Avatar f tn hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.
417564 tn?1287982827 I just spoke with Steven and there is someone he works with sending clonidine home for us. I realize we should be under a dr.'s care but we aren't. 1. Can we both take it? 2. 1 per night, correct? Could we 1/2 one tonight, would that help? 3. Is there a reason we should not use this?
Avatar f tn If the hot flashes are too distressing then additional medications like clonidine may help. Clonidine is an anti-hypertensive drug that also helps with the hot flashes. Consult your Doctor. Take care & good luck.
1481176 tn?1291392092 Is this something that I am just going to have to learn to live with? My search for a prognosis for autonomic dysfunction on the internet has not been very encouraging. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Clonidine is not an anti anxiety medication, but rather an anti hypertensive medication (used to treat high BP), it is Rx'd a lot during detox to help keep BP down, and does seem to have a calming effect for some people. It doesn't have a HUGE potential for abuse, but it should only be used short term, during the initial phases of detox. Also, never take more than Rx'd, there is a good possibility you could become hypotensive, which could result in a medical emergency.
Avatar n tn Hi, My question relates to blood pressure during sex. I'm 29 years old, and have some family history of hypertension, so I'm very mindful of my blood pressure. I check it regularly, and my resting BP is always around 115-125/75-85. I became curious about what my blood pressure does during sex, so I decided to check it. Halfway through, my blood pressure had elevated to 150/90, and at climax my blood pressure was 198/97.
Avatar m tn While I am not on Atenolol for high blood pressure I thought this might be the best area for this question since Atenolol is often prescribed for high blood pressure. I was prescribed Atenolol for anxiety. Recently I was put on 4mg of Tizanidine once a day for back issues. I know that Tizanidine is similar to Clonidine and I have read that if you stop Atenolol while on Clonidine you could go into hypertensive crisis due to alpha antagonism. I am curious if this is also an issue with Tizanidine.
Avatar n tn then 3 years back i become hypertensive and have palpitaion ..... now since last one year I have a pulsing sensation that I can feel throughout my body. It is in rhythm with my heartbeat and the heartbeat is always a steady, normal beat. The pulsing sensation can be felt at all times (standing, sitting, laying down) but is more predominant laying down and especially on the areas where there is pressure upon the body.
Avatar n tn So I TOOK CONTROL of my OWN health, which is why my BP has been stable now for about three years. I realize now I should have been put on Clonidine six or seven years ago. But, because doctors are formally trained NOT to prescribe Clonidine until pretty much nothing else works, I almost died in the ER before they finally put me on Clonidine.
656243 tn?1231288052 I just wanted to say that my psychiatrist just prescribed clonidine for anxiety. I am on Klonopin also. I couldn't find much info on using clonidine for anxiety, but at least now I know it's been prescribed for other people with anxiety too. I do NOT have high blood pressure.
Avatar n tn (think phone calls , conversations) I do very badly with meds (mast cell issue?) so was hoping for an Integrative med solution...For context note other symptoms go with it - impossible to control temps- one minute chills and freezing, the next hot surges so strong i've ripped the buttons clear off my shirt/.
4605616 tn?1362003158 Clonidine is an anti-hypertensive med that is NOT "addicting". That being said, after being on it for a few weeks, it's recommended that it be weaned, due to rebound hypertension issues. Klonopin (or Clonazepam) is a benzodiazepine, (anti-anxiety medication) that can be habit-forming. These two meds gets mixed up a lot.
Avatar f tn I used to take lisinipril...low dose of 5mg mainly to help my kidneys as I am diabetic. Over one year went up to lisinipril 40 mg and it stopped working. I was put on propranolol and then metoprolol with the following awful side effects: dry mouth, shortness of breath. They did lower my pressure though. Along with these, I took HCTZ 12.5 mg which also have me those same sided effects.
Avatar n tn After six years of treatment for hypertension I have discovered it was caused by medications and their interactions. Discontinuing these and changing nothing else my blood pressure is lower than 115/75. Furthermore the blood pressure elevating effects of these medications has been reported many times in medical journals. I was prescribed effexor which raises blood pressure by itself. My doctors didn't tell me this.
Avatar n tn I have no other problems other than herniated c5-c6 and occipital/trigeminal neuralgia and have been on neurontin for 6 months....I am concerned...why am I hypertensive...I first thought it was because I was having pain but I took pain med and BP really doesn't come down much....I am not really in any pain just the gas pains occasionally and I am walking but I am afraid to do too much because of my BP...Could the CO2 be compressing some of my vessels causing me to be hypertensive?
Avatar m tn I'm on week 9 of sovaldi/ribavirin for GT. My co-workers are about ready to shoot me. My doc prescribed Clonidine for insomnia and anxiety but it hasn't helped the rage. Thank you, orphanedhawk, for the tips!
Avatar f tn Clonidine (Klonopin) can work in patients with reduced sympathetic activity. Ironically an anti-hypertensive drug, Clonidine promotes production and release of epinephrine and norepinephrine. Hope some of this makes since...hope it helps a bit.
Avatar m tn No doubt you get the headaches your heart is beating too fast for the blood to go to the brain in the way its intended to. As for being tired that make sense too. Think about if you had run marathons and your heart rate was super high during that race.....you would be so physically tired after you'd want to take a nap because your heart is working way too hard. I don't know it seems to me like you are on an awful lot of drugs for tach. or a fib.
Avatar f tn Kids at school are beginning to notice and are asking her about it. I have been given a prescription for Clonidine. Has anyone tried Clonidine? Was the Clonidine successful? What side effects were seen?
Avatar f tn Kinda high but not hypertensive high. If you have hypertensive high they put you on bed rest. If you have pre-clampsia you would see your doctor more often for high risk pregnancy. And protein would show in your urine.
401554 tn?1270213756 For the last 5 yrs I've been taken the clonidine patch for high BP, no side effects, but the PVC's are still there off and on.
Avatar n tn I have no UT infection no signs or symptoms of prostatic enlargment but only urgency of urination . somtimes few drops pass invoulantry .I tried much but false .Please help me .
Avatar f tn I am taking clonidine for my Subutex withdrawal. It has definetly helped with the anxious creepy crawly feeling. It also helped with hot flashes. I wasn't given any info on not to mix it with pain meds, but you may want to call you doctor to find out. Or even a pharmacist might be able to tell. good luck!
Avatar f tn most painfully in my knees and hips. Not a great combination for trying to lose weight. Has anyone found any low impact excercise that works? On a different note. I am currently on Asacol (12 a day) and Remicade (every 8 weeks). I have an anal vaginal fistule. I am down to 3 movements a day. The issue I am having now is when I have to urinate. It is like as soon as I feel like I need to go....I better get moving. I barely make it to the bathroom. I have never had this urgency before.
Avatar m tn 1mg at 10am, 4 pm since i started and trazodone 100mg at night for sleep... anyone have experience with these? ive heard clonidine if you just stop taking it it can spike your blood pressure... and trazodone is addictive? i dunno.... anyway any comments would help.. i was gonna start today by reducing the trazodone in half and tomorrow cut back to just one clonidine a day for 3 more days... sound alright?
