Avatar f tn Klonidine is a blood pressure med that is used sometimes for opiate withdrawal symptoms.. usually 2mg. per day. Personally, I used it 10 years ago when stopping hydrocodone cold turkey after hip replacement surgery, and I couldn't tell that it helped much. Depending on what your son is using, there may be better options. Can u get an MD involved? He may need to be medically detoxed. My heart goes out to you. I can't imagine the pain of having a child suffer with this. Much love.
Avatar f tn I've been on a benzodiazepine based medicine to treat stomach spasms for 8 months. The manufacturer was recently changed and when I switched I started experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms. I took the drug by the new manufacturer for roughly 10 days before understanding that I was experiencing withdrawal and switching back to my original manufacturer. I'm on omeprazole as well, for GERD, which I understand can increase the amount of benzodiazepine in the blood.
Avatar m tn I'm on week 9 of sovaldi/ribavirin for GT. My co-workers are about ready to shoot me. My doc prescribed Clonidine for insomnia and anxiety but it hasn't helped the rage. Thank you, orphanedhawk, for the tips!
Avatar m tn I disagree. I have been off of Klonopin for over 2 years and am still having withdrawal effects. For some people, withdrawals can last for YEARS. See the following: https://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
Avatar n tn org/wiki/Alprazolam#Dependence_and_withdrawal Benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome—often abbreviated to benzo withdrawal—is the cluster of symptoms which appear when a person who has taken benzodiazepines long term and has developed benzodiazepine dependence stops taking benzodiazepine drug(s) or during dosage reductions.
Avatar f tn I am taking clonidine for my Subutex withdrawal. It has definetly helped with the anxious creepy crawly feeling. It also helped with hot flashes. I wasn't given any info on not to mix it with pain meds, but you may want to call you doctor to find out. Or even a pharmacist might be able to tell. good luck!
Avatar m tn Klonodine - (which is probably Clonidine) is a blood pressure medication that many doctors use to help ease withdrawal. It will help with the goosebumps and sweating and **it can also make you sleepy** Trazadone - is a very old mild antidepressant which is used frequently as an insomnia medication. **it can also make you sleepy** Lorazepam - aka Ativan is a benzodiazepine. This class of drugs - Benzos for short -are extremely addicting and very dangerous. Ativan is a pretty strong one.
Avatar m tn Are you taking it to control your blood pressure or for ADHD or for withdrawal from opiates? Is it prescribed or self-medicated? If you give us some more information we can help you through this.
10047460 tn?1407438406 Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.
290532 tn?1308136770 I tapered down to 6 and then saw a doc and got on Prestiq (anti-depressant), Clonidine for the withdrawal and Klonopin for Anxiety and she gave me Ambien CR for at night and in 3 days, I went CT yesterday. At first it really took away the WD feeling, but last night it was torture. I took the ambien, the klonopin and I took .1 mg of clonidine. and my legs were driving me absolutley insane, up all night in pain. My question is, can I take a higher dose of the .
Avatar f tn Abrupt discontinuation of benzodiazepine therapy has been reported to cause withdrawal symptoms including irritability, nervousness, and insomnia. Abdominal cramps, confusion, depression, perceptual disturbances, sweating, nausea/vomiting, paresthesias, photophobia, hyperacusis, tachycardia, and trembling also occur during benzodiazepine withdrawal, but these reactions are less frequent. Convulsions, hallucinations, delirium, and paranoia also can occur.
Avatar n tn Hey there! Why are you on Suboxone? I nonchalantly took that stuff for knee pain as RX and unfortunately paid for it later - Suboxone is a potent drug used for opiate dependence and withdrawal, and is meant to take for a short amount of time - I am not sure if it is ever RX'd for benzo withdrawals - that seems very odd to me. Please be careful with the subs, ask WHY you are on those...
13682196 tn?1431022488 Hi I was taking benzodiazepine for about five years about 1mg a day been off cold turkey for four months today ad I've been having dizziness head pressure heart populations and sometimes like shock feeling wondering if this is still withdrawal or anxiety and it's been lasting all day This discussion is related to prescribed methadone & xanax effect on driving?.
10623623 tn?1414292089 Yes. I firmly stand by the fact that hydrocodone withdrawal is much less harmfull than benzo. I was on no other medication to reduce the risk of seizure, and I did mention the amount I took in the above post. I know the doctors were angry at me for abusing the drugs, but I do think they should have worked me off of them in a safe manner.
1298677 tn?1308444251 This allows your blood vessels to relax and your heart to beat more slowly and easily) - I have .1mg Clonidine, they also come in .2mg which are a lot better for detox. Avatar n tn Does clonidine help with the pain of opiate withdrawal? How does it help, what w/d symptoms does it alleviate, and are there bad side effects or withdrawal symptoms from the clonidine itself if taken for 5 days or so? Has anyone tried it?
Avatar f tn However, if withdrawal is carried out slow enough and preferably using an equivalent dose of diazepam or chlordiazepoxide to withdraw, many benzodiazepine dependent patients find that they experience little or sometimes no withdrawal when it comes time to come off the last 0.5 mg dose of diazepam or 5 mg dose of chlordiazepoxide. Those who have withdrawn slow enough but still experience withdrawal effects typically find that their withdrawal symptoms have largely disappeared after a few months.

Avatar n tn does clonidine in combination with ultram, help the severe withdrawal from opana?
Avatar m tn He is going to put me on Clonidine 3x a day for 7 days. I also asked him to prescribe something for the diarrhea as well as the aches in pains. I am concerned that after getting off the pain meds completely I will be start experiencing the pain in my back again, but I will not want to get back on anything that strong or anything that is addictive. I am praying that I can get off these by just sticking it out with the clonidine.
