But its the pain in my chest i wanted to know about it was my doctor who prescribed the Amitriptyline tablets he said they where used years ago to treat depression but would do the same job for my pain and he said it sounds like i have damaged nerves in my chest they did take away the soreness but its comin back again i have it now about 7 months he also called it Neuropathic pain its like a burning ,stabbing ,aching pain very uncomfortable its even a worse pain tht the frozen shoulder please

I'm sorry that you are having trouble finding a Doctor to prescribe what you think you need for your pain. From everything that I've read on the patch it is the very same medication that Suboxone is.
my doctor gave me clonidine to take at night with my regurlar blood pressure medicine in the am and i read up on it and it said don't take with rx pain meds so I haven't but I also noticed that it is used for w/d's so how long do you have to wait after your out of pain meds can you start taking it?

In case some of our members don't know, Neurontin is the brand name for Gabapentin that was mentioned in several responses. It' can be very effective for some ppl.
Many Heppers experience some neuropathic pain.
I went to see my doc and he wants me to continue taking the conidine and ativan but to reduce the clonidine to .1 for two days, then 05 for a day then stop it. He advised just to take the avtivan at night until I can fall alseep on my own. He also gave me some roxicet and told me to take 3 today, 2 tomorrow and one the next day. He claims this will help me with cravings until I get into rehab where I can get something tradition for the craving...I start rehab on Monday and it lasts 5 weeks.....
Neurontin (gabapentin) can be an effective treatment for neuropathic pain, but would seem unlikely to have any effect on any other symptoms, such as gray patches, sharpness, or color saturation. As mentioned above it was first prescribed for epilepsy and is now often prescribed for neuropathic pain. There are many off label uses it is sometimes prescribed for. Someone just posted the other day that their doctor prescribed it exclusively for opiate withdrawals. That was the first time I had ever heard of it prescribed just for that. Although it doesn't take all the symptoms away I do agree that it helps some.
I take 2000mg Gabapentin for Neuropathic pain Relief qid(8000mg daily) and 60mg of Cymbalta daily.
I have a broken spine due to my service related injury incurred while serving in the Canadian Forces Regular Forces(Army).
I take care of three young children while my wife is at work.
I am in a level ten pain 24/7.
The Gabapentin gives me a couple hours of level 8 pain in the afternoon.
Any suggestions?
Hello, I was looking for some treatment options for General Neuropathic Pain as the only diagnosis my dr can provide me after negative EMGs both upper and lower extremeties and complete work up including MRIs, bone scans, x-rays, and blood tests.
My pain is debilitating sciatica like in both legs and ulnar nerve pain in both arms from shoulder down to the pinky fingers which feels like tightness in so many muscle groups. Pain for 2 years without answer or any treatment to help.
It could be neuropathic, though an unlikely possibility. Neuropathic pain can be managed with medications or nerve destruction.
3. Likely possibilities include referred pain from other regions, infections, inflammations, chronic irritation etc.
It would be best to get this evaluated by a urologist or an internist for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.

I hope someone can shed light on this. I have been experiencing neuropathic pain for 8 months after taking vitamins and supplements. My initial symptom was twitching in my left calf. This progressed with pins and needles sensation in more of my left leg. A week or so later I had similar symptoms in my right leg as well as significant numbness in my right thigh. Next I experienced parenthesis across my mid back at about th mid-thoracic level.
