Avatar n tn When a child passes the gh test it is not really ruling out gh treatment, I tend to describe it as gh insufficiency rather than gh deficiency, meaning you make gh but not enough to growth in a healthy fashion. So treatment with gh is still possible, diagnosis is different and we tend to fight a little harder to get it approved, there are brands that are easier than others to get help from.
233616 tn?1312787196 We characterized the GH-IGF-1 axis by analyzing the individual components of the axis (GH, IGF-1, IGF-binding protein-3 [IGFBP-3], acid-labile subunit [ALS]) and the corresponding ratios (GH/IGF-1, GH/IGFBP-3, and GH/ALS) and verified the links with circulating proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-alpha, IL-1beta, and IL-6), in 34 patients with CLD and 12 healthy controls.
Avatar f tn she weights 28 pounds. she had her GH stimulation test normal ,Blood GH level normal, and she is symptomatically having celiac, biopsy didnt confirm it though.she is on a gluten free diet because of her symptoms. Her MRI of piutitory shows its small in size, but i was told its functions are normal. eventually her endo started treating her with GH assuming she might be ISS.
Avatar n tn I dont get headaches , but do have low energy most of the time (ups and downs) (bit of depression i think) (thining hair) My height is 5 feet 6 inches and im very muscular at 82kg I had blood work 18 years ago and the doctor said the same thing, gh level 0.2 , he said it was nothing to worry about so there was no follow up. I have trained with weights in my garage for 15 years drug free.
Avatar f tn I was just diagnosed with GH. When symptoms started on Tuesday (I thought it was a yeast infection) I noticed when I would lay down that my right thigh would "fall asleep"/Go numb though when I would stand on it the sensation would go away. I woke up this morning and the feeling is throughout my entire right thigh (only the topside though). It hasn't gone away either. And it's an internal (muscular) type numbness. Though I am still able to walk and flex that leg.
Avatar n tn Doubtful, usually it is the cause of less gh secreting tissue there and usually gh deficiency, excessive gh is acromegaly and usually due to a pituitary adenoma and can be seen on mri at times if large enough. A blood test for gh and somatomedin C can help look at whether there is excessive gh. My thought is that if the growth is too fast we need to consider early puberty.
Avatar m tn This finding suggests that GH testing is imperative with all hormone blood testing, and if found to be low, GH replacement needs to be considered as part of treatment.
Avatar f tn Hyperthyroidism can cause high IGF-1 (stable measurement of growth hormone) particularly in women, so perhaps hypo can cause low GH. Thyroid removal should not cause a GH problem. The TSH fluctuation is odd -- have not seen 0.05 to 34.6 in one week -- would double check that -- keeping the thyroid levels stable may help normalize the GH levels. Also ask your endocrinologist to see if other pituitary hormones may be abnormal.
Avatar n tn Wow - no GH? Did they test GH or IGF-1 or both? GH is what the pit secretes, but IGF-1 is what the liver puts out after it metabolizes the GH and is what the body actually uses - so that is seen as the more accurate test. I also have AGHD and take GH nightly. It is an injection. The nurse will show you how to give in the thigh but honestly, the stomach, which is seems awful, is so much less painful. You just have to get over it mentally.
Avatar m tn Have you had these checked? Your GH level decreases with age and at a certain point when it gets too low ED and PE occur. You can search ways to naturally increase GH levels cause it's a hormone that is hard to test for and treat. Sleep, exercise and diet are the most important things. Increasing T levels can bring your GH levels up a certain amount as well.
220917 tn?1309784481 Craig did not have swelling when he was on GH. I am not sure of the reason why you would have swelling on GH but will try to look up some things. My personal opinion would be to not go on a diuretic for the swelling. I would want to know why you are having swelling instead. Diuretics are not harmless. you may get into electrolyte imbalances, they mess around with your kidneys etc. Let me see if I can find something out about the GH.
Avatar f tn I know I can not post pictures here. I have had what looks like to be small pimples near my anus off and on for the last few months. I suffer from hemorroids pretty bad. I tested negative in Feb for STD's but did not test for GH because I had no reason to. I have read on these forums that a discharge is not associated with GH, I feel like every month after my period, I have a slight discharge. Anyone have any information?
Avatar f tn That is why depression is best treated by raising your LH level as this can increase your GH level. I argued this with my endocrinologist and I finally convinced her to give me a GH Stimulation test. The results confirmed that I was growth hormone deficient and needless to say she was shocked as I'm only 36 and look healthy. After taking Clomid an LH analog for 2 weeks my depression and anxiety of 20 years are gone and I feel better than I have in my life and it's still getting better.
Avatar m tn If there is no thyroid or pituitary abnormality, you should discuss GH injections with an endocrinologist, who will take your entire health history into account before deciding if it would be worthwhile. I would think a short course of GH could be tried without harm, but I don't really know. It would be up to your endocrinologist.
Avatar m tn GH should also be tested at least once just for source. GH is what the pituitary puts out, and IGF-1 is what the body uses after the liver takes the GH and converts the GH for the body to use - hence the IGF-1 is more accurate to use (kinda like testing the thyroid levels and not TSH grrrr).
Avatar n tn You cannot assess gh deficiency based on a single random test, firstly be sure that a pediatric endocrinologist is the one interpreting the xrays, labs etc. Random gh levels tell us not much! the only way to tell if we are gh deficient is with a gh stim test, look at my most recent stim test posting. He is too old and tall enough for me to think that gh deficiency was missed, 5'9" might be perfect for you guys as his parents.
Avatar n tn My doctor tells me that my IGF-1 is elevated at 68 (normal 14-47). I am going to repeat the test and check my GH during a 100g glucose tolerance test. I am therefore wondering what a raised IGF-1 value can suggest if the OGTT is normal? This discussion is related to Elevated IGF-1.
