10047460 tn?1407438406 Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.
Avatar f tn My methadone doctor suggested clonidine for these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it and I was wondering if it helps much, and is it worth even taking? Thanks for your responses...
974371 tn?1424653129 Thank you for your response. I did start the 1/2 Clonidine once a day about 6 days ago. Also reduced my Prozac to 10 mg once a day. So far, BP and heart rate have been ok, though I am normally on the low side. Tried skipping the Prozac yesterday but can't say I notice a difference with these medications. I am still waking up during the night with stomach grumbling which progresses to stomach ache then nausea. I get up and take an Omeprazole then take 1/2 Alprazolam about 1-2 hours later.
1762497 tn?1313272219 Here is my question over the course of the last month i was slowly weaned off a yr and a half addiction to dilaudid. This past thursday my doctor gave me a script for clonidine to help with some of the withdrawal symptoms. I am about to start taking it tonight for the 1st time as directed, how will it help ? and how will i feel in the coming days as my body adjusts to not having the Dilaudid.
Avatar f tn I posted this in my long long post about opioid withdrawals but no luck so I thought I would do a new thread.... I am coming off percocet 7.5\325 2 - 5 x a day and oxy 20 mg 2 - 3 x a day for the past couple years. I have a script for clonidine .1 which isn't doing much so I called my regular doc and he is going to put me on Klonopin ( Dosage unknown until I get script tomorrow). From what I can tell these are 2 totally different drugs. Has anyone used Klonopin for opioid withdrawls?
877402 tn?1241569071 Opioid addiction isn't a moral or mental weakness. It's a chronic medical condition that results from changes in the brain in susceptible people. Once narcotic addiction is established, escaping the cycle of detox and relapse is typically a long-term process. Breaking free of prescription drug abuse takes much more than willpower. Fortunately, medications and counseling can improve the chances of success.
Avatar f tn Kids at school are beginning to notice and are asking her about it. I have been given a prescription for Clonidine. Has anyone tried Clonidine? Was the Clonidine successful? What side effects were seen?

401554 tn?1270213756 For the last 5 yrs I've been taken the clonidine patch for high BP, no side effects, but the PVC's are still there off and on.
Avatar f tn I am taking clonidine for my Subutex withdrawal. It has definetly helped with the anxious creepy crawly feeling. It also helped with hot flashes. I wasn't given any info on not to mix it with pain meds, but you may want to call you doctor to find out. Or even a pharmacist might be able to tell. good luck!
320944 tn?1245966599 Thanks for caring, I have not had any tram since the day i posted which was 09/13/2010. I got some clonidine .02mg that i take twice a day. The clonidine is actually used for high blood pressure which i do have now from stopping the tram, but there is also some kind of chemical in the clonodine that helps you clear off your opiate receptors, therefore reducing and eliminating your craving for opiate like drugs. Best thing is a months supply only costs $11.00 without insurance.
Avatar m tn 1mg at 10am, 4 pm since i started and trazodone 100mg at night for sleep... anyone have experience with these? ive heard clonidine if you just stop taking it it can spike your blood pressure... and trazodone is addictive? i dunno.... anyway any comments would help.. i was gonna start today by reducing the trazodone in half and tomorrow cut back to just one clonidine a day for 3 more days... sound alright?
Avatar m tn I am not a doctor and you should consult a doctor before taking my or anyones advice of medication and WD processes because everyone is different. I am at day 7 of WD's and my method worked great with MINIMAL WD symptoms. I Still feeling a few but its very tolerable and can be dealt with easily. I have experienced very very horrible WD's in the past and came up with my own method of stopping.
Avatar f tn The anti-nausea effect is very nice, but these meds also make you very sleepy (as does the Clonidine). They are prescription meds, so your hubby will need to see a Dr for them, but it will be worth it. Just tell the doc that you wish to try these meds, before trying the 'serious' ones, like Ambien. Theres also diphenhydramine (Benedryl) that you can buy OTC. It's used in treating allergies & in OTC sleep aids.
974371 tn?1424653129 I have read a lot on these boards of people complaining of nausea, me included. I have suffered with it daily for months, no relief even from Zofran. One Doc said I had a motility disorder, another one said IBS. I was pretty much confined to home. Read ginger tea helped so tried that, with some relief. Saw a GI doctor at Stanford who suggested Ginger and Acupuncture. I had gotten acupuncture before with great results for sciatic issues. Made an appt with my acupuncture doctor, who is great!

Avatar f tn Clonidine is amazing for withdrawal. Taking .2 mg is extremely hard to stay awake on for the first hour.
Avatar m tn I went to see my doc and he wants me to continue taking the conidine and ativan but to reduce the clonidine to .1 for two days, then 05 for a day then stop it. He advised just to take the avtivan at night until I can fall alseep on my own. He also gave me some roxicet and told me to take 3 today, 2 tomorrow and one the next day. He claims this will help me with cravings until I get into rehab where I can get something tradition for the craving...I start rehab on Monday and it lasts 5 weeks.....
Avatar f tn Clonidine was initially used as an antihypertensive but it has come to be used to treat a variety of behavioral disorders including tics, symptoms of ADHD, aggression, PTSD, anxiety, panic disorder, or sleep problems. Medication of this sort can be helpful and has shown to be most effective in conjunction with systematic behavioral programming.
Avatar m tn I'm on week 9 of sovaldi/ribavirin for GT. My co-workers are about ready to shoot me. My doc prescribed Clonidine for insomnia and anxiety but it hasn't helped the rage. Thank you, orphanedhawk, for the tips!
Avatar f tn I called pain mngt dr today and they jumped my *** for quitting and told me go to er, then er dr gave me nausea med, clonidine, and more norcos. I took the nausea med and clonidine but 6 hrs later still bad. I gave in and took a Norco, feel 90% better. So what do I do? I cant do rehab, I have 4 kids and would lose my job. My pain mngt dr said they will put me on different meds to detox but those sound bad too, and what about my pain? The pain is what started this hell.
Avatar m tn Maybe see if your doctor can prescribe you some Phenegren. It is for nausea and vomiting. It also makes you drowsy, which may help you get more sleep. It is also non-addictive.
