is gh deficient and this is a very good reason for central obesity(more weight around the tummy) and short stature!!! Do not feel overwhelmed, this is good news, she has a chance for treatment, the mri is done on all of my patients before treatment is started, the best websites to go over gh include magicfoundation.
Avatar n tn The test for Growth hormone deficiency requires a stimulation test. I would try and push to get one. Low GH affects mood, stamina, body composition and so much more. It is very subtle and often overlooked by endos. I am in a support group for folks that have adult growth hormone deficiency and many of the members have subtle issues with their pituitary gland. It is not a "cure all" by any means.
766586 tn?1284383198 he just called it human growth hormone and said lots of people in hollywood take it bc they think it will help them to stay young. It was prescription and an injectible and I did it four times during stimulation: the first day, the third, the fifth and the seventh. You could ask your dr or call the pharmacy where you get your IVF meeds.
