Avatar f tn She was prescribed that to relax and sleep, and help with her moods, doctors think she is bipolar, according to her, it is like Xanax, calms, relaxes. Good luck.
Avatar n tn He is currently taking 20mg of Mediate, 10 mg Abilify, 10 mg Prozac and .5 of clonidine in the morning. He takes a.5 clonidine at noon and at 4:00 P.M he take .5 clonidine and 10 of Ritalin. At bedtime he takes .5 of clonidine and 10 of Abilify. Most evenings he is so tired he wants to go to bed by 7:00 or 7:30. Can this be a result of all of this medication?
585414 tn?1288941302 When I tried to stop the clonidine my pain returned. I tried to just take the clonidine and that didn’t work. Now with the low dose of oxy and clonidine I have relief from the severe pain and can live a more normal life.
Avatar f tn m not a professional but I do know that if a child with ADHD is put on some antidepressants it can make it worse if they are Bipolar. It can take up to 10 years to diagnose a bipolar disorder. I hope someone can help you. I know how hard it is to have a child that is ADHD. My grandson is.
Avatar f tn Are you currently taking any medications? What does your doctor mean by "repetitive stress"?
Avatar f tn Neurontin, Topomax, Keppra, Trileptal, Lovaza (anti-cholesterol medication used experimentally for bipolar it works like fish oil but is an FDA approved medication) and Clonidine (which I take having exhausted all other options). Those are only the ones I've tried and am familiar with. I wouldn't reccomend one over the other but speak to your psychiatrist about any of these options (or others listed on that site which is clinically accurate).
Avatar n tn Diagnosis: ADHD/ODD, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar II, Learning Disability  Separation Anxiety, Deep depression – up and down (swings), eyelash pulling and pulling out hair without anti-depressant, it took 150mg of Zoloft to finally stop the habits and put a smile on his face.  Does not feel pain like other children – can run across rock beach with no shoes and feels nothing - no pain. Loves animals can get stung by bees and does not care.
Avatar f tn I am on Clonidine which is used experimentally for bipolar and though it has a fair amount of side effects it does work. And there are more options as well. I post about the ones I know about. You need a concrete diagnosis as to what mood disorder you have and from there if you've tried known medications and need to try lesser known (but FDA approved for other purposes) mood stabilizers, I'd suggest your psychiatrist refer you to a mood disorders specialist.
Avatar n tn ) This one thing more than any other caused me to question the bipolar diagnosis. If bipolar is a chemical imbalance, as my psych-doc had explained, then talking yourself back out of a suicidal episode would be as impossible as a diabetic talking themselves out of an insulin coma. I stopped taking the meds (at the time Lithium, then Depakote) about 4 months later, after having been able to let go of the suicidal thoughts.
Avatar n tn He is now 13 and last year they stated he was not ADHD but bipolar. He is on different medications for bipolar now and seems to be doing better still having problems in school but he seems to be getting better. The two diagnosis are very close and there are web sites that give you the differences between the two. Also it may just be the emotions of the separation. But I would double check with the dr. They do make mistakes.
Avatar f tn Do you really want to quit? Do you still have pain? If you can confide in your doctor, you'll get support from him. He can prescribe Clonidine, which helps lessen the withdrawals. Read up on the Thomas recipe and get what you need. The supplements will also help the w/d symptoms. Don't worry about telling your doctor. He's heard it before. Just be honest. You'll get a lot of support here. You can do this.
585414 tn?1288941302 Its important that when people run out of standard mood stabilizers that some of the remaining choices do have potential side effects of concern, especially personality alterations. That's why some of them aren't often used. I've been through every mood stabilizer. Could detail but it would go on for pages. But after the common ones proved intolerable Keppra caused suicidal ideations. Trileptal caused an agitated mixed state.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 19 now, she lives at home with me. She is bipolar and is on meds for it. Two years ago, I put her in an inpatient rehab for six weeks, but she left and did not complete the program. She did not want to be away from home. I also tried out patient with her, to no avail. She is not ready to quit using on her own. I asked her doctor about using clonidine or depakote for the withdrawl symptoms, but he said that they would not help her at all.
