1818670 tn?1324702522 Hi - I have taken Clonidine for opiate withdrawal and have taken it on and off for depression. It is a blood pressure medication. It has helped alot with opiate withdrawal. What drug did you used to take? I don't know if Clonidine is a huge help for anxiety. Usually Klonipin is prescribed but that can be addictive. Also .1 milligram is low. I take .3 mg but only at night. I break it in half if I take during the day. It can make you sleepy. Hope that helps.
Avatar f tn I posted this in my long long post about opioid withdrawals but no luck so I thought I would do a new thread.... I am coming off percocet 7.5\325 2 - 5 x a day and oxy 20 mg 2 - 3 x a day for the past couple years. I have a script for clonidine .1 which isn't doing much so I called my regular doc and he is going to put me on Klonopin ( Dosage unknown until I get script tomorrow). From what I can tell these are 2 totally different drugs. Has anyone used Klonopin for opioid withdrawls?
290532 tn?1308136770 I tapered down to 6 and then saw a doc and got on Prestiq (anti-depressant), Clonidine for the withdrawal and Klonopin for Anxiety and she gave me Ambien CR for at night and in 3 days, I went CT yesterday. At first it really took away the WD feeling, but last night it was torture. I took the ambien, the klonopin and I took .1 mg of clonidine. and my legs were driving me absolutley insane, up all night in pain. My question is, can I take a higher dose of the .
Avatar m tn i dont believe u will have any withdrawal like effects from clonidine, its used to lower your blood pressure which i believes helps with the withdrawals from the suboxone.
Avatar m tn while on methadone for 10 years I was taking a quite high dose of clonidine for excessive sweating. The doctor told me to continue on the clonidine and we would taper down on that once I was on a stable dose of suboxone. He said there are no harmful interactions between the two. But whenever I take the clonidine it feels like it is kicking me into withdrawal again. severe agitation anxiety racing heart dizziness and double vision. Whats going on please?
Avatar n tn I jumped off from .5MG. I would not stay on Suboxone for years because I would think the withdrawal is more difficult. Your goal is to be drug free and opiate free. Suboxone is a buffer to get your life in order first and get ready for real recovery with meetings and therapy. My experience was this. I do think I stayed on Suboxone too long which was 18 months and 12 months should be maximum. Great medication so you do not go thru the hell of heroin withdrawal.
1013208 tn?1256824731 You indicate that you had a doc working with you probono for a month, if you have been in withdrawal? If you were taking suboxone during that month following the HC, then I would say that you are most likely going through sub withdrawal. If you are in regular opiate w/d, if should subside within about 4-7 days - at least the major symptoms, also depeinding on how much you were taking daily. I'm sorry if you are in sub withdrawal, I have been on both sides of the fence and the sub *****.
Avatar f tn ok...i took it for 10 days for withdrawal purposes too, i do not know how long you hjave been on it...but you HAVE to taper from it or you could end up with rebound high BP... so if you start to reduce your dose every 2 days, you should be ok...you shouldnt be too uncomfortable when all is said and done, but do go slow...maybe just cut pout 1/2 a pill every 2 or 3 or even 4 days... i tapered off in 4 days, but was only on it for 10... how long have you been on it?
Avatar f tn s before you went to your doc and he gave you Suboxone? If you were already through the better part of withdrawal, and the Clonidine and Gabapentin were slightly helping, putting you on that much Suboxone in my opinion would be unnecessary. I started with only a 4mg piece of Suboxone, just enough to take the withdrawal symptoms away, and I was good. Especially when trying to get off a short acting opiate, less is more with Suboxone.
Avatar f tn i really have only heard of this with people who take methadone because methadone has such a long and strong half life - meaning it attatches to your pain receptors in your brain like super glue, but mine was short lived and i swear it was because of the clonidine helping the withdrawal symptoms, it was severe and intense for about 5-6 hours, by that time i had already taken my full 32 mgs of suboxone and she called in a prescription for the clonidine that i took 3 times a day.
