Although it doesn’t produce muscle weakness, it often causes sedation and a dry mouth. In some patients, it may lower blood pressure. Both baclofen and tizanidine have good safety records. Neither, however, can cure spasticity or improve muscle coordination or strength.
722310 tn?1234762137 My dr. put me on clonidine 0.1 2x/day and zanaflex .4 (2) 3x/day. I have been on this plan for about 7 weeks. I was on tramadol for 2 years. I have fibromyalgia. I am in incredible pain throughout my entire body. I have terrible restless leg. I am sleeping about 3 hours a night, due to the pain load. I am desperately trying to cut back on the clonidine and zanaflex and I am experiencing terrible w/d symptoms. (heart racing, anxiety, sweating, pain, nausea, etc.
Avatar f tn Hi my forum friends. :-) Has anyone had Botox injections for their spasticity? My new MS neuro wants to do injections in my back because I have severe tightness & pain/spasticity in my muscles. Two of my ribs are being pulled out and their rubbing on my shoulder blade. Avatar f tn Kids at school are beginning to notice and are asking her about it. I have been given a prescription for Clonidine. Has anyone tried Clonidine? Was the Clonidine successful? What side effects were seen?
401554 tn?1270213756 For the last 5 yrs I've been taken the clonidine patch for high BP, no side effects, but the PVC's are still there off and on.
Avatar f tn I am taking clonidine for my Subutex withdrawal. It has definetly helped with the anxious creepy crawly feeling. It also helped with hot flashes. I wasn't given any info on not to mix it with pain meds, but you may want to call you doctor to find out. Or even a pharmacist might be able to tell. good luck!

1168317 tn?1330262837 Hey there, stranger. Besides the spasticity I hope things are going better for you. Baclofen doses vary, but I know they can be upped to around 100mg or so without problems. I am on 70mg now.....
Avatar m tn I went to see my doc and he wants me to continue taking the conidine and ativan but to reduce the clonidine to .1 for two days, then 05 for a day then stop it. He advised just to take the avtivan at night until I can fall alseep on my own. He also gave me some roxicet and told me to take 3 today, 2 tomorrow and one the next day. He claims this will help me with cravings until I get into rehab where I can get something tradition for the craving...I start rehab on Monday and it lasts 5 weeks.....
Avatar f tn Clonidine was initially used as an antihypertensive but it has come to be used to treat a variety of behavioral disorders including tics, symptoms of ADHD, aggression, PTSD, anxiety, panic disorder, or sleep problems. Medication of this sort can be helpful and has shown to be most effective in conjunction with systematic behavioral programming.
Avatar f tn My problem is extensor spasticity in the right side of my back extending down the right leg. If I lie flat for more than about 10 minutes or stand for more than 30 minutes or so, my back tightens into a knot and I can't do much of anything. I don't really have back problems, per se, just this localized spasticity. I am most comfortable if I can sleep with my hips flexed close to 90 degrees.
398059 tn?1447945633 Because of my problem with my left arm recently new spasticity in my legs my neuro appoint was moved up to today. He decided that I was experience exacerbations or flare-up. When told him about the caterpillar chewing feelings in my brain he decided I should definitely have another MRI ASAP. I will be having one on next Tuesday. The dancing and feeling good last weekend only last a couple days. My arm hurts and is numb again. Also, the spasticity is back in my legs. Oh well.

Avatar f tn That's right - baclofen is a drug that's supposed to remain in your system, so that it is constantly working to keep the muscles relaxed. I think that it was Lulu who helped me out with titration, so I'll try and remember what she told me! The first week on Baclofen, take one pill a day. If you're like me, that one pill will actually do some good for the first week. Then at the end of the week, you might notice some spasticity returning.
Avatar f tn I have cervical thoracic and lumbar spondylosis for almost four years I have been having episodes of extensor spasticity in my right leg , yet no dr has mentioned spinal cord damage or compressionOr even told me what is causing my spasticity why not?
Avatar f tn DO YOU PREFER CAPS? I'LL WRITE IN CAPS FOR YOU. IT LOOKS LIKE YOU BROUGHT UP EXACTLY WHAT I WAS GOING TO SUGGEST. BACLOFEN WORKS VERY GOOD FOR ME, WELL AT LEAST ON SOME OF MY SPASTIC AREAS. I WAS ALSO GOING TO SUGGEST BOTOX, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'VE ALREADY TRIED THAT. I'D ASSUME THAT YOU'VE ALREADY TRIED PHYSICAL THERAPY SINCE YOU HAD AN INJURY? IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE JUST A YEAR OUT FROM YOUR INJURY.
Avatar f tn I've been having what I think is spasticity in my arm for some time. My right arm just aches like I worked it out no matter what position I put it in. This is at rest and when it is being used. The ache is not in the joints, but rather the muscles. They just feel tight all of the time and nothing is loosening them up. It is not cramps like charlie horses, at least in my arm. Last night was just horrible. No matter how I put my arm it just hurt.
338416 tn?1420045702 Nope, I'm ambulatory, so I'm stretching as much as possible. Exercising, too - at least I did Monday and Wednesday. And it does help - but I work sitting down, and around the middle of the day it starts tightening up on me. I get up and stretch as much as possible, but even with the stretching it was really painful for a couple of hours. I've been scheduled for a followup with the vascular guy about the phlebitis, but the next opening they have is for the 23rd.
Avatar f tn I have a question for you. A couple of years ago, I had to be taken to the ER because for 3 weeks I had the most horrible nerve pain on the outside thigh. When it began it felt like a vice grip squeezing. As it progressed it felt as if my leg muscle had shrunk because as I walked it felt like it was pulling. MRI of hip showed nothing. I was sent home with pain med. While in the MRI and laying on my back, I went into horrible spasms that hurt so badly.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your replies. JJ, thank you very much for your elaborate reply. I do seem to get ahead of myself. She says she feels better and the pain subsided a little. It's all very new so whenever her body does something, I run to google. But I'm getting better at restraining myself :) And your support is wonderful. Thank you very much. Alex, she will see her GP in 2 weeks to get her MRI report. I hope she won't still suffer by them.
