Common Questions and Answers about Clonidine and zoloft

catapres

Avatar f tn t get in touch with either of her doctors today. She started the clonidine last night and the zoloft 50 mg this morning. When she first started the zoloft 25 mg, they said to give it to her at night because it will make her sleepy. It ended up having the opposite effect on her so we had to switch her to taking it in the mornings. I wish we hadn't started the clonidine and the zoloft 50 mg at the same time because she is so sleepy today, I don't know which one is causing it.
Avatar f tn I was incredibly tired and dizzy after taking the vistaril about 8 p.m., and then the Clonidine and 25 mg trazadone closer to bedtime. I had some strange sensations and lay awake all night.I have been only averaging 3-5 hrs, a night for over 2 months. It's awful. I also can't stop trying to figure out a solution to this mess, so my mind races & I worry about it a lot. I don't see a good way out of this situation. Can't nap either, just can't sleep.
Avatar f tn Please note that there are several moderate drug interactions with your medications, for example, sertraline (Zoloft), pregabalin (Lyrica), clonidine, and methocarbamol (Robaxin) all can increase side effects such dizziness, drowsiness, and impaired thinking and judgment when taken together. It would be a good idea to review your medication regimen with your provider and pharmacist.
Avatar m tn I am seeing a counselor (physiologist/therapist) and a Prescriber (psychiatrist). Was (re)diagnosed with Depressive disorder and Anxiety and prescribed Generic Zoloft and Clonidine. I don't notice much - in any way. Slight side effects (Mild sedation and Stomach issues mainly) but nothing that big of a deal, if they were helping my Depression and Anxiety. I understand that zoloft can be used for both my issues. However, I feel like my Depression is a product of my Anxiety.
Avatar f tn Im not taking anything EXTRA to help with the detox. Just my regular meds which are zoloft and a xanax at bedtime.. I was scared to use the Thomas recipe because I am on zoloft and wasnt sure about the interactions! Oh yeah, I can definitely hear my heartbeat in my head... Im lying around in bed right now and pulse rate is 119 RESTING!!!! This is driving me CRAZY!!!! Enemy, what anti-inflam are you referring to??
Avatar m tn For example, I went on Lexapro once, I HATED it, got off it and back to my Zoloft, and I was fine and very relieved. A rule of thumb is that medicines that docs give out are very powerful, and once in awhile, their first choice doesn't work out, so it's perfectly okay to make a new appointment and simply talk it over with them, ask them if you can please try something different, so you can be rid of your strange sensations. Hope this helps a little bit. Let us know!
Avatar f tn I went in for a physical and am coming out with hope!! I told her everything and I mean everything!!!!!! She is placing me on a taper and zoloft at the same time!! She was an angel!!
Avatar f tn t take enough to get those. I do feel down and really miss my sense of well being. I also take Zoloft 50mg/day which I was put on during cancer tx. I have 3 young kids and don't want to be grumpy with them. When on norco. I'm a very happy mama.
Avatar f tn Has anyone any experience with Clonidine and Lassix in pregnancy? Do they cause miscarriages?
Avatar f tn My medications are suboxone 2mg four times a day, clonidine 0.1mg everynight at bedtime, zoloft 50mg every morning, tenex 1mg 3 times a day, and valium 10mg as needed for anxiety. Now to me this seems like a lot of medications to take considering I have never took any of them before. He determined I needed all this stuff after a 2 hour pshc evaluation and I am tapering suboxone.all of these meds he says are to help me through the taper and minimize withdrawels the easiest way possible.
Avatar n tn As Lulu747 I also used clonidine while tapering off opiates and just wanted off and went cold turkey over a year ago. (morphine sulfate and fentanyl patch). The clonidine did help with my w/d symptoms as well.
