Avatar f tn hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.
880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn I'm on week 9 of sovaldi/ribavirin for GT. My co-workers are about ready to shoot me. My doc prescribed Clonidine for insomnia and anxiety but it hasn't helped the rage. Thank you, orphanedhawk, for the tips!
1015921 tn?1251709372 t know me and confessed to an opiate addiction I was prescribed Clonidine .1mg 4 a day for 3 days, 3 aday for 3 days and 1 a day for 3 days. plus some mild Klonopine .25. thats about equal to 2.5 mg valium. Klonopine was a waste but that freakin Clonidine is a blood pressure med also used to help alcohol. opiate, and benzo withdrawels. Call it what you want but I just finished 2 days starting 3 and I feel pretty good this morning. That stuff knocks me out like a light.
Avatar f tn Give it 2-3 weeks becaue his tolerance needs to build up first. The Clonidine will also help with the shortness of breath and Insomnia. I also take an amino acid supplement, L-THEANINE, which helps balance out some of the overstimulation that Vyvanse and other stimulants (caffeine) can cause and it helps with ADHD on its own as well. It can be bought OTC at GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe.
Avatar f tn My Dr. prescribed me Clonidine .1mg (2 per day) It does seem to help.
774059 tn?1235681948 I was prescribed Clonidine for my Fentanyl patch WD symptoms. I think it helped me a little through the first symptoms, but it was a painfull process. I don't think you can ever take all the pain out of WD; it is inevitable. I was told to take it at night, but found it was actually keeping me awake. One of the side effects is insomnia, which is one of the last things I need, so I stopped taking it after a couple of weeks.
Avatar m tn thxs for the reply I'm taking.
401095 tn?1351391770 Found this on it so i guess it is not what caused the shaking in my hand..scared me..i am like" oh no..now i have Parkinsons" LOL,,it was recommended for cleansing the system after toxin abuse and i figured i could use some of that...anyway..i hope it does not happen again Reliable evidence suggests that lecithin and choline may protect against liver damage and may help lower cholesterol levels. Their ability to improve memory and other cognitive functions is uncertain, however.
Avatar f tn I posted this in my long long post about opioid withdrawals but no luck so I thought I would do a new thread.... I am coming off percocet 7.5\325 2 - 5 x a day and oxy 20 mg 2 - 3 x a day for the past couple years. I have a script for clonidine .1 which isn't doing much so I called my regular doc and he is going to put me on Klonopin ( Dosage unknown until I get script tomorrow). From what I can tell these are 2 totally different drugs. Has anyone used Klonopin for opioid withdrawls?
1335947 tn?1275685447 Its for high blood pressure, they have also used it for insomnia, and adhd in children, dosing for wd's are usually .4mgs .. I have tried it.. It will help with the chills, watery eyes, and runny nose.. It wont help with the cramps!!! Nor the lower back pain!!! It also gives you dry mouth. I could fall asleep for a lil bit, but would wake back up very uncomfortable!! I don't know how it works for others though. Read up on it!! When they gave it to me, I googled it!!!
198154 tn?1337787265 Clonidine worked great for me. Doc gave me .1mgs about 3 weeks worth. taken twice a day. No side effects for me being that I am 6'3" 225lbs. It takes alittle more for us Big Boys.
Avatar m tn I have been on the Clonidine for just about a month now. I have missed a dose here and there, and man that is not something I want to try to do.. That is why I am kind of worried about it. I take 0.1mg, 3 times a day. I missed the one I usually take right before going to sleep and I woke up around 3 or 4am with the worst migrane headace in the world.
915211 tn?1243899281 I actually once did Suboxone when I went to rehab (the one place that acknowledged my problem) and it worked after 7 days, but then the insomnia continued for the next week till I was put back on the buprenorphine in preparation for surgery for hip problems-- the thing which exacerbated my addiction-. I took/take enormous amounts of the drug- up to 60 of the 50mg pills per day. I would wake up and pop about 18 of them, then just keep taking more and more throughout the day.
Avatar n tn Sorry wrong post- i meant to say clonidine is used in most detoxes around the country for opiates. it helps alot with the symphatic nervous system problems opiate withdrawal presents. it helps with the sweating, hot/cold flashes, blood pressure fluctuations, and insomnia.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the detailed update. I'm glad you are getting better. That's great. I hope that continues for you! And that the I've been meaning to send in an update too on Clonidine, etc. Since starting the Clonidine, my pulse has gone down to being in the 70's or 80's, which is great for me. I cannot take a higher dose b/c of low BP. My pulse still goes way up when I climb my stairs or other mild exertion.
Avatar f tn Hi Cleo. I'm in similar situation as you. I stopped hydros 5 days ago & began taking either, prescribed, clonidine .1mg, Ativan 1mg prn, or Mirapex for rls. I'm on day 5 of wd & still have some anxiety, restless legs, & insomnia, so I'm continuing to take something. It makes me nervous because I have no idea how I will ever fall asleep without taking something. I've had sleep issues long time, pain meds just helped w that some. Ughh...
Avatar f tn is there anyone trying to get off subutex after heroin (snorted not iv) for whom clonidine has helped without serious bp issues?
Avatar f tn Will the clonidine make me feel bad? Can I die from these withdrawals? Can I sleep this off?
Avatar m tn Hi, ask your doctor about clonidine. : ) Non-addictive, used for sub w/d.
Avatar n tn Can anyone tell me if there are contraindications with combining the three of these? The person is experiencing insomnia (even though Ambien is supposed to keep you asleep for 7-8 hours), wakes up several times per night, is restless, seems to be experiencing some sort of mental confusion during the day, etc. Also, although the cough syrup (Pennkinetic) was optional, they now regularly use it (and if it is not given to them, actually ask to have it).
Avatar f tn Kids at school are beginning to notice and are asking her about it. I have been given a prescription for Clonidine. Has anyone tried Clonidine? Was the Clonidine successful? What side effects were seen?
401554 tn?1270213756 For the last 5 yrs I've been taken the clonidine patch for high BP, no side effects, but the PVC's are still there off and on.
Avatar m tn I've been taking pain pills narcotics for months now. I've tried to taper down ,but being an addict, I can't. I need to ask the dr. for a medicine that will get me through the physical withdrawals that I know i will go through. What medicine works the best?
1203675 tn?1285875434 Oh yeah, there area few things you can ask the doctor for. Trazodone is an old school antidepressant with sedative properties that's widely prescribed for withdrawal induced insomnia. It's woth a try. Also, hydroxyzine (Atarax,Vistaril) is a sedating antihistamine that's useful for sleep. You can also ask to try clonidine.
