clonidine (it's actually a blood pressure medication) is typically used a lot for opiate wd's....it works because during wd's, your blood pressure tends to rise and you get uncomfortable symptoms, and the clonidine helps your blood pressure return to normal....only thing to watch out for is if your blood pressure is NOT that high, because then the clonidine can make you very dizzy, lightheaded and woozy....

I believe you gave me some advice about suboxone this morning(thanks for that) and my husband is currently on clonidine for his blood pressure. I am on blood pressure medicine also (but unfortunately its not clonidine cuz I really like the way that made me feel) so I do know a bit about hypertension. The comment about blood pressure and metabolism being related is completely false. Everyone knows the more you exercise, eat healthy etc.- you lower your blood pressure.
I am taking clonidine for my Subutex withdrawal. It has definetly helped with the anxious creepy crawly feeling. It also helped with hot flashes.
I wasn't given any info on not to mix it with pain meds, but you may want to call you doctor to find out. Or even a pharmacist might be able to tell.

My question is, should I try to quit the Norco cold turkey knowing I will still need migraine medicine or should I ask for Clonidine and tell my doctor the truth of why I'm asking for it? I have enough Norco to be able to taper down for a week or two if that will make this process any eaiser. I am actually more concered about the headaches and physical symptoms that I am the mental.
1mg at 10am, 4 pm since i started and trazodone 100mg at night for sleep... anyone have experience with these? ive heard clonidine if you just stop taking it it can spike your blood pressure... and trazodone is addictive? i dunno.... anyway any comments would help.. i was gonna start today by reducing the trazodone in half and tomorrow cut back to just one clonidine a day for 3 more days... sound alright?

I went to see my doc and he wants me to continue taking the conidine and ativan but to reduce the clonidine to .1 for two days, then 05 for a day then stop it. He advised just to take the avtivan at night until I can fall alseep on my own. He also gave me some roxicet and told me to take 3 today, 2 tomorrow and one the next day. He claims this will help me with cravings until I get into rehab where I can get something tradition for the craving...I start rehab on Monday and it lasts 5 weeks.....
I was just in the hospital for two weeks while the drs performed every test possible to explain my hyperadenergic state. Finally they put me on Clonidine 0.1 mg 3 times a day and carvadilol at 12.5 mg 2 times a day. They were so puzzled by my positional tachycardia(fast heart rate) of 120-150 and my blood pressure getting as high at 222/138. All I was doing is getting up to walk around. I am currently 3 weeks into stopping cold turkey from dilaudid 16mg every 8 hours for severe migraines for almost a year. My dr gave me clonidine and klonopin for the w/d symptoms. I would say the worst w/d days lasted about 7 days. My question is, is now I'm 3 weeks in and I'm having some good days and some bad days. Not cravings at all, just physical. Extreme fatigue, weakness, hot/cold sweats, shivering, low grade ever, anxiety, muscle/bone aches, my body hurts so bad.
By mid-day Friday, I had a full blown migraine with all the side effects, which had been normal for me prior to the methadone treatment. It is still going full steam, the Morphine has no effect. I cannot keep any food or much water down. Then this morning, I started having seizures/convulsions, 2 so far. I have no history of any kind of seizure, so this is new territory for me. My question is this: will the E.R. help me, or is this normal (and not dangerous) for methadone withdrawal?
hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.
second, my doctor prescribed two clonidine patches for me for any withdrawl symptoms. What do these do ? my doc said it woud basically knock me out...love that of course... but, i am hesitant because i had never heard of it... i know it is a little strange for a prescription lover to be afraid of a new drug...weird. but, i would like to hear about some experiences with people who have tried it before.
