Avatar n tn Does clonidine help with the pain of opiate withdrawal? How does it help, what w/d symptoms does it alleviate, and are there bad side effects or withdrawal symptoms from the clonidine itself if taken for 5 days or so? Has anyone tried it?
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, I've been reading everyone's stories and I think I need help. I suffered a bad bone injury about a year ago. I was getting treatment without vicodin then lost my health insurance. My sister was getting vicodin and starting letting me have them for my ongoing pain. I've been taking Hydrocodone 7.5 about 6 times a day for almost 2 months. I was afraid I was getting addicted so I've only taken 1 a day for 3 days.
Avatar f tn hey 2loaded i always feel weird about answering questions that no one has answered but i also don't like seeing posts just go by with no response. are you under a doctor's care? I only did heroin briefly. i took clonodine when i was on a taper off vicodin. but i would hate to hazard a guess about what you need for heroin withdrawal. that is very serious, and i think you need to be monitored and under a doctors care. good luck.
Avatar f tn I will cut straight tot he chase. I am a vicodin addict. I have no medical need for the pills. I buy them off the street, spending 60 every 2-3 days. Ridiculous. I know. My best friend and I have been popping pills together for sometime. Today we both decided to go to our separate doctors and spill the beans. I went to my pcp and told him everything. He prescribed me methadone and clonidine. I want to quit cold turkey. I went to walgreens and purchased a sleep aide.
Avatar f tn second, my doctor prescribed two clonidine patches for me for any withdrawl symptoms. What do these do ? my doc said it woud basically knock me out...love that of course... but, i am hesitant because i had never heard of it... i know it is a little strange for a prescription lover to be afraid of a new drug...weird. but, i would like to hear about some experiences with people who have tried it before. Thank you so much.
Avatar f tn Go to your doctor and see if you can get a prescription for a drug called Clonidine. Clonidine was originally developed for high blood pressure and they found it had an odd side effect. It helps people with withdrawals from alcohol and opiates. I've tried to quit 3 times prior to this and really I was only serious about 1 of them. Clonidine will cut withdrawals noticeably. It's different for every person of course. Drugs usually don't work for me favorably....
Avatar f tn The last time I asked my Doc for something that would help the withdrawals. He prescribed Clonidine. It is a heart medication that reduces the heart rate. It helps the jittery, heart beating out of your chest feeling but it also helps everything else. I dont have diarrhea, no body aches, upset stomach, not even anxiety or grumpiness. I just feel a little groggy and sluggish, nothing thats not manageable.
Avatar f tn Do you know what I will be in for... Like the difference between vicodin withdraw or oxy withdrawal... I know the vicodin was much easier than the oxy... Does that mean this will be that much harder? Or will the short time on offset the power of the narcotic? Any words of encouragement will be soooo appreciated!!
Avatar n tn I have been on Vicodin for about 3 years ago. I have terrible pain, but I got sick of feeling cloudy-minded. I threw them all away last night. I had cut down from 2 7.5's 4 times a day, to two a day. I thought that would be enough to taper. It is not working, or it is all in my head. I have some Ultram...would that help the physical withdrawal and the pain.
349859 tn?1257790973 Does clonidine really help with easing some of the yucky wd feelings??
Avatar f tn it is not the preferred way, but it is not uncommon for doctors to prescribe something like vicodin to help in the first week or so. even neurotin. benzo for ONLY a few days to a week at max.
3160774 tn?1343705010 I have Clonidine for withdrawals how can it help. I am scared to death. Have never been in withdrawal from Opiates. I was told 36 hours prior but am so afraid of precipitated withdrawals. Has anyone been here that can give me some advice?
Avatar f tn Thanks for the support. I guess I know what I'm in for with vicodin withdrawal but not with fentynal . Nor do I know how much the vics will help with fentynal withdrawal. Will they keep the stomich and sleep issues at bay when I take off the patch ?
Avatar f tn yes it does help but it will knock you on your ***, dry mouth, go to the vitamin store and get L-tyrosine, and get SAM-e, also get melatonin for sleep, either get a potassium supplement for the leg stuff or eat alot of bananas, hope this helps
1019316 tn?1262615059 I wonder if it was just from the withdrawal from vicodin, but a withdrawal after 4 days?? I have never had a withdrawal after 4 days but I have also never taken close to ten vicodin a day for 4 days. Anyone know?
590280 tn?1310087366 i normally take up to 25 vicodin es a day i went to the dr and asked for something for my nerves and pain. so i got darvocet, and xanax. i wanna stop taking pills all together. ive taken darvocet before...i took 5 today not for a high, i didnt want to feel sick. does anyone know anything about darvocet, it it the same as vicodin? am i nuts for thinking im doing better at least ??? idk im a mess. i had to get prescribed something i couldnt do it cold turkey.
Avatar f tn We have seen a tremendous raise in the amount of patients coming in for rapid detox from Suboxone ,because the withdrawal can last weeks and is so hard. Hydrocodone seems to be easier and faster to stop.
Avatar n tn I have been prescribed Vicodin 10mg. and taking 3-4 daily for the past 5 years. I desperately want to get off and am open to entering a rehab center, but currently have no insurance. Is there any facilites out there that I can go to without having insurance? I have tried to ween off and can deal with the dysenteria, ringing in my ears, flu-like symptoms, but I can not deal with my leggs wanting to run with me and that overwhelming anxious feeling.
1687072 tn?1307043528 Please understand that I can't give advice counter to your neurologist in the case of an AVM-- which as you know is a very dangerous situation. But.. opioid withdrawal is NOT necessarily associated with increases in blood pressure. I suppose it may be in some people. But in my case, my blood pressure was very low during withdrawal.
Avatar m tn I was just prescribed clonidine and phenobarbital yesterday for my vicodin withdrawals, (anxiety) and it really has helped. Go talk to your Dr. don't be embarrassed. I doubt that taking it twice will reverse all you have done. But don't do it anymore or you will be right back where you started and have to do it all over again, be strong!!!!
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
Avatar f tn that I had read that clonidine helps those that decide to stop taking opioids for pain with the physical withdrawal symptoms, and he agreed and prescribed it. You will take it up to three times a day, for the first week or two. Then go to once per day for a week and then stop. It will help you! You'll be able to sleep, too, with it.
Avatar f tn I am taking clonidine for my Subutex withdrawal. It has definetly helped with the anxious creepy crawly feeling. It also helped with hot flashes. I wasn't given any info on not to mix it with pain meds, but you may want to call you doctor to find out. Or even a pharmacist might be able to tell. good luck!
