Avatar f tn 025mg in the am and lunch and 0.050mg at dinner and bedtime, it took a few months to find the right combination, I still get the chest pounding and bp still rises at times more than other times but overal is better.
Avatar m tn My cardiologist has put me on Lopressor twice a day to reduce my heart rate and blood pressure and tells me to do aerobic exercise everyday for 45 minutes. Given the polar opposite effects of these two requirements, and given the fact that the effects of Lopressor wear down during each 12 hour period, when is the optimum time to exercise to maximize the benefits and at the same time respect the intent of the Lopressor?
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed lopressor 25mg 1 pill daily i have been on it for 6 days and my bp is 128/78 just like it was before doctor put me on the pill the reason doctor gave for wanting me to take it was my bp was 144/90 i told her i had been working in the fields im a farmers handyman it was very hot that day she took my bp with in 30 minutes of me getting off work and said i have high blood pressure anyone who works in the heat is gona have some bp increase so my Question is can i just stop
Avatar m tn If it were me -- and I'm just talking as a patient, not as an expert -- I would want to get off the Lopressor. Lopressor depresses heart rate, and it's obviously not controlling your blood pressure, so I personally would not see any reason for taking it. I was on Lopressor for blood pressure control for several years and was in the same situation as yourself -- my heart rate was too low, and my blood pressure was still too high. But why are you on the nitro patch?
Avatar m tn I take atenolol 25 mg for fast heart rate and while in ER, they gave me 50 mg Lopressor (which I believe is metoprolol), one time dose of Lopressor. About a day or two later, I woke up in middle of night with elevated blood pressure and somewhat tachycardia. The blood pressure was higher than what I was used to and I attributed it to not receiving any more Lopressor. It took me about 5 days to not feel affect of Lopressor, and I only took one dose. BP hit 158/100, high for me.
Avatar m tn The other night I was given 50 mg Lopressor, plavix, and lovenox, as I thought and the hospital thought I was having a cardiac event. I already take 25 mg atenolol. I wasn't having event, but non-specific chest pain. That was Monday night. Now I wake up with my heart racing and blood pressure rising. I also wake up exhausted. I think this is from coming off of the Lopressor. I called my MD and they said just go back to regular dose of atenolol.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone has controlled blood pressure on medications, but wacky pulse rates? I was recently in the hospital for SOB/CP and high pulse rate. I had a Thallium Stress Test, which showed a first degree blockage, and Echocardiogram, which showed a thinning aorta wall and many EKG's showing a rapid pulse rate. They were running 110-145 in the hospital and then I was given Lopressor and it did bring the pulse down to the 80's.
Avatar n tn Then in November, my arrthymia worsen. So after about 6 weeks of playing with my Lopressor dosage, my doctor cut the lopressor and put me on Cardizem which is a calcium channel blocker like verapamil. My heart rate became much worse...very rapid like around 120-140....after 3 days of this, I begged to get back on Lopressor so we did and it's back to how it was ...no better no worse....my rate goes from 50 to 100...much more tolerable. I will be seeing an EP in March....
Avatar m tn ve monitored my pulse rate and blood pressure on 25mg of lopressor/day and it seems ok. Should I stay on 25mg/day? Ps I had my surgery in the US but I live in Africa.
Avatar f tn Finally they put me on Clonidine 0.1 mg 3 times a day and carvadilol at 12.5 mg 2 times a day. They were so puzzled by my positional tachycardia(fast heart rate) of 120-150 and my blood pressure getting as high at 222/138. All I was doing is getting up to walk around. Finally with this combination of meds everything is under control for now. I feel dizzy and tired from the meds but anything is better then being on a constant adrenaline rush!
Avatar f tn I have had HTN on and off for 15 yrs. 01/10 bp was 184/120 and heart rate was 160 bpm. Put on Lopressor, and is under control. Currently bp is good, heart rate is still a little high at 120, but blood work revealed Hyperthyroidism. Not taking any meds for that yet. Not on any other meds at this time, have been weaned off Lopressor also over last 2 weeks. For the last year or so, I have 3 toes that are itermittently cyanotic, blue colored, even when not cold.
Avatar f tn I had an A-fib ablation which appeared to be successful but I had recurrent a fib a few months after the treatment. My cardiologist placed me on lopressor and flecanide for a while I then began breaking through after attempting to decreases the lopressor. I followed back up with my cardiologist and I am awaiting the equipment installation for cryo ablation, which I am told has a higher success rate. How often does a 30 year old healthy female have such problems.
