198154 tn?1337787265 Clonidine worked great for me. Doc gave me .1mgs about 3 weeks worth. taken twice a day. No side effects for me being that I am 6'3" 225lbs. It takes alittle more for us Big Boys.
Avatar f tn Be careful not to think more is better because you will just drop your blood pressure and end up in the ER or worse. Clonidine is a blood pressure medication but is known to ease WD in very small dosages. Ok if prescribed by your doctor. I like patch better because you will not try to take more to make you feel better, Good luck..
Avatar f tn Currently am on Procardia 60 mg XL Bid, Triamterene 100 mg daily, Clonidine 0.2 mg tid, Valturna 300/320 mg daily. I am 5, 6 and weigh 126. And yes for the last 6 months I have taken the medication, done what lab has been ordered, x-rays etc. But my blood pressure swings up and down. I can go from 150/110 to 220/134. My distolic never goes down lower then 110. I still (best way to describe it) is I get waken up by headaches about 1-3 in the morning.
Avatar m tn Hopefully your doc checked your pressure before prescribing it to you.....u can go to the drugstore and check it....I would think as a rule blood pressure would go up during WDs unless u become dehydrated or something but everyone is different....call your doc and let hime know your pressure and let him decide...
Avatar f tn i told him i already have low blood pressure and he still gave it to me and didn,t even check my blood pressur ....
417564 tn?1287982827 From what Steven was told, the lady who has it is 45yrs.old with low blood pressure....why she said only 1 per night, I think normally the dose os higher....correct? I will make a call to the dr.and check out what is said. The sweats/chills are very bothersome as many of you know...this lady was given this coming off alot of morphine. Apparently it will get rid of that.....
Avatar n tn My cardiologist wants my blood pressure as low as possible without side effects. Lower blood pressure reduces the workload of the heart and provides time for the heart to completely recover from the operation. If you experience dizziness, fainting, etc., your doctor may want to adjust the medication, but if you can tolerate your current blood presssure the better it is for your heart.
Avatar f tn Clonidine is a powerful drug///not addicting but can affect ur blood pressure drastically//should be used under a dr's care It slows the body down and helps sleep, anxiety and the runs....and should be stopped when physical wds has passed...if a person takes it longer than a couple of weeks it needs to be stopped a bit slowly//not for the same reasons other drugs do...but cos of body adjustment a person with a low BP during wd should beware of clonidine...
Avatar f tn My Dr. wants to bring in another Blood Pressure pill ( clonidine) If i spelled that right. Do any of you all take this combo?? Just wondering if all of these made your blood pressure drop too low? Thanks for input!
Avatar m tn I couldn't have done it without the clonidine. .1mg twice per day (right when you get up and right when you go to bed). It keeps your heart rate down, blood pressure down, and prevents most of the stomach cramps and I didn't have ANY RLS at all. It also causes constipation, which helps with the diaherria. Tried to quit twice before without it and couldn't do it. I would taper down as low as you can and start the clonidine as part of the taper...
1926359 tn?1331588139 anyone ever get super dizzy and have all the blood rush to your ears when standing up while detoxing? Am on day three (good times) and taking clonidine. I was worried it was because my blood pressure was too low but I checked it and it's fine. It's freaking me out a bit-just want to know if anyone else has experienced it.
880900 tn?1467270141 Talk to the Dr about the Clonidine. He had me on that too, but he has to check out your blood pressure. And it DID help with sleeep. Read my recent post on how I'm beating a heavy Diluadid (hydromorphone) use: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Addiction-Substance-Abuse/To-people-Quitting-Diluadid-or-any-hardcore-Opiate/show/951302 If you are in week two, you should be exercising if you can. That and Hot Epson salt baths with the Klonopin will get you sleep.
Avatar f tn Im not sure who said it but. I think the reason I was so weak up to this point was the clodine...BP too low and pulse. So thankyou for that advice...I actually feel abit stronger and Im sure sleep will follow!!! Im on my way!!! Good Luck to all...I'll check back in tommorrow!!
Avatar f tn Why dont they ditch the ace inhibitors and beta blockers, and put you onto calcium channel blockers. These will lower blood pressure, by resticting the amount of calcium that the artery muscles can absorb, and act as a heart relaxant. 200+ is too high and sustained levels as high as this are likely to start causing long term problems. I assume kidney tests have shown they are functioning correctly?
