Avatar n tn Hi and Welcome! clonidine will help ease the withdrawal but I would be weary of the ultram,,,ultram is also very addictive. how much opana are you coming off of? Are you taking it for pain or recreationally?
1818670 tn?1324702522 Hi - I have taken Clonidine for opiate withdrawal and have taken it on and off for depression. It is a blood pressure medication. It has helped alot with opiate withdrawal. What drug did you used to take? I don't know if Clonidine is a huge help for anxiety. Usually Klonipin is prescribed but that can be addictive. Also .1 milligram is low. I take .3 mg but only at night. I break it in half if I take during the day. It can make you sleepy. Hope that helps.
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
Avatar f tn Has anyone used prednisone to lessen methadone or other opiate withdrawal symptoms?
Avatar f tn I guess my question is, how has everyone used clonidine in withdrawal and is it a bad idea to be taking it with the percocet? It certainly is making me feel worse and is making me feel the withdrawal symptoms almost and Im wasting the percocet since it is having no effect. I am just really scared and dont know where to turn. I am unemployed and need to be looking for a job and with how awful I am feeling physically I just dont know where to turn.
Avatar f tn Klonopin is the brand name for a drug with the generic name clonazepam, and is a benzodiazepine that has actions similar to diazepam (Valium), alprazolam (Xanax), and lorazepam (Ativan). Clonazepam and other benzos are sometimes given to people to help tolerate withdrawal, but they are addictive as well, and so some people would recommend avoiding them.
Avatar n tn Does clonidine help with the pain of opiate withdrawal? How does it help, what w/d symptoms does it alleviate, and are there bad side effects or withdrawal symptoms from the clonidine itself if taken for 5 days or so? Has anyone tried it?
Avatar m tn I did break down and decided to contact my doctor today. He is going to put me on Clonidine 3x a day for 7 days. I also asked him to prescribe something for the diarrhea as well as the aches in pains. I am concerned that after getting off the pain meds completely I will be start experiencing the pain in my back again, but I will not want to get back on anything that strong or anything that is addictive. I am praying that I can get off these by just sticking it out with the clonidine.

320944 tn?1245966599 At the dose you were on, it could have been AWFUL to withdrawal from without some clonidine. I had that too, and it really helps. BP going up during tram WD happens almost every time. Congrats on your clean time! Get into some therapy or meetings so you never have to do this again!
Avatar m tn s just not going to happen unless you go to a methadone clinic or spend a fortune getting prescribed to suboxone and either way your still just getting yourself hooked on another opiate, and delaying the inevitable.....WITHDRAWALING. It's the only way to get over what you want to get over. Your body HAS TO get rid of everything you've done to it, and in your case it honestly can't be that bad.
Avatar f tn Clonidine, while having opiate-like effects in reversing several aspects of opiate withdrawal, is not an opiate and is therefore not subject to the burdensome regulatory CONTROLS that have been placed on the use of opioids. Clonidine has its most demonstrable effects on autonomic elements of opioid withdrawal: sweating, gastrointestinal complaints (cramps, diarrhea, nausea), and elevated blood pressure.
Avatar n tn Hi. She needs to do this NOW before the addiction gets any worse. I was up to around 30 or more of those 10mg a day and right now I'm in rehab. You need to get her Clonidine for the withdrawl symptoms. Thats what they give you in rehab. Its only a blood pressure medication but has be found to also relieve symptoms of opiate WD's. I'm telling you I tried to detox from the pain pills at home MANY times and failed every time. The WD's are HORRIBLE.
Avatar m tn I've been on 0.5 for 6 mths. then when i went in this mth i asked to get on the .025..It's 3 times a day,But i feel that's still alot.....How do I taper off??Could you please give some advice??!!! I never want to go threw that withdraw like that EVER again!!!!! Please help!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn re already taking high blood pressure meds, you need to ask him about that and perhaps you can switch to Clonidine to get the benefit from the high blood pressure meds and help with the w/d's. I would say that the Clonidine cut at least 50% of my w/d's if not more. It will almost completely get rid of sweats, chills, even bone and joint pain that you feel with opiates.
1128565 tn?1316721143 It is an alpha adrenal blocker, so for opiate withdrawal, it helps ease the symptoms of withdrawal and the feeling of jumping out of your skin. As for withdrawal from an antidrepressant, I am not sure how it would work, but it is prescribed for withdrawal. It can also make you sleepy as part of the side effects, so that is what you are feeling there.
Avatar f tn I have been taking pain meds for almost 10 due to a doctor puncturing my intestine during a lapscope resulting in 2 major surgeries each year to remove portions of my intestines. I had 2 staph infections which reslted in major surgeries, not to mention chronic migraines and endometriosis. All of this happened just because a doctor did not want to open me up to fix the hole he put in my intestines when he put the lap in. Instead he let me go home and develope peritionitis.
Avatar m tn My brother is in day two of detox from percs and T1's. He is in a lot of pain.....is this normal. He has underlying back pain which is being treated but seems twice as ba now. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn I know a few of my withdrawal periods I would stay inside the house and watch TV and try and sleep but it never came. Try wearing yourself out during the day whether it be work, exercise, or anything else that will for one get your mind off the pain, and secondly, will help some with sleep as you will be really tired from whatever you do. Once you get past the physical part of withdrawals, working on the mental part is a must.
Avatar n tn I did a 6 week taper from 16MG per day with Clonidine and Serquel and the withdrawals were mild. I jumped off from .5MG. I would not stay on Suboxone for years because I would think the withdrawal is more difficult. Your goal is to be drug free and opiate free. Suboxone is a buffer to get your life in order first and get ready for real recovery with meetings and therapy. My experience was this. I do think I stayed on Suboxone too long which was 18 months and 12 months should be maximum.
Avatar f tn Today, I was curious about how long does it take to detox and didnt see any comments about Clonidine. If anyone can get your hands on it, it is a life-saver during the withdrawal period. Last time I only took it a few days. a week tops. I would pop one every now and then if I felt jittery. It is not a controlled substance and there is NO risk for addicton to this medication (Clonidine). I am suprised it is not more widely discussed or known about.
Avatar f tn He will be stopping the drug to keep his job, but is concerned about withdrawal. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice will be helpful! We are very concerned for his health and well being.
7857462 tn?1394795639 I want to have pain pump removed at my doctor's suggestion, I have been on this pump for nine years, she wants to put saline in it on next refill date in 3 weeks but I am terrified of going through withdrawal and my pain issues have yet to be fixed so I know I'll still be in a lot of pain as she has been slowly reducing the amount of dilaudid now and I have mobility pain and really bad leg pain at night.
Avatar n tn it helps alot with the symphatic nervous system problems opiate withdrawal presents. it helps with the sweating, hot/cold flashes, blood pressure fluctuations, and insomnia.
Avatar m tn m currently withdrawalinf from methadone which is a different opiate. I had anxiety in the first few days of withdrawal and I have extreme exhaustion and just walking up a flight of steps or walking around can give me shortness of breath. Normally those things wouldn't give me shortness of breath. My family doctor prescribed me clonidine to help withdrawal symptoms and it has eliminated my anxiety along with a ton of other symptoms.
