Avatar f tn Kids at school are beginning to notice and are asking her about it. I have been given a prescription for Clonidine. Has anyone tried Clonidine? Was the Clonidine successful? What side effects were seen?
Avatar f tn ) I can use to help HS students to be supportive and considerate and help a classmate with Tourette Syndrome feel comfortable in class? I'm also interested in any suggestions teachers have used in their classes that may help from a teacher's perspective.
Avatar f tn He also has adhd(diagnosed at age 6). He takes vyvanse 40m. for adhd, risperdone 1m. for mood disorder, and clonidine 0.2 for insomnia. He has motor ticks such as blinking his eyes ,shaking his head, twitching his shoulders, claps his hands or taps an object with his hands. He just started doing a skipping thing when he walks. Is this a tic? All of the motor tics i just mentioned are constant. The vocal tics he makes are sniffing, clearing his throat, and humming.
Avatar m tn I still have the tics occassionally, althought it disappeared temporarily when I go abroad for vacation or even just attending business fair. Is my tics considered a tourette syndrome? May I know if there is any natural nutrients to help alleviate it? Is there any remedy to tics.
Avatar f tn I had a very long list of symptoms (had severe magnesium deficiency) and included muscle spasms, muscle tics, severe heart rhythm, seizures to name a few symptoms. If there was one nutrient that could help with Tourette Syndrome magnesium would be #1 on my list. I'm not the only one to think so! :) Excerpt from Dr Axe's article Tourette Syndrome + 9 Natural Treatments... "1.Magnesium Magnesium supports the central nervous system, promoting proper muscle action and reaction.

Avatar f tn Dear Farrah , especial thanks for your reply.I'v just read the previous posts about muscle twitches.it was helpful.it LOOKS LIKE tourette or it's a real tourette syndrome?.would you tell me more about tourette syndrome?are twitches indicate lesions in my spinal cord?did you experience the tics during the attack or a relaping period?( i have it for 7 months!once per 2-3 minutes)and i also hear a crackling sound during each tic...
Avatar f tn My 5 year old daughter started what I now know are symptoms of Tourette Syndrome at the age of 2. I want to say it started with stuttering then excessive and seemingly forced eye blinking. Because those particular "tics" stopped I contributed them to normal childhood tics however every few months some new tic would begin i.e humming sounds, smelling fingers constantly.... Now at age 5 she grunts, snorts and still makes humming sounds.

1187323 tn?1264440436 Hi, I have a question regarding the link between Tourette Syndrome and Bipolar. I experienced a mild case of Tourettes around 11-12 yrs. old, (blinking eyes) that lasted about a year. I have been dx w/Bipolar. I read there is research that links Tourettes as a forerunner to Bipolar. Your thoughts? Also as an adult, when I get really upset, emotional or depressed, I get tics under my eye that can last 2 wks. or longer...
Avatar f tn Oh, I feel for you. I was just reading on another site, NOT to tell them to stop because they can't! My 11 yr old son has had tics for years. His latest one is SOO annoying because he is constantly squeaking!! The more we tell him to stop, the more he squeeks. I wish I KNEW what to do!!
Avatar n tn TOURETTE syndrome is one of several neurological motor tic disorders. I would recommend That your Doctor schedule a neurology referral to be sure of the diagnosis. And yes TOURETTE`s syndrom may involve tics of the eye muscles. But you need an accurate diagnosis and futher help. Take care.
Avatar n tn Take him to the Doc for an evaluation as it came on suddenly he will advise where you go from there.
Avatar f tn Is there a typical age when Tourette syndrome is diagnosed and is it hereditary? My 12-year-old daughter has some very obvious tics as well does my husband who has never been diagnosed.
7091144 tn?1387989943 I was finally given a prescription drug to try called clonidine which is actually a blood pressure drug that has been around for a long time. NOTE it is CLONIDINE NOT klonipine. I later found out that this same drug is helpful when going through withdrawal. It is a prescription med but your GP or family doc might be willing to help you out by prescribing this. The dosage I take for my restless leg is .1 mg but my doc writes the prescription for .2 mg and I break them in half.
Avatar f tn How do you treat Tourette Syndrome. My son does not have any of the "classic signs" of this disease, I was in a state of shock after being told he had it! I can assure you and have assured the phychiatrist that every word that comes out of his mouth is completely voluntary and is NOT a tick. Do they use any of these drugs for tourettes? At this point I have taken him off of all meds and stopped seeing the psychiatrist. Wouldn't you need to see a brain scan to confirm this Dx?
Avatar m tn tics increase as a result of stress, fatigue, boredom,or high energy emotions, anxiety etc whereas concentrating on an absorbing activity often leads to a decrease in tics. Tourette syndrome is the more severe expression of a spectrum of tic disorders, which are thought to be due to the same genetic vulnerability. Other conditions that may manifest tics are developmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, Duchene dystrophy.
Avatar f tn but I found it rather interesting to hear you say that the doctor told you that Strip throat was actually what triggers Tourette syndrome? My daughter is twelve years old now and was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome at the age of 6 or 7. But she did in fact have strip throat a few times prior to the diagnosis. I wonder if there's any truth to that and I'll have to research that very soon. Thanks for all the post!
