Avatar f tn Does anyone have info on Clonidine? My daughter is in Medical detox and they are giving her this during her detox. I'm just wondering if it is another addictive drug or if it is just an aid in the detoxification. I would assume they wouln't give her something addictive but you never know.
Avatar f tn Will clonidine help me with withdrawal ? I have had 5 operations on my hip and have been prescribed oxycontin and hydromorphine for over a year. I tried getting off them but can't do it as the symtoms are terrible..Will clonidine help me? My medical dr has prescribed them to me and I havent tried them yet as I need some input on them.
Avatar m tn Ive always liked to use clonidine when I was detoxing, it did help relax me and lessen some of jittery, nervous energy. Hopefully the clonidine helps ease some of the symptoms, I would also get some immodium, some short of short term sleeping aid and lots of fluids. The vitamins and amino acids can really help with getting some energy, but thats all up to you. I wish you the best of luck, you can do this!
Avatar m tn s while taking the tramadol. Before I stopped the tramadol I went to the Doctor and got Clonidine for Skin bumps hot/cold and blood pressure (.
Avatar f tn Good job! Keep cutting back and you can do this! I take Clonidine and it helps with the withdrawls somewhat, including keeping the heart rate down. It works better for some people...not the greatest for me, but helps a little. For some people it is really a godsend and helps them through. You will need to talk with your doctor, though. You'll have to be honest and tell him that your trying to scale back on your oxycontin use and that you are helping for some supporting medications.
Avatar f tn t do it completely cold turkey. Go to your doctor or a treatment center and at least ask for Clonidine, and maybe something for anxiety. Niether are opiates and will help a lot. If you really don't want to see a doctor. Check out the Thomas Reciepe listed on the bottom left of the forums page....it is a home remedy list for withdrawal symptoms. It can help as well. How much OC are you currently taking btw?
Avatar f tn but from what I understand the creepy crawlies, hot/cold flashes are peaks and valleys in your BP - mostly spikes in your pressure. Clonidine is a very old and reliable blood pressure medication. Taken short term it is supposed to help the skin bumps, hot/cold flashes by controlling your blood pressure. Its also known to make you very sleep (an added bonus I guess). Be careful no matter what though and obviously only take through your doctor.
Avatar n tn Hope you will stick around and post -- What is your drug of choice - how much and how long. There is lots of advice, help, and support here -- take advantage of it. All the best.
Avatar n tn I have been able to somewhat negotiate the mental confusion, crying spells, depression etcThe reason I got off the oxy and lyrica was because they were not helping with the chronic back pain and i was nodding off all the time.Talk about doing a 180 turn aroundin less than 4 days! The rls syndrome has to go and I do not want to take any more opiates.Something other than 3 weeks of torture must be able to help?
478811 tn?1208474960 but then it was kind of like I was fed up with having pain after having increased pain for days and days and days with the taper, and I just wanted a few hours with good pain relief. so I took a 10 mg oxycontin ~8pm and then 5mgs percocet at 11pm when the oxycontin did not do it b/c I just wanted to feel comfortable for awhile.
Avatar f tn A few medications that help me detox are clonidine and xanax. The clonidine helped me most- took away alot of the anxiety, RLS, palpitations and aches. I only took a few xanax when the depression/anxiety was really severe because I didn't want to be dependent on that too. Just keep telling yourself You Can Do This! I'm more concerned with your chest pain than anything? You need to go to the ER immediately and have it checked out.
374251 tn?1246235657 t want to go back to same clinic and I no longer had much money for it anyway. I did research and ordered Clonidine, Atarax, and Catapres from an online pharmacy which would ship without Rx. Results weren't very positive. Clonidine didn't do much for me, Atarax helped me sleep a bit and Catapres didn't do a while lot either. I don't remember the dose I took of Clonidine but they were .15mg pills, so I prob took one twice a day.
Avatar f tn 50 mg x 2 daily I know because I have done the research about narcotic bowel and how they feel that one needs to remain on an anti depressant indefinitely however i still need to get this oxycontin and sleeping pills out of my system. Due to extreme emotional abuse I do not have as many of the clonazepam as would be advised to relax the intestines but if anyone has any help please respond and Gods love and healing to all of us. This is a medical issue not a moral one.