Avatar f tn Recently I have had two episodes where my heart has raced and I become nervous (like with that shakey feeling before you vomit). I has occurred 2 times and lasted several hours each time. I could tell when it started and stopped. My doctor called it PAT and told me to do the valsava manuever and if they don't work then to take lopressor. He did an EKG in the office and that is it.
Avatar n tn The doctor had me come in for a free follow up after a few days on the Lopressor and he listened again with the stethescope and then he had me jog in place again...he said once again that he could hear the murmer and turbulence only when he had me raise my heart rate. He said for me to take it easy, take the medicine and let him know what I find out about insurance so he can set me up for the x-rays and echo cardiogram at the hospital.
Avatar f tn My bp soon came down to 90/70s. I was told to stop Norvasc and then Lopressor. I watched for a rebound but my bp and pulse were within a normal range for a few weeks without them. I continued to check my bp about every day. One day a relative said something very cruel to me at the exact moment I was taking my bp. My diastolic was 110, but systolic and pulse were normal. My diastolic wouldn't come down so I took Clonidine (as my dr had prescribed for an emergency.
1045086 tn?1332126422 quick weight gain, leg swelling can be due to the heart not pumping effectively and blood backs up in the system and fluids leak into tissues. I was told after my discharge from the hospital for heart failure to weigh myself every morning and if there is an increase of weight to notify my doctor.
390388 tn?1279636213 Your right as usual. So I'm taking the stupid Lopressor. Sorry. Just frustrated. Tomorrow I have alot of hoeing to do starting in the early daylight hours in which it will probably be back up to 165/112 while working even with the stupid Lopressor. Not taking it I guess would be stupid and ignorant on my part. It's just so upsetting with my BP going down because just in Jan. I was showing a mobitz ll second degree block and had some major heart issues for several months.
Avatar n tn Is your pulse that low off meds? I personally think thats too low. Do you have any symptoms? Like lightheaded or dizzy, cold feet and hands? I would talk to your doctor about this and before taking Lopressor because that will make your pulse and bp go even lower. I never could stay on BB & CCB my pulse & BP would be way too low and I couldn't breath and I was so cold and pale. I had more pvc's and pac's when i was on the bb's.
Avatar f tn Has anyone any experience with Clonidine and Lassix in pregnancy? Do they cause miscarriages?
Avatar n tn t take plavix in the morning and in the evening take lopressor 50mg and lipitor 80mg. I had been at least 4 hours since i took these two medication lopressor and lipitor. Is it ok to take zantac 150mg for heart burn .
402646 tn?1202521402 it came back that my heart was running a little high and he put me on Lopressor 50mg once a day...My ? is this...has anyone taken this before and if so...did it make your PVC's worse... Hope to hear from someone soon...
Avatar n tn As Lulu747 I also used clonidine while tapering off opiates and just wanted off and went cold turkey over a year ago. (morphine sulfate and fentanyl patch). The clonidine did help with my w/d symptoms as well.
Avatar f tn I was having LOTS of palps, and the dr felt that the Atenolol just wasnt working so much for me anymore. I started just this past Friday ( 07/24). I know the brochure I got with it, says it can take time to get into my system. But...one thing when I was on the Atenolol...my heartrate very very rarely EVER went out of the 60s. Even when I was active. Oh, sure, if I climbed stairs it would rise up, sometimes near 120 tops, but it fell right away too.
Avatar n tn my son takes clonidine, he has adhd and the drugs he takes to treat the adhd stop him sleeping so he takes the clonidine for that. didnt know it could be used to help with w/d's, apparently clonidine started life as a treatment for high blood pressure but now has many uses. dont know if there are w/d's from clonidine but my sons doc told us never to take him straight of it because it would cause his blood pressure to rocket.
Avatar f tn After my heart attack and surgery I was put on lopressor and amiodarone for heart irregularities. Because of the bad side effects of amiodarone I was taken off of that and also my beta blocker got changed. My beta blocker was changed to metoprolol tartate ..25mg twice a day. It didn't take long before I noticed that I was having pvc's again (hadn't had while on lopressor and amiodarone) and it has progressed to where it is noticeable every day ......all day long.
Avatar f tn Hello, yes I have been taking this combination of Vyvanse (70mg per day in the am) and Clonidine (0.2mg in the afternoon and 0.2mg at night). I highly prefer Vyvanse over adderall because I do not suffer from side effects w/Vyvanse as with the adderall. The Vyvanse is much smoother than most all other adhd drugs. I have never experienced shortness of breath while taking Vyvanse, however, I am 25 years old and 180lbs. I am also a Registered Nurse.