Avatar f tn My son currently takes vyvanse for his adhd wich seems to be helping him alot in school, but he has been taking geodon and clonidine for about 6 weeks or so and he has become alot more aggressive once he vyvanse weres off he is totally out of control phyc says leave him on it since he gets good sleep but everything i a constant fight and he tears everything up wich he did prior to the meds but he just seems worse could he be taking the wrong mix of medicines or does it just take more time worried
585414 tn?1288941302 Its very common to have an agitated mixed state, that is where you have the speeded up affect of mania but the depressive aspect so it seems like you are angry at the world. I and most people with bipolar (or bipolar with psychotic features or schizoaffective in my case) have been through that. But have people experienced the opposite, a euphoric depression, that is you had the negativistic affect of depression but an elated feeling?
Avatar f tn I have Bipolar 2 , PTSD , Panic Disorder and have Borderline Personality Disorder . I have more depression than mania. I was on Depakote 1000 mg a day . I felt pretty good but gained so much weight , which caused me to have prediabetes .I was changed to Lamictal which caused huge allergic reactions ! I just started Trileptal 300 mg twice a day. It's causing anxiety , but I also take Ativan . I seem to have more energy .
6726276 tn?1421126668 ve a psychiatrist who has given me instructions on adjusting my BiPolar medications. I visited a Pain Clinic and received their advise. My Psycologist is keeping in touch with me by eml. I don't have Clonidine , but can order at my Pharmacy. I've tapered before, but at a faster pace. This is a slow steady taper. It's harder in some ways than a CT, but this is my only option. MedHelp is my online support group. I may have some taper buddy's this week. Thank you.
Avatar f tn m able to deal with day to day better without exploding . I take gabatentin at night with clonidine 0.2 mg I get to sleep faster and stay sleep till about 4am but getting rest and I'm told by friends that's meds for bipolar .
10047460 tn?1407438406 Wow Jeni I'm not sure. The only time I took Clonidine was for my high blood pressure. I've heard that Clonidine helps with a lot of symptoms of withdrawal including cravings. My doctor gave me Zofran 8 mg for nausea. It worked really well. Sorry I can't be of more help. Hang on for a while.
Avatar f tn Thus the reason for the foggy head/headache during the acute phase. The clonidine helped immensely and even helps with sleep.
Avatar m tn It is really amazing my pain is completely almost gone, with the exception of a little soreness. I have starting weaning myself from the oxy and was going to ask my doc for some clonidine. How much does it really help with the w/d symptoms?
Avatar m tn enybody got eny feed back clonidine it was given to me to help with withdraw from oxi and its not doing enygood going through hell right now I have about 7 days
401095 tn?1351391770 anyone use clonidine during WDs? What dose,,,just wondering..
Avatar f tn hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.
198154 tn?1337787265 s but only a caring doctor will give it, most would rather see you suffer....i took .1 mg of clonidine 3 times daily...worked tremendously well...if taking clonidine will help get you off your d.o.c.,...take it as your doctor has prescribed it...regardless of what you think MIGHT happen...it does help more than i can describe, i think it is a miracle drug for wd's. i took it for 10 days, then tapered for 3, it is not addictive, but you have to taper to avoid rebound high BP...
Avatar f tn second, my doctor prescribed two clonidine patches for me for any withdrawl symptoms. What do these do ? my doc said it woud basically knock me out...love that of course... but, i am hesitant because i had never heard of it... i know it is a little strange for a prescription lover to be afraid of a new drug...weird. but, i would like to hear about some experiences with people who have tried it before. Thank you so much.
Avatar m tn It really works. It will not make you 100% the same as if you were taking the percs but it helps with anxiety, sleeplessness and overall feeling like crap. My doctor gave me 1.0 milligrams with a refill. She is awesome. Yesterday was my full day 2 from all addictive substances (day 9 from Vicodin) and I had some anxiety late afternoon and evening. Took a pill each time and I was fine. Slept a full 8 hours.
Avatar f tn My methadone doctor suggested clonidine for these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it and I was wondering if it helps much, and is it worth even taking? Thanks for your responses...
