401554 tn?1270213756 For the last 5 yrs I've been taken the clonidine patch for high BP, no side effects, but the PVC's are still there off and on.
198154 tn?1337787265 Clonidine worked great for me. Doc gave me .1mgs about 3 weeks worth. taken twice a day. No side effects for me being that I am 6'3" 225lbs. It takes alittle more for us Big Boys.
Avatar f tn It is a medication for high blood pressure but lots of people use it to help with opiate withdrawals, so it depends. What did the doctor say about why they gave them to you? Are you w/ding from opiates? or do you have high blood pressure? What milligram of clonodine did the doc give you?
Avatar f tn When my systolic blood pressure goes to over 200, should I go to the hospital. I take 40 mg. of Lisinopril twice per day; Diovan 320mg - twice per day and Clonidine HCL 0.2 mg at bedtime. My Nephrologist wants me to take the Clonidine in the mornings also, but I cannot function - I am too dizzy and weak. I have had a stent placed in the artery leading to my left kidney and my pressure has gotten higher.
529295 tn?1212772180 My husband is suffering with uncontrolled high blood pressure. He is 54 years old and in excellent physcial condition. He recently went to the hospital because he was having chest pains and pain in his left arm. EKG show satisfactory and took a stress test which showed no ischemia. He was released from the hospital and despite the emergency room test his BP continues to be erratic and uncontrolled with numbers like 161/95 after taking 4 pills.
Avatar n tn clonidine is used for many different things: high blood pressure, excessive sweating, adhd, tourettes, restless leg syndome, migranes, bad menstration, flushing related to menopause, methadoneand opiatedetox, withdrawal from alcoholand benzodiazepines/valium.clonidine by epidural injection has been used to treat cancer pain.
Avatar f tn If I can't get the clonodin (spelling?) - does it matter which sort of BP med you get? My mom takes a med for high blood pressure- would that work? I can't really afford to go on line and buy an right now but hear they work great for w/d. In case when I'm done with my taper I suffer any wd's- I'll have them to take to help calm me. Thanks for your responses! If I get any this time! lol!
Avatar f tn clonidine is originally for high blood pressure, and since the high bp causes a lot of the withdrawal symptoms (racing heart, sweats, etc) the Clonidine is suppose to lower your bp and help with these symptoms. It is possible your bp is dropping too low. Do you have a blood pressure cuff and have you talked to your doctor? You can go to a walgreens/walmart and have blood pressure taken as well.
417564 tn?1287982827 If you are not hypertensive or have high blood pressure due to opiate withdrawals, it can substancially lower your BP to dangerous levels. hence why you should really be under a MD's care before taking this.
Avatar m tn It IS a pain to have to anything extra while detoxing but it IS important to know what your normal blood pressure is so please take the time to check it. Of course, during active opiate use, your blood pressure will read lower than it normally would. I have used it at home for detox at .05 mgs at a time with good results. .1 Mgs was too much for me at 5'6" x 115 pounds so use your common sense if a doctor is not available. Be safe!
Avatar m tn Recently my doctor put me on clonidine for anxiety and high blood pressure( constantly 140/100 being calm. Now to my problem, it all started 6 months ago one night after drinking a couple red bulls, smoking some cigarettes, and watching a funny film with some friends. Then my friend offered me a shot of cheap vodka and I drank it. I felt weird 5 minutes afterwards. Something funny came on the TV and I laughed which triggered a massive shock through my body.
Avatar m tn Hi, I believe you gave me some advice about suboxone this morning(thanks for that) and my husband is currently on clonidine for his blood pressure. I am on blood pressure medicine also (but unfortunately its not clonidine cuz I really like the way that made me feel) so I do know a bit about hypertension. The comment about blood pressure and metabolism being related is completely false. Everyone knows the more you exercise, eat healthy etc.- you lower your blood pressure.
880900 tn?1467270141 I’m pretty sure clondine is a high blood pressure medication to reduce hypertension. It sounds like some side effects of taking clonidine may be helpful with w/d's. I haven’t tried it for that, yet, however, I took it once to reduce my BP and I accidentally took too much and I was literally walking sideways, my BP got dangerously low....(if that happens, drink lots of H2o), so, IMO, I would be very careful with it and take a very low dose. It’s nothing to mess around with….
Avatar f tn Beachwalker, I have some very good news for you. I know of drug that is non-addictive and most drugs don't work on me at all and this one not only worked but it blew me away at how effective it was! The name of the drug is called Clonidine and not Kolonopin. It was originally made for high blood pressure, but don't worry, even you don't have high blood pressure, it won't hurt you.
1006065 tn?1251478669 High pain levels will cause your blood pressure to be high. Also the clondine will cause your blood pressure to be low. I seriously advise you to go to the ER as soon as possible. As Red said it is better to be safe. When your blood pressure is so low it puts a strain on your heart and you have other medical issues as well so please go ahead and see the the ER doctor. True he does not know your history but you can fill him/her in.
Avatar f tn Clonidine is a powerful drug///not addicting but can affect ur blood pressure drastically//should be used under a dr's care It slows the body down and helps sleep, anxiety and the runs....and should be stopped when physical wds has passed...if a person takes it longer than a couple of weeks it needs to be stopped a bit slowly//not for the same reasons other drugs do...but cos of body adjustment a person with a low BP during wd should beware of clonidine...
Avatar f tn Actually, a spike in blood pressure is a very common symptom of WD. Thus the reason for the foggy head/headache during the acute phase. The clonidine helped immensely and even helps with sleep.
Avatar m tn It is really amazing my pain is completely almost gone, with the exception of a little soreness. I have starting weaning myself from the oxy and was going to ask my doc for some clonidine. How much does it really help with the w/d symptoms?
Avatar f tn blood pressure was my first thought...do get it checked...withdrawl can cause an increase in bp...especialy a tough wd...feel for u and be safe...
441267 tn?1211687001 To reach max blood pressure benifits clonidine takes 14 -20 days to work so unless you have a native blood pressure that is very low you should have no issues using it for a short period of time.
