Avatar n tn can topomax be used for opiate (percocet) withdrawal? I have heard that ultram is good for that but then you are addicted to the ultram. I also heard neurontin is helpful and that topomax is similar so I wondered if anyone had tried topomax for withdrawal.
Avatar f tn hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.

Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
Avatar f tn I am taking clonidine for my Subutex withdrawal. It has definetly helped with the anxious creepy crawly feeling. It also helped with hot flashes. I wasn't given any info on not to mix it with pain meds, but you may want to call you doctor to find out. Or even a pharmacist might be able to tell. good luck!
Avatar f tn Go to your doctor and see if you can get a prescription for a drug called Clonidine. Clonidine was originally developed for high blood pressure and they found it had an odd side effect. It helps people with withdrawals from alcohol and opiates. I've tried to quit 3 times prior to this and really I was only serious about 1 of them. Clonidine will cut withdrawals noticeably. It's different for every person of course. Drugs usually don't work for me favorably....
Avatar m tn Are you taking it to control your blood pressure or for ADHD or for withdrawal from opiates? Is it prescribed or self-medicated? If you give us some more information we can help you through this.
1929696 tn?1323286839 It's different for everyone. Try soaking in a hot bath with Epsom salts. It really does help - temporarily - but any relief is worth the effort. Even if you don't have the Epsom salts handy, the hot water still helps. Keep an eye on your blood pressure while taking the clonidine and don't be tempted to take more than prescribed. My husband nearly killed himself overdosing on his detox "comfort meds.
10047460 tn?1407438406 Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.
290532 tn?1308136770 I tapered down to 6 and then saw a doc and got on Prestiq (anti-depressant), Clonidine for the withdrawal and Klonopin for Anxiety and she gave me Ambien CR for at night and in 3 days, I went CT yesterday. At first it really took away the WD feeling, but last night it was torture. I took the ambien, the klonopin and I took .1 mg of clonidine. and my legs were driving me absolutley insane, up all night in pain. My question is, can I take a higher dose of the .
Avatar f tn it is hard but its doable, the clonodine will help little, i am in recovery from alcohol also, but i didnt find the opiate withdrawal any worse, (or better, ) sorry to say, make sure you drink plenty of fluids , like gatorade or juices, you might need imodium for any stomache problems or diorreah, also take hot baths and get some fresh air and walking can help, i wish you well, god bless .
Avatar n tn Does clonidine help with the pain of opiate withdrawal? How does it help, what w/d symptoms does it alleviate, and are there bad side effects or withdrawal symptoms from the clonidine itself if taken for 5 days or so? Has anyone tried it?
Avatar f tn BP too low and pulse. So thankyou for that advice...I actually feel abit stronger and Im sure sleep will follow!!! Im on my way!!! Good Luck to all...I'll check back in tommorrow!!

Avatar n tn does clonidine in combination with ultram, help the severe withdrawal from opana?
Avatar n tn I jumped off from .5MG. I would not stay on Suboxone for years because I would think the withdrawal is more difficult. Your goal is to be drug free and opiate free. Suboxone is a buffer to get your life in order first and get ready for real recovery with meetings and therapy. My experience was this. I do think I stayed on Suboxone too long which was 18 months and 12 months should be maximum. Great medication so you do not go thru the hell of heroin withdrawal.
Avatar m tn He is going to put me on Clonidine 3x a day for 7 days. I also asked him to prescribe something for the diarrhea as well as the aches in pains. I am concerned that after getting off the pain meds completely I will be start experiencing the pain in my back again, but I will not want to get back on anything that strong or anything that is addictive. I am praying that I can get off these by just sticking it out with the clonidine.
Avatar f tn Just found this group... Doc has me on clonidine .1 -- when I took this yesterday for first time, it packed a big punch, re dizziness/disorientation tho this did pass as day went on. So today thought perhaps I would cut .1 in half and take twice a day... still not much relief from my withdrawal from fr tubal, then morphine for major pain with bone issues. Is there a .01 to take? Or will taking the .1 twice a day eventually be easier on me?
526311 tn?1229286330 The librium and clonidine are to help you not feel the symptoms (or feel less of them) of w/d. They don't delay w/d if that's what you are asking. The diarrhea is a sign that your body is experiencing w/d. Be thankful the librium and clonidine are working so well. You can take immodium for the runs on top of the other two meds.
Avatar f tn t know how they discovered that this drug helps but it does.It is also used for alcohol withdrawal.
Avatar f tn I don't normally take the clonidine. It is only for withdrawal. The trazadone I take every night for sleep. So by taking the clonidine I am taking more than normal.
Avatar m tn You may have a slight increase in blood pressure during withdrawal; you may also get dehydrated, leading to an increased risk for blood clots forming in your body-- but I would say that the chance for either is low. Withdrawal certainly FEELS horrible, but it does not cause a huge amount of stress for the body-- nowhere near, for example, the withdrawal from alcohol. The primary issue is staying away from pain pills, once you have stopped.
Avatar n tn Hi. Your doctor should be able to help you. I'm not sure what a "withdrawal cocktail" is made of, but something can be put together to help.