349859 tn?1257790973 Get it from a doctor and be truthful for what you want to use it for. Get a blood pressure monitoring kit to measure the blood pressure before taking it. Also, do you have a support person? As someone else said, the medicine really made me sleepy which was actually a good thing. It would have been very bad if I would have taken it when my blood pressure was already low. A person could go to sleep and their heart would stop. This is the danger you are playing with. Get it right.
Avatar f tn 1 mg pill and feel nothing yet but mind you, i also am used to taking VAST doses of valium and xanax. my blood pressure is normally very low, but i'm also a benzo addict, so is this stuff gonna work to help me sleep when 5 xanax didn't? will it work at all? i don't wanna take too much and have my bp go down to 40/20. is there anyone trying to get off subutex after heroin (snorted not iv) for whom clonidine has helped without serious bp issues?
Avatar f tn I always had low blood pressure until the rapid detox and that seemed to take care of low blood pressure. It seemed to take the edge off and my heart was racing and it stopped that. I wouldn't start on any med like that without a doctor and for the life of me I cannot remember why the clonidine is the blood pressure med to use. ( My brain is still not working well.) You do need to monitor you blood pressure if you are taking it. Talk with your doc.
473384 tn?1210206242 Hi, i read your advice on taking clonidine for withdrawals. I have 1 mg. clonidine and am going thru withdrawals. How many should i take thru the day and night? I do not have low blood pressure. Also, i am on morphine 30 mg. and hydrocodone 10mg. I take 3x's a day.
Avatar f tn clonidine is originally for high blood pressure, and since the high bp causes a lot of the withdrawal symptoms (racing heart, sweats, etc) the Clonidine is suppose to lower your bp and help with these symptoms. It is possible your bp is dropping too low. Do you have a blood pressure cuff and have you talked to your doctor? You can go to a walgreens/walmart and have blood pressure taken as well.
1909286 tn?1379435137 You are a brave girl and you are doing this! I had low blood pressure as well, and my doc prescribed clonidine and it REALLY helped with my w/d. Do you have a BP machine at home? I picked one up at the pharmacy for 30$ and monitored my pressure. I am more than a little concerned that your doc said you wouldn't have w/d from methadone. Listen-this is your life and you deserve good medical support. Please seek another doctor. We want you to be as safe and comfortable as possible.
Avatar m tn I have heard of clonodine being taken with suboxone when someone has been tapering and are down to a low dose. But since clonodine drops your blood pressure you really need to be monitored by a doctor while taking it. I was prescribed clonodine in the past for withdrawals and my doctor had me come in twice a week to get my blood pressure checked. It may also be helpful to call a pharmacist. Don't trust information from strangers on the net when it comes to your health.
Avatar f tn I took it quite often and I monitored my BP at home because I naturally have low blood pressure. I took it for 2-3 weeks, I can't remember. I'll take it again when I taper after detox. Chevy is right though- gotta change that addict behaviour. Get it from your doc, not from a friend. 3 won't do anything anyhow (: Hope you are resting easy...
1124967 tn?1283705847 .1mg is usually the standard dose given to those in opiate wd's with directions to be taken anywhere from 1 to 3 times daily. It varies by doctor. Clonidine can be great for some, and really take the edge off, and for others does nothing. Unfortunatelly its just one of those meds. Your friend needs to follow the dosing prescribed by her doctor, and if its not effective she needs to call the doc. Clonidine is a blood pressure medication that just happens to assist in wd's for some.
Avatar f tn I am already starting to get withdrawal symptoms which surprises me as this is not really a small dose. I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable. I know this is a slow and low taper, is it worth getting it?
441267 tn?1211687001 To reach max blood pressure benifits clonidine takes 14 -20 days to work so unless you have a native blood pressure that is very low you should have no issues using it for a short period of time.
Avatar n tn t want to stop Clonidine cold turkey because it can cause you blood pressure to go through the roof...I ran out of it once and missed 2 doses and ended up in the e.r with a blood pressure of 250/150 so be careful coming off of it. Good luck, You can do this. Make sure to take care of yourself.
Avatar f tn The clonidine helps from the aspect it lowers one's blood pressure reliving some of the wd stress on one's system during your sleep hours..You will not notice much of a difference using it but it does help..Do not take more than directed though. It is not a sleeping pill. If you take too much (more than directed), it could drop your Blood pressure too low causing a stroke..I had a stern warning from the doctor about this...
Avatar f tn so it helps the runs, sleep, anxiety etc. If u have a low blood pressure as a rule, it is not a bad idea to check it if u can after u take it, specially if u feel dizzy or light headed upon standing. If possible, I would take the first dose at a time i didnt have to work..before bed...
