Avatar f tn Currently am on Procardia 60 mg XL Bid, Triamterene 100 mg daily, Clonidine 0.2 mg tid, Valturna 300/320 mg daily. I am 5, 6 and weigh 126. And yes for the last 6 months I have taken the medication, done what lab has been ordered, x-rays etc. But my blood pressure swings up and down. I can go from 150/110 to 220/134. My distolic never goes down lower then 110. I still (best way to describe it) is I get waken up by headaches about 1-3 in the morning.
441267 tn?1211687001 To reach max blood pressure benifits clonidine takes 14 -20 days to work so unless you have a native blood pressure that is very low you should have no issues using it for a short period of time.
198154 tn?1337787265 Clonidine worked great for me. Doc gave me .1mgs about 3 weeks worth. taken twice a day. No side effects for me being that I am 6'3" 225lbs. It takes alittle more for us Big Boys.
Avatar m tn 1mg at 10am, 4 pm since i started and trazodone 100mg at night for sleep... anyone have experience with these? ive heard clonidine if you just stop taking it it can spike your blood pressure... and trazodone is addictive? i dunno.... anyway any comments would help.. i was gonna start today by reducing the trazodone in half and tomorrow cut back to just one clonidine a day for 3 more days... sound alright?
401554 tn?1270213756 For the last 5 yrs I've been taken the clonidine patch for high BP, no side effects, but the PVC's are still there off and on.
Avatar f tn Be careful not to think more is better because you will just drop your blood pressure and end up in the ER or worse. Clonidine is a blood pressure medication but is known to ease WD in very small dosages. Ok if prescribed by your doctor. I like patch better because you will not try to take more to make you feel better, Good luck..
Avatar m tn It IS a pain to have to anything extra while detoxing but it IS important to know what your normal blood pressure is so please take the time to check it. Of course, during active opiate use, your blood pressure will read lower than it normally would. I have used it at home for detox at .05 mgs at a time with good results. .1 Mgs was too much for me at 5'6" x 115 pounds so use your common sense if a doctor is not available. Be safe!
Avatar f tn t start on any med like that without a doctor and for the life of me I cannot remember why the clonidine is the blood pressure med to use. ( My brain is still not working well.) You do need to monitor you blood pressure if you are taking it. Talk with your doc.
589824 tn?1238796813 2 three times a day and have been for over a year for blood pressure and intially to help with withdrawls as I tapered my dose of methadone down from 100-120mgs a day to 30mg. I still have to take it do to my hypertension, so first thing I would check is his blood pressure, just to make sure that it isnt high. After about 1month of taking clonidine there is hardly any sedating feeling as long as you take it as prescribed, but it can be abused just like any medication.
1762497 tn?1313272219 The clonidine is simple...(Ive used it for withdrawl before also) it is a blood pressure medication that with lower your blood pressure to help you feel mor relaxed. Whjen you are going through withdrawls your BP is raised and this helps. It will relax you and make you more comfortable during this. Withdrawl *****, i wont lie, but it only lasts for a day or 2. you might feel sick, might be sick, feel tired, mood swings...
Avatar f tn my doctor gave me clonidine to take at night with my regurlar blood pressure medicine in the am and i read up on it and it said don't take with rx pain meds so I haven't but I also noticed that it is used for w/d's so how long do you have to wait after your out of pain meds can you start taking it?
Avatar f tn Kids at school are beginning to notice and are asking her about it. I have been given a prescription for Clonidine. Has anyone tried Clonidine? Was the Clonidine successful? What side effects were seen?
Avatar f tn It is a medication for high blood pressure but lots of people use it to help with opiate withdrawals, so it depends. What did the doctor say about why they gave them to you? Are you w/ding from opiates? or do you have high blood pressure? What milligram of clonodine did the doc give you?
417564 tn?1287982827 From what Steven was told, the lady who has it is 45yrs.old with low blood pressure....why she said only 1 per night, I think normally the dose os higher....correct? I will make a call to the dr.and check out what is said. The sweats/chills are very bothersome as many of you know...this lady was given this coming off alot of morphine. Apparently it will get rid of that.....
880900 tn?1467270141 Talk to the Dr about the Clonidine. He had me on that too, but he has to check out your blood pressure. And it DID help with sleeep. Read my recent post on how I'm beating a heavy Diluadid (hydromorphone) use: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Addiction-Substance-Abuse/To-people-Quitting-Diluadid-or-any-hardcore-Opiate/show/951302 If you are in week two, you should be exercising if you can. That and Hot Epson salt baths with the Klonopin will get you sleep.
Avatar f tn Actually, a spike in blood pressure is a very common symptom of WD. Thus the reason for the foggy head/headache during the acute phase. The clonidine helped immensely and even helps with sleep.
349859 tn?1257790973 Get it from a doctor and be truthful for what you want to use it for. Get a blood pressure monitoring kit to measure the blood pressure before taking it. Also, do you have a support person? As someone else said, the medicine really made me sleepy which was actually a good thing. It would have been very bad if I would have taken it when my blood pressure was already low. A person could go to sleep and their heart would stop. This is the danger you are playing with. Get it right.
Avatar f tn Clonidine is a powerful drug///not addicting but can affect ur blood pressure drastically//should be used under a dr's care It slows the body down and helps sleep, anxiety and the runs....and should be stopped when physical wds has passed...if a person takes it longer than a couple of weeks it needs to be stopped a bit slowly//not for the same reasons other drugs do...but cos of body adjustment a person with a low BP during wd should beware of clonidine...
Avatar f tn My Dr. wants to bring in another Blood Pressure pill ( clonidine) If i spelled that right. Do any of you all take this combo?? Just wondering if all of these made your blood pressure drop too low? Thanks for input!
Avatar f tn Good to know.....thanks for your help...
Avatar n tn m not a goody=goody but it can be dangerous if the person has low blood pressure. At least take your blood pressure before using this. If it is at all low , don't take it.
Avatar m tn My father came from Vietnam and is 80 yrs old. His blood pressure fluctuates so much that his doctor would not permit him leaving town visiting his family. So, he is miserable and depressed. Would you please help? Thanks. His blood pressure fluctuates from 120/70 then 190/94 (3-4PM). So, he takes 1/2 of Clonidine HCL (0.1mg) then it drops to 58/47... eventually it comes back to 120/70 at night.
Avatar m tn It is really amazing my pain is completely almost gone, with the exception of a little soreness. I have starting weaning myself from the oxy and was going to ask my doc for some clonidine. How much does it really help with the w/d symptoms?
401095 tn?1351391770 For me, the clonodine made me really tired. I could only take it at nighe or when i was going to sleep. It will make you weak and tired, but it will help with chills and anxiety....its a good help to w.d.....