Avatar f tn and sun. off I would not take anything on friday, go to work and feel bad on sat. and sun. and come back on monday still feeling bad but getting better, maybe. If you gotta work you gotta work. If you don't think you can do it and you plan on always being on something then I would go the sub route. I would only do the sub route if you have decided that there is no hope for you at ever getting clean. Thats just my opinion. You know how hard it is to stop subs.
Avatar n tn i was on 4mgs a day of xanax and a lot of oxycontin and heroin, they put me on 3mgs of klonopin for the xanax addicition and suboxone for the opiates, i am now over three months clean
Avatar f tn Just deal with it. Its serious effects last for 3 to 4 days. And you feel tiered and slow and slugesh for a mounth. And wont beable to sleep for a mouth. Whene its over you feel better than. You did whene you started?
439522 tn?1214951189 m into Day 2, I believe...(5pm Friday was last dose) and the clonidine definitely helps with the restless legs and jerking. Still have diaherria, even with maximum immodium. And still have hot flashes, which the clonidine is supposed to help with. I may have to up the dose a little...but don't want to get stuck on ANOTHER medication. I also took just one tramadol a little while ago to see if it would help, but that was 45 minutes ago and I don't feel any better/different.
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, I was just wondering if Norco, 10-325 is easier to withdraw from than Oxycontin 80mg. My friend was taking 2 oxycontin 80mg a day and told her doctor ( they were not prescribed) and she told the doctor that the only thing stopping her from quitting oxycontin was the horrible withdrawals. He put her on Norco and told her to wean down with those, and that going cold turkey off Norcos ( once she's weaned down to 5 a day) is easier than w/d from oxycontin.
Avatar n tn I had those for about a month and moved onto methadones, to oxycontin.. Its been about four and a half months and I am ready to be done. I am curious to see how bad withdrawal will be. I have gone days here and there without using.. Only took 40 mg methadone a day, and if I didn't have that 80mg of Oxycontin... Has anyone gone through withdrawal after this short of time?
Avatar f tn That was the 80mg... Anyways, stay on this site, everyone is so nice and positive and helpful. Look up the Thomas Recipe, or if you can get Clonidine, that helps so much.
Avatar f tn I wish I could remember where I got the milkshake info from. I am almost positive that I read it in an article. A legitimate source. Today I had 2 large frappes and one medium milkshake, one cup of hersheys kisses and some fritos and I am doing great. I have Clonidine but haven't needed it. I do take the Clonidine at night along with Doxepin (a sleeping pill). I have been thru w/d about 10 times but have never done the milkshake/choc.
Avatar m tn Anyway, the doctor already gave you very good advice about getting off the clonidine but I would talk with him/her again and get a B/P check at the same time. People who take this for treatment of withdrawal symptoms tend to just stop taking it. Others taper off a little bit before giving it up.
Avatar n tn Both my husband and I have been prescribed oxycontin for 17 years. Me for permanent spinal cord injury and my husband for severe neck and back injury. Our Dr suddenly cut us cold turkey off 40mg 2x daily. The only thing he gave us for help is clonidine. We are both in our mid and uppér 60s in age with issues. I live in remote area and there is no close detox or help nearby. I am scared to death for both of us and hoping for suggestions .
Avatar f tn How long do you normally take clonidine for withdrawal symptoms from Oxycontin and Percocet?
Avatar f tn I am about two days shy of having to start detoxing from Oxycontin and Loritab. I have been in a pain management program for 4 years. I have taken 20 mg Oxycontin three times a day and also 10 mg Loritab three times a day. I received a letter last week where they informed me they were dismissing me from the program. Well that left me with what medications I had left in my bottles to try to wean myself off of them.
Avatar m tn i am now on methadone everyday and for me a treatmetn rpogram is something i need at least for a while, hopefully i can get to the point you feel youre at and after a few months off of oxycontin and H while on sub I got to that point, but breaking my wrist started my addicitive cycle all over again. i have now successfully completed a month on the program and feel alot more productive and motivated than on sub, but dont feel high either, which is good.
Avatar f tn I have been using heroin and oxycontin for years and have been stuck in a cycle of trying to detoxing and relapsing and detoxing again and relapsing for so long and it was hell. The pain of withdrawal and shame of using was so bad and I didn;t think that it was even worth trying anymore, I never thought id be able to stop. I was about to give up but I gave it one more try and I will say for the first time ever I am now 7 months completely clean from everything and its incredible.
