I went to see my doc and he wants me to continue taking the conidine and ativan but to reduce the clonidine to .1 for two days, then 05 for a day then stop it. He advised just to take the avtivan at night until I can fall alseep on my own. He also gave me some roxicet and told me to take 3 today, 2 tomorrow and one the next day. He claims this will help me with cravings until I get into rehab where I can get something tradition for the craving...I start rehab on Monday and it lasts 5 weeks.....
my doctor gave me clonidine to take at night with my regurlar blood pressure medicine in the am and i read up on it and it said don't take with rx pain meds so I haven't but I also noticed that it is used for w/d's so how long do you have to wait after your out of pain meds can you start taking it?
I have been on Percocet for 10yrs. I went into w/d 1mo. I can't sleep more than 4hrs. a night. How much longer will this go on? I hate this. I have chronic back pain. So I go to a criro and accropuncher-sp? But I still can't sleep. Please help!
He is going to put me on Clonidine 3x a day for 7 days. I also asked him to prescribe something for the diarrhea as well as the aches in pains. I am concerned that after getting off the pain meds completely I will be start experiencing the pain in my back again, but I will not want to get back on anything that strong or anything that is addictive. I am praying that I can get off these by just sticking it out with the clonidine.
1mg at 10am, 4 pm since i started and trazodone 100mg at night for sleep... anyone have experience with these? ive heard clonidine if you just stop taking it it can spike your blood pressure... and trazodone is addictive? i dunno.... anyway any comments would help.. i was gonna start today by reducing the trazodone in half and tomorrow cut back to just one clonidine a day for 3 more days... sound alright?
Clonidine helped me sleeeeppppppp A LOT!!!! Which is exactly what you need when going through w/ds. It is the best thing you could ask for. I'm now a full blown insomniac since off of the clonidine....although I only took it for 3 days b/c had to go back to work and I couldn't function on it...buttttt I will add it helped me get through the sweats and pain in my legs and cravings. It def was a lifesaver for me. Hope this helps.
Finally fell asleep for the first time since Thurs for about 3 hours in early a.m. on Monday, When I woke up, the back pain was terrible, but the WD had almost disappeared....only minor leg cramping...Not the all over terrible deep bone pain of wd. BUT, I don't know if this the the clonidine, or just the passage of time from Thurs to Monday morning. I think the clonidine, or a combination of both.
I took Clonidine for several days during detox. It really did make a difference in helping with my withdrawl symptoms. Helped to keep me calmer and in my skin. I also had a few tranzene that I took ( I cut them in halves ) . These two things along with the Immodium and otc pain meds were a hugh help for me.
Yes I am working on tapering off the pain meds. It is not working so well right now due my Phych. putting me on Strattera for ADHD and I had to stop it due to the fact it was cutting down on the effectiveness of the pain meds. I am almost thinking my main doctor is using it for the ween down from the meds and in place of a ADHD med till the phych. can get me on something different. My main doctor is trying to work with my phych. but has trouble getting a hold of him.
They checked my blood pressure three or more times a day -- narcotics keep your BP artificially low -- and it brought back to something near 120/80 (ideal, for most) and I think it was helpful for the aches as well.
If you're doing a home detox, perhaps a friend could get you over to a pharmacy with a free BP machine regularly? The machines aren't as accurate as your doctor's rig, but try for three tests when you go, just to see if the readings are relatively consistent.
BP too low and pulse. So thankyou for that advice...I actually feel abit stronger and Im sure sleep will follow!!! Im on my way!!!

Now that my arthrits is properly treated,i did not need them,and stopped with Clonidine,by myself..But the Clonidine is not working like it used to be,and I cannot sleep because of the night sweats.summer is coming,and it will be harder with the hot weather.No kidding,but sometimes I fell worst than when tapering opioids.Wish I had taken more time,and stopped very slow without clonidine..i have the 0.1 and 0.2 ones.They are cheap,and i can buy how many I want..but want my life and sleep back..
