Avatar f tn have u ever tried a hormone replacement verses clonidine for menopause?
Avatar m tn I have been in menopause for 1 year, 6 1/2 months and I have just turned 52. I think sometimes it is hereditary as to when things happen to your body. Every month though right around the time I used to have a period, my DH says my attitudes change as if I were PMSing only not quite so severe. I welcomed Menopause!! After 4 children and waay too many periods, I was ready to take a break from the monthly terror that I would become. lol I'll take my hot flashes any day of the week!
Avatar f tn progesteril is the best treatment for hot flashes and also for symptoms of menopause.
Avatar f tn However if it is not helping then other medications are available for control of distressing hot flushes. Clonidine is one such drug. Consult your Doctor regarding the same. Also life style modification including dietary adjustments and regular exercise will help. Hope this helps.

880900 tn?1467270141 Just to let you all know: I had my blood pressure taken at the doctor's today and it read 85/55. That's why I've been feeling so weak after a month of w/d. The Dr said that if he gave me Clonidine, I'd die, because my blood pressure was so low. He advised me to increase my salt intake and drink lots and lots of fluids, as well as drink about 1 litre of Pedialite a day. Hope this helps anyone out there who may be thinking of taking Clonidine to help with sweats or sleep.
Avatar f tn hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.
Avatar f tn Clonidine was initially used as an antihypertensive but it has come to be used to treat a variety of behavioral disorders including tics, symptoms of ADHD, aggression, PTSD, anxiety, panic disorder, or sleep problems. Medication of this sort can be helpful and has shown to be most effective in conjunction with systematic behavioral programming.

Avatar f tn second, my doctor prescribed two clonidine patches for me for any withdrawl symptoms. What do these do ? my doc said it woud basically knock me out...love that of course... but, i am hesitant because i had never heard of it... i know it is a little strange for a prescription lover to be afraid of a new drug...weird. but, i would like to hear about some experiences with people who have tried it before. Thank you so much.
Avatar m tn so i just got out of the ER. i had a stroke 7 years ago and my leg was getting really numb again and i thought i was having another stroke. i told the dr. about my hydro addiction and he said that the symptoms i am having are from the w/d's. he gave me some clonidine(i think thats how its spelled) to get me off the tabs and its suppose to help with the w/d. anyone with any experience with this pill?
Avatar f tn I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable. I know this is a slow and low taper, is it worth getting it?
Avatar f tn My Dr. prescribed me Clonidine .1mg (2 per day) It does seem to help.
Avatar f tn My methadone doctor suggested clonidine for these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it and I was wondering if it helps much, and is it worth even taking? Thanks for your responses...
Avatar f tn I have been taking clonidine for the side effects of the hot flashes, and I must say, it helps quite a bit. It also works like a sleeping pill for quite some time, and that is very short-acting. Clonidine is not the same as Klonipin, and which is a sedative. Clonidine is a high Blood pressure drug but used for a variety of other causes. (I started out with .1 mg and am now taking .2 mg) it;s very cheap also, and I thought just worth mentioning, as I have never heard this mentioned anywhere.
Avatar n tn I am also being treated for hypothyroidism. Any suggestions for what is causing these hot flashes/night sweats?
Avatar f tn BP too low and pulse. So thankyou for that advice...I actually feel abit stronger and Im sure sleep will follow!!! Im on my way!!! Good Luck to all...I'll check back in tommorrow!!
Avatar m tn thxs for the reply I'm taking.

1762497 tn?1313272219 Clonidine works amazing for more w/d symptoms than most realize.I quit c/t15-10mg lortab a day.If it weren't for the clonidine dunno if I would have been able2function.Congrats on ur decision.Come here often keep us posted.Look at the Thomas recipe get that stuff too.Good luck.
Avatar n tn How does it help, what w/d symptoms does it alleviate, and are there bad side effects or withdrawal symptoms from the clonidine itself if taken for 5 days or so? Has anyone tried it?
877402 tn?1241569071 Opioid addiction isn't a moral or mental weakness. It's a chronic medical condition that results from changes in the brain in susceptible people. Once narcotic addiction is established, escaping the cycle of detox and relapse is typically a long-term process. Breaking free of prescription drug abuse takes much more than willpower. Fortunately, medications and counseling can improve the chances of success.
