Avatar f tn It is a medication for high blood pressure but lots of people use it to help with opiate withdrawals, so it depends. What did the doctor say about why they gave them to you? Are you w/ding from opiates? or do you have high blood pressure? What milligram of clonodine did the doc give you?
Avatar m tn so i just got out of the ER. i had a stroke 7 years ago and my leg was getting really numb again and i thought i was having another stroke. i told the dr. about my hydro addiction and he said that the symptoms i am having are from the w/d's. he gave me some clonidine(i think thats how its spelled) to get me off the tabs and its suppose to help with the w/d. anyone with any experience with this pill?
Avatar f tn Be careful not to think more is better because you will just drop your blood pressure and end up in the ER or worse. Clonidine is a blood pressure medication but is known to ease WD in very small dosages. Ok if prescribed by your doctor. I like patch better because you will not try to take more to make you feel better, Good luck..
349859 tn?1257790973 Does clonidine really help with easing some of the yucky wd feelings??
198154 tn?1337787265 s but only a caring doctor will give it, most would rather see you suffer....i took .1 mg of clonidine 3 times daily...worked tremendously well...if taking clonidine will help get you off your d.o.c.,...take it as your doctor has prescribed it...regardless of what you think MIGHT happen...it does help more than i can describe, i think it is a miracle drug for wd's. i took it for 10 days, then tapered for 3, it is not addictive, but you have to taper to avoid rebound high BP...
794977 tn?1237256569 hey guys alot of you talk about getting clonidine....the blood pressure med...now i just moved to pa n dont have a reg doc but do have insurance....do you think that if i go to the er and i am just honest with them they will help me with some clonidine and mayve valiums or something...and how much does the clonidine help is it worth going through the trouble? thanks to all for making me feel like family i give my best wishes to all...
Avatar m tn It really works. It will not make you 100% the same as if you were taking the percs but it helps with anxiety, sleeplessness and overall feeling like crap. My doctor gave me 1.0 milligrams with a refill. She is awesome. Yesterday was my full day 2 from all addictive substances (day 9 from Vicodin) and I had some anxiety late afternoon and evening. Took a pill each time and I was fine. Slept a full 8 hours.
478811 tn?1208474960 I'm taking clonidine, with my percocet, and my mastake i took 2 clonidine, that's .2ml, and now i can't move.. I didn't know that this stuff was soooo strong.
656243 tn?1231288052 Hey eveyone. I was recently put on Clonidine to help with anxiety and I am currently on Effexor. Does anyone have any past experiences with Clonidine? Does it work? Do I have to build it up in my system? Thanks C.
Avatar m tn Now I am wanting off of these meds for good, My back pain still feels very real as I am now day 6 into my last patch and ocycodone pill. I went to the ER two nights ago because I feet so bad coming off of those drugs. What can I do. My wife is afraid I may hurt myself because I have been sleep walking, bumping in to thing and talk strange things in my sleep. The ER doc gave me a little patch of clonidine. Does it work or not. What ore my options?
Avatar n tn The clonidine does help but be careful. Use it as directed and dont use it to long. Is it for your final taper or are you using it thru out your taper? sounds like you are tapering pretty rapidly. A 50% taper is brutal. With a propper taper the wd is usually pretty minor. Looks like your taper is just prolonging the innevidable. Sounds like you are handling it well tho. I wish you luck. Keep posting your progress so we can help.
Avatar m tn My doc recently advised me that I need to get off of the roxicet and gave me some clonidine and ativan to help with the withdrawals. Will these two drugs actually help or do I need to go to a detox center?
1006065 tn?1251478669 I had Clonidine and Vistaril to help with withdrawal symptoms. I had to discontinue the Vistaril because of increased agitation and anxiety and decrease the Clonidine due to a drastic drop in my blood pressure. The lowest it got was 99/56. I took a 1/2 pill and it was not much better. I went to a 1/4 pill. I continued taking it for about 8 - 9 days. At the lowest points in my b/p, I could not sit up or hold my head up..that is why I had to go to 1/4 pill.
203003 tn?1210855907 to call in my Clonidine...Nice doctor huh?? I bet if she was going through this she would have it first hand. How frustrating. Only problems Im having now is lack of sleep..tossing and turning, Sweating, little headaches, LEG CRAMPS. Im not miserable as most people would put it, im hanging in there. My question is....Has anyone taken Clonidine and had good results?? I am so stressed and depressed.
Avatar m tn Advice on doses of medication should really not be given by those on the forum, it should really come from your doctor. I am the same age as you and I was also given clonidine during my detox - I can tell you from my own experience that the dose I was on was .2mg/day. I am not sure if the clonidine has an effect on your pulse, but it will definitely reduce the blood pressure. I would personally wait until your appointment tomorrow and ask your doctor.
Avatar m tn I used to use drugs(mainly heroin) 2 years ago but have been on the suboxone treatment since and it has been a miracle for me and my life had come back once I started the treatment. I take 8mg buprenorphine( 2X a day) and .1mg clonidine( 2X a day). Recently my doctor put me on clonidine for anxiety and high blood pressure( constantly 140/100 being calm.
Avatar f tn My 7 yro started a regimine of resperidol and regular clonidine a few months ago the resperidol is working he was changed to kapvay (long acting clonidine) a week ago he just started the morning dose of 2 resperidol n one kapvay and one resperidol n one kapvay at night he has slept 18 +hours in a 24hr period.
Avatar f tn Not sure how to work this site. I am tapering down from methadone and really need some support. It's been months and I have been doing this alone. A dr recently gave me some clonidine which helps a little but not enough. I have had awful SYMTOMS . The worse thing is the mental anguish. Sweats chills nausea shaking. I dont know how much longer my body can take this. I am 58 years old and an ER dr put me on methadone for pain but did not explain anything about it.
Avatar m tn Is it possible for me to have developed a rash from taking opana ER after years of taking it?
Avatar f tn I called pain mngt dr today and they jumped my *** for quitting and told me go to er, then er dr gave me nausea med, clonidine, and more norcos. I took the nausea med and clonidine but 6 hrs later still bad. I gave in and took a Norco, feel 90% better. So what do I do? I cant do rehab, I have 4 kids and would lose my job. My pain mngt dr said they will put me on different meds to detox but those sound bad too, and what about my pain? The pain is what started this hell.
Avatar f tn The only advice I can give about the clonidine is to only take it as prescribed, I work in the ER and I have seen many people come in from detoxing with clonidine and their blood pressure plummets!!! So please be careful! Good luck and hopefully the light is @ the end of the tunnel for both of us!!
407249 tn?1215350469 It's so crzy because I didn't realize how much damage the drugs were doing to me until I stopped. Now I know because of all this garbage going on with the W/D's. It's wild! I went to the ER because I was so distraught and I have no drug counseling coverage and my doctor decided that was the loophole I had to take because at the ER they have social workers that can help with counseling and ER personal that could help with W/D's/medical stuff.
Avatar m tn Hey all, new member long time reader... I know its a little long winded but please take the time to read. I really could use some help! After a severe wreck breaking my back I was sent to a pain management doctor in 2006. Started out with no education with opiates and other meds. Started out taking them as prescribed and them moving on the other ways for the quicker high I realized I was a full blown addict. The Dr was raising/changing my meds every several months.
10047460 tn?1407438406 Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.
Avatar f tn Thus the reason for the foggy head/headache during the acute phase. The clonidine helped immensely and even helps with sleep.
Avatar m tn It is really amazing my pain is completely almost gone, with the exception of a little soreness. I have starting weaning myself from the oxy and was going to ask my doc for some clonidine. How much does it really help with the w/d symptoms?