Avatar n tn my son takes clonidine, he has adhd and the drugs he takes to treat the adhd stop him sleeping so he takes the clonidine for that. didnt know it could be used to help with w/d's, apparently clonidine started life as a treatment for high blood pressure but now has many uses. dont know if there are w/d's from clonidine but my sons doc told us never to take him straight of it because it would cause his blood pressure to rocket.
Avatar m tn Yes the girls as well. Call asap your psychiatrist and see if he/she will put you on something else. Both Effexor and Zoloft affected me this way, but they are meds that need to be gradually decreased. You will be much better after going off. But you cannot just decide to stop them, they are extremely difficult meds to get off and you need to be under the supervision of your psychiatrist in order to change to another.
Avatar f tn Hello, yes I have been taking this combination of Vyvanse (70mg per day in the am) and Clonidine (0.2mg in the afternoon and 0.2mg at night). I highly prefer Vyvanse over adderall because I do not suffer from side effects w/Vyvanse as with the adderall. The Vyvanse is much smoother than most all other adhd drugs. I have never experienced shortness of breath while taking Vyvanse, however, I am 25 years old and 180lbs. I am also a Registered Nurse.
374251 tn?1246235657 t want to go back to same clinic and I no longer had much money for it anyway. I did research and ordered Clonidine, Atarax, and Catapres from an online pharmacy which would ship without Rx. Results weren't very positive. Clonidine didn't do much for me, Atarax helped me sleep a bit and Catapres didn't do a while lot either. I don't remember the dose I took of Clonidine but they were .15mg pills, so I prob took one twice a day.
Avatar n tn He is taking 20mg adderal xr, 25mg Zoloft and .02 Clonidine to help him sleep. He has transferred to a new school and has had serious problems at school. He is swearing at the teachers and the principle. Has been in two fights, and has had 4 suspensions. Plus numerous in house suspensions. He has also thrown away his home work and hiding and or destroys it. He has good behavior at home considering that I and his mother are going through a custody battle and she is very bitter.
Avatar f tn My son is ADHD and was having alot of trouble sleping at night and was prescribed clonidine. It had not affect on him and he continued to wake up and wander during the night. I discovered that this medication is a blood pressure medication and our pediatrician was not monitoring him while he was on this. We also have tried the melatonin and he was up to 3mg a night and it had no affect.
Avatar m tn Ive always liked to use clonidine when I was detoxing, it did help relax me and lessen some of jittery, nervous energy. Hopefully the clonidine helps ease some of the symptoms, I would also get some immodium, some short of short term sleeping aid and lots of fluids. The vitamins and amino acids can really help with getting some energy, but thats all up to you. I wish you the best of luck, you can do this!
656243 tn?1231288052 t have good health insurance and a standard physician prescribes their psychiatric medications which is not advisable. I am assuming you are seeing a psychiatrist and as for Clonidine and Effexor interacting I have not heard of that one but you should ask them to look it up. They all have a PDR and more importantly I know my psychopharmocologist has a palm pilot where he can look up any medications and see how they interact and has access to information that only a physician would.
Avatar m tn I ran out two weeks early. I was honest with my dr and he put me on clonidine 3 pills a day for 3 days and a patch. It worked I almost feel like my old self. When he refills my meds next week I'm going to not take them unless I am in extreme pain. Learned my lesson!
Avatar f tn I am already starting to get withdrawal symptoms which surprises me as this is not really a small dose. I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable. I know this is a slow and low taper, is it worth getting it?
880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn I started Clonidine three days ago for very high bp. It causes me to have bad breath and stay very thirsty.. How are you doing with it. Suppose to be on it for a month. Do you have any of this ?
349859 tn?1257790973 Thank u! I have been thru wd before but from percs and oxys. This time its subs and I've been in them for 4 and a half yrs. I'm trying to prepare myself for what's to come. I've got myself down to 1 mg and plan to go lower but I've heard horror stories when it comes to getting off subs. The worse part of wd for me is the anxiety and chills. My heart races and I get very nervous feeling. I've heard some say clonidine helps when going through wd.
