clonidine and oxycodone

Well, as one could imagine over the years my doses have turned from viodic, to oxycodone to fentanyl patches and oxycodone. Now I have beeen taking 15 patches of 100 mcg of the patch and 300 5mg tabs of oxycodone because of supposed arthritis in my back.. Now I am wanting off of these meds for good, My back pain still feels very real as I am now day 6 into my last patch and ocycodone pill. I went to the ER two nights ago because I feet so bad coming off of those drugs. What can I do.

I was averaging about 150 mg oxycodone a day and about 2 months ago it was bumped up to about 300 mg a day. I finally realized that I am not going to go another day on oxy. I went to dr. Monday and he put me on suboxone, 8mg 2x day for a total of 16 mg a day. I took that mon and tues, felt ok. Today, its 6 pm and I've taken 1 8mg sub and feel good...still have some achs and restlessnes but not horrible.

ve tried almost all of them. Gabapentin is my favorite. Clonidine, Trazadone and benzos helped me sleep. Then there's Imodium and the Thomas Recipie. Those items will get you through without too much discomfort, but ..... What's you're plan to fight this long term? If you aren't determined-enough, it's all for naught.

Thank u! I have been thru wd before but from percs and oxys. This time its subs and I've been in them for 4 and a half yrs. I'm trying to prepare myself for what's to come. I've got myself down to 1 mg and plan to go lower but I've heard horror stories when it comes to getting off subs. The worse part of wd for me is the anxiety and chills. My heart races and I get very nervous feeling. I've heard some say clonidine helps when going through wd.

type symptoms go away when coming off Oxycodone. I was taking 60mg/day for about 12years and have gone down to nil over the past 15 days. I'm struggling with this and just would like to know...WHEN DOES IT STOP?? I'm on Clonidine am and pm to assist...just doesn't seem enough. I went to my PCP today about getting off the fentanyl (200 ug / 2 days) and oxycodone (120 mg twice / day for BT pain). She was very supportive -- maybe too supportive?!? She decreased my fentanyl to 175 every 2 days but left the oxy as is--she said I may need it for extra pain. She also prescribed clonidine 1-2 mg 2x day as needed at my request as well as ambien for sleep. I also asked for gabepentin to help with pain but she didn't want too many variables at one time.

See I had no problem coming off duragesic. I was on 150 patch and I tapered off completely in one month with hardly any w/d symtpoms. My doc did a slow taper od I think 25 mcg every 6 days. Also the clonidine patch made a HUGE difference in helping to wean. No jitters, it was great. Also, he gave me 20 5 mg oxycodones to help if I did feel w/d's. I seriously had no problem whatsoever. Now, I have to take Oxycodone for my disease and I'm trying to wean down and it SUCKS!!!

I'm seeing the doctor today and the pain psychologist and I hope she'll be okay with me going back on the long-acting. I feel where I get some decent relief with the 10 mg. oxycodone, the oxycontin may do the trick. I only get about an hour on the oxycodone and I don't want to go up on the dose. I think an extended release med at a low dose may help. I am very happy I went off everything. I was on so much and at such high doses and really the lower dose works about as well.

For the last 5 months or so i got hooked on about 180-200 mgs of short acting oxycodone{not Oxycontin} There is no Tylenol in it just straight Oxycodone and i have to take it every 6 hrs or i suffer withdrawals.I am tired and want to stop.These are the medications i have available to me at home. Clonidine 150 mcgs, Plenty of 10 mgs of methadose not methadone.

I just took one of those home drug tests and it is positive for benzo which I have a prescription for in the form of Lorazepam and oxy which I have not taken in months and then only a few. The opiate was negative and everything else what is up with the false positive on the oxycontin?? Help I may be getting a test this week. I am only taking sub's, prevacid, and tylenol pm. I did have a clonidine patch on for a couple of days.

Hey girl welcome and Congrats! What has happened to you is what happens to all of us. OPIATES ARE NOT GOOD SOLUTIONS FOR CHRONIC PAIN. We will always become dependent, will always need to up our dose, and many many many of us will become addicted. You've got some great detox tools. I came off of 100 mg of oxy and 40 mg of hydro cold turkey. I had all the meds you mentioned minus the pana forte and plus Clonidine. This is an AWESOME BP med commonly used in opiate detox.