Avatar f tn I know how hard cold turkey is and the hell of withdrawal and maybe if you use a teeny tiny bit of suboxone it could be helpful, but I too wanted a way out of withdrawal myself when I started suboxone and I was stuck on it for years and ended up detoxing off suboxone with withdrawal 100 times worse than the one I was originally afraid of. If you stuck with the cold turkey now, you only have a few more days of it and you should start feeling better.
Avatar m tn I am actually on .3 mgs of clonidine 3 Times a day for my bp. Back in my Opiod days it helped out so much with withdrawal made me feel fine!!’ Ended up overtaking that. Now I’m all good. B12, C, D and fish oil I take. The water, fruits and vegetables will be a game changer because I’m not used to that. Man Good looking out; That’s some great advice. I’m not “special” or anything but my case is a little complex. ( all are ) so I’m no different. :so on point as what you said.
Avatar f tn Once he gets down that, he should be at the end of the 21 days and he should be able to stop with minimal discomfort. The Clonidine will help with any withdrawal symptoms he may have once he completely stops the suboxone.
Avatar m tn I've been taking pain pills narcotics for months now. I've tried to taper down ,but being an addict, I can't. I need to ask the dr. for a medicine that will get me through the physical withdrawals that I know i will go through. What medicine works the best?
Avatar f tn Clonodine and Suboxone are extremely different. Clonodine is a bp med that helps with withdrawal symptoms. Suboxone does have opiate in it. It can be used for a quick detox or used long term. Tell us more about you. What are you taking and how much, how long ? It will help us help you.
Avatar m tn I load the person up with clonidine, a benzo, some imodium... and then I give the Suboxone. The person stays in my office for at least a few hours, to get more clonidine and to get through the worst of the withdrawal. Then the patient's driver takes the person home and puts him/her to bed, and checks on him from time to time for the next day or two-- until the person is back on his feet again.
1549092 tn?1297046311 My doctor has prescribed Clonidine, a BP med used for withdrawals, and Mirapex, for restless legs, in the past. Both helped immensely, along with otc meds.
Avatar f tn Dear Doctor, I am trying very hard this evening to find an answer to this difficult question. Can the highest dose of suboxone work with w/d for at the very most 500mg opiate addiction? What is the ceiling of opiates that sub will cover? I have a friend in desperate need of sub treatment. When I started sub, I was a 320mg a day maximum oxycontin user (mostly 160mg)but tapered down to 80mg 5 days before induction and did fine.
Avatar m tn Now clonidine does help withdrawls, but you may find that the next few days get worse, hopefully not. I was on the suboxone for almost 4 months and had little w/d effects. I still take my clonidine and xanax xr along with the melatonin. I mainly take clonidine for my blood pressure it just so happened that it was also used to help with withdrawls. Theres not to many people out there who could just skip the methadone or sub and figure clonidine in itself is going to get them over the addiction.
3160774 tn?1343705010 I have Clonidine for withdrawals how can it help. I am scared to death. Have never been in withdrawal from Opiates. I was told 36 hours prior but am so afraid of precipitated withdrawals. Has anyone been here that can give me some advice?
Avatar f tn I know that several people have told me about how well Clonidine works for withdrawal symptoms. I am an addict, and I need instant gratification. I want to know what it does for the anxiety; that "crawling out of your skin" feeling. Anyone who has used it, please share!
Avatar m tn so i guess i am forced to detox which is the best thing i can do for myself. i was given clonidine .01mgs from a friend and that is all i have. will this drug be enough to help me endure the withdrawals so that i wont give in? i know its willpower and such but the anxiety literally scares the living hell out of me. im about to take my first pill now...
Avatar f tn We have seen a tremendous raise in the amount of patients coming in for rapid detox from Suboxone ,because the withdrawal can last weeks and is so hard. Hydrocodone seems to be easier and faster to stop.