Went from4-5 7.5-lortab, and 1/4 of a 30mg oxycodone a day to no lortab and a small sliver of a oxycodone every 12-to 16 hours. Any advice would be greatly appr.

Thephoenix75, i have used gabepentin and clonidine and i am currently on clonidine and it does help so I would recommend it I am NOT a doctor so talk to your pcp and see what she says... gabepentin is also good to use for wd. I have Backpain coming from a car accident that occurred 14 years ago and i am on fentanyl 100 mcg q 48 hrs and percocet 10/325 8 daily mdd and also oxymoronphone 40mg 2 daily mdd...

I hear you with that! Ask your dr about Clonidine. It's a blood pressure med that will stop the hot flashes in their tracks!

I just found out that because my doctors have given me clonidine Valium and oxycodone this has interfered with my detoxing off of the methadone . It's been 22 days off methadone and I couldn't figure out hy I keep having waves of anxiety and depression. I was just told by a person that it's because those other drugs have been interfering with my detox. Please I need help to get off all this crap I don't trust my doctors any more and don't know what to do .

How does it help, what w/d symptoms does it alleviate, and are there bad side effects or withdrawal symptoms from the clonidine itself if taken for 5 days or so? Has anyone tried it?

Hot Epson Salt baths help ease the skin crawling and skin burning/freezing and RLS. DR. Supervised Clonidine and Klonopin will help with the anxiety, RLS and sleep. Though I started withdrawal on a Saturday and Didn't see my Dr till Monday. My Aunt is a RN and supervised my Clonidine and Benzo replacement for Klonopin over the weekend. Start the B Complex with lots of water/ Gatorade/pedilite as soon as possible. This will flush the toxins out quicker. Hop on forums for support.

Day 5.....off the oxycodone. I have gotten some energy back and went to work yesterday. I am having trouble sleeping now and my blood pressure is off the charts. Is this from the withdrawal and has anyone had this problem? If so, is there any suggestions to help calm me down, (besides drugs!

I'm starting detox on Sunday when my current supply runs out. I want my life back. We're probably close in age if you're a Viet Nam Vet. I've been on Vicodin about 80mg/day for over a year. I'm not looking forward to next week but I took the week off from work to withdraw. I know it will be very rough. I did it before about 15 years ago. I'm scared but full of hope. L-tyrosine and vitamin B6 are supposed to be helpful. I'm stocking up.

I finally admitted I had a problem with Oxycodone. My usual pain management doctor is out of town but his back up put me on a weaning schedule. She has me weaning every three days to one pill less. How bad are the withdrawls going to be? Or will I not even notice? Last night I had an hard time sleeping but during the day I am fine.

I was doing 45 mg. oxycodone every 3 to 4 hours plus lorazapam plus ibuprofen and cymbalta and clonidine. THen they changed to oxycontin 40 mg. 3 times a day plus the others (minus the 45 mg. oxycodone.) I have the option of taking 5, 10, 15, or 30 mg. of oxycodone for breakthrough pain. I thought I was breaking the 30 mg. oxycodone (as I'm out of the 15 mg.) for pain. This can get very confusing. Thanks for your help.

I am 25 years old. I was prescribed 10mg of Oxycodone every 4hrs at age 15 and stopped cold turkey 6-23-2016 I am just a little over a week in. The bad stuff is obviously over. My health is improving and there is no longer a need in my life for those things. My body is 100% healthy. Just had some back issues. So my question is will the PAWS be a bad for me as it is for many people I see on here. I can't find much info on here regarding my low dose. I never once abused the drug.

you def can feel the difference between 15 and 10 mgs. oxycodone is VERY STRONG MEDICINE, we just get to where we pop them like pez so we forget lol.... I have a new-found respect for these meds b/c I am tapering, and have come down (so far) from 120mgs/day to now ~90mgs/day and counting....:) I also have committed to only taking 1 percocet for bt pain instead of two, and you know what? I feel like I am getting MORE sensitive to the medication -- REALLY WEIRD!! (but I'm glad!).

You may have already heard this a bunch of times.. but warm baths really do help with the chills... if you are able for the first few days take time off from your daily responsibilities and soak in a nice warm/hot bath on and off... when you get out just dry off and put cozy pj's on and get right into a cozy bed or get nice and comfy on your couch... this does help with those horrible chills... best of luck to you...
