catapres

Avatar f tn Give it 2-3 weeks becaue his tolerance needs to build up first. The Clonidine will also help with the shortness of breath and Insomnia. I also take an amino acid supplement, L-THEANINE, which helps balance out some of the overstimulation that Vyvanse and other stimulants (caffeine) can cause and it helps with ADHD on its own as well. It can be bought OTC at GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe.
Avatar f tn I too would recommend trying the Clonidine. As others have said, it is an anti-hypertensive medication that does help to relieve w/d symptoms quite successfully. It will not take them away completely, but it will minimize some of the symptoms, by reducing the sympathetic nervous system response, such as tachycardia and high BP. It's not a habit-forming drug, and really, the biggest consideration is some hypotension (low BP).
880900 tn?1467270141 WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn the withdrawals are starting to kick in with jerks and tears without crying and insomnia. i took half of a .1 mg pill and feel nothing yet but mind you, i also am used to taking VAST doses of valium and xanax. my blood pressure is normally very low, but i'm also a benzo addict, so is this stuff gonna work to help me sleep when 5 xanax didn't? will it work at all? i don't wanna take too much and have my bp go down to 40/20.
Avatar f tn Clonodine is actually a blood pressure med that helps during withdrawals because of the elevated heart rate associated with withdrawals. It does seem to help other symptoms also such as hot/cold flashes, insomnia, creepy crawlies, and just overall makes you feel a bit better. Do be careful because since it is a blood pressure medication it can potentially cause some problems. More than likely you will be fine taking them but if you notice you feel faint or dizzy get to the doctor.
401095 tn?1351391770 it was a big problem..my need for sleep and trying to work...how many of you had the insomnia and did anyone have the sleep syndrome like i did? i was a daytime user tho, never after 5 pm as they kept me up/the hydros/so i did not use them for sleep and relaxation..
774059 tn?1235681948 response, which is over-activated during opioid withdrawal. However, clonidine does nothing to reduce drug craving, and is mostly ineffective when used alone.
Avatar m tn My doctor tried all the drugs you see on TV and in the end I am taking 10mg oxy 3 times a day and .1mg of clonidine 4 times a day. I have tried going a day only taking one of the drugs but only get relief by taking both. While still being on oxy is not the best I did reduce my intake. I was on 30mg oxy 4 to 5 times a day at my highest dose.
198154 tn?1337787265 Clonodine is a blood pressure medication that helps immensely with leg cramps and those hot/cold flashes, it will also help with the anxiety and some other w/d symptoms like insomnia. Just make sure you watch your blood pressure is all I'm asking. Be safe. You will only need it during the acute w/d phase....the first 2-4 days in most cases. Also, if you get 0.1 mg tablets, I would recommend that you only take 1/2 at a time.
Avatar m tn it really helps with the hot/cold flashes, the temp. and BP spikes, and the restlessness and insomnia as well, it is truly one of the most important detox meds for opiates.it would be nice to have all BP meds aid wd's, but sadly clonidine uniquely is the only one..
915211 tn?1243899281 ve been taking clonidine to help sleep and stuff, and then also got some Valium, but sometimes I think it just makes me more moody. But the clonidine hasn't been helping me sleep through the night. Its the lack of sleep that is bothering me the most. Last night I took a lot of clonidine, a melatonin, and benadryl and still woke up after a few hours. Not sure what else to try.
Avatar n tn Thank you for responding. I am falling apart right now. I came home for lunch because I can't stop crying. I feel like such a loser.
Avatar f tn I finally managed to quit the opioids, and clonidine helped so much. But now I need to taper it,so it does not spike my blood pressure, and avoid the sweating that I get when I forget a dose.I'm taking 800 mg a day,200 mg /6hrs. Thanks for any help!!
Avatar f tn Today we both decided to go to our separate doctors and spill the beans. I went to my pcp and told him everything. He prescribed me methadone and clonidine. I want to quit cold turkey. I went to walgreens and purchased a sleep aide. Can anyone tell me how long this will last? I took my last vicodin yesterday at 12 p.m.. I started taking lexapro on Monday and the side effects of the lexapro scared me enough to not take any of the vicodin yesterday. Please help. I am in the alone.
Avatar f tn My doc says Effexor and Clonidine will help flashes. I do not want to take Effexor, and Clonidine may lower my blood pressure too much since I am already on two blood pressure meds. I will try the Evista and if get flashes again, I may just stop. I read magnesium helps, so I tried. It did help quite a bit, but unfortunately, if you take enough, you get diarrhea. Some choice. So if anyone knows of other alternatives for flashes, please post.
1808884 tn?1324345703 Are you talking about anxiety from w/drawal? A low dose of Seroquil will help, or some Clonidine, not Klonopin. Both are very sedating. Those are the only two that worked for w/drawal insomnia for me. If it's caused from an actual anxiety disorder, there are quite a few meds out there, but all work differently for different people. I take Xanax for horrible anxiety, (GAD, social phobia and panic disorder). 2mg's before bed will slow down my thinking but not put me to sleep.
Avatar m tn But this does not happen during the day time... its weird! Anyway Im on day 14 now without any subs and the insomnia is just unreal! Im actually pissed of that my doctor never warned me about this, never tried to taper me plus he kicked me out of program for missing an appointment. I had a month supply when i got his certified letter, so I instantly starting to taper.
6815927 tn?1395511425 Thephoenix75, i have used gabepentin and clonidine and i am currently on clonidine and it does help so I would recommend it I am NOT a doctor so talk to your pcp and see what she says... gabepentin is also good to use for wd. I have Backpain coming from a car accident that occurred 14 years ago and i am on fentanyl 100 mcg q 48 hrs and percocet 10/325 8 daily mdd and also oxymoronphone 40mg 2 daily mdd...
Avatar m tn I'm on week 9 of sovaldi/ribavirin for GT. My co-workers are about ready to shoot me. My doc prescribed Clonidine for insomnia and anxiety but it hasn't helped the rage. Thank you, orphanedhawk, for the tips!
Avatar f tn You should not keep thinking about sleeplessness, as this in turn promotes insomnia and it becomes a vicious cycle. You should stop becoming anxious and try to relax. Don’t watch TV or do exercise before sleeping. Condition yourself that you can relax and that you can sleep well. Please stop worrying that would be the first step to sleeping well. Humans are born with basic needs and the body responds to that. Just adopt the normal rhythm and the natural flow.
Avatar m tn Why are you taking them? How are you getting them ? Sadly there really isn't a miracle drug that will eliminate your withdrawl symptoms. Have you looked up the thomas recipe? That seems to help. Flushing the system with water, and as much as it's dreaded.....exercise DOES help. I know I've heard that clonidine helps a bit for some people as well but you have to be careful with that one. Im sure more help is coming soon.
Avatar f tn the clonidine helps a lot with the sweats, chills, and blood pressure fluctuations, the benzos are extremely helpful in stopping the insane anxiety, insomnia, muscle cramping and spasms, and restlessness. then i would get OTC immodium and an anti-diarrhea, and a OTC anti-nausea medicine. i also had some ambien for sleep as well. my detox was done in a hospital supervised but you can do it on your own if you think you can handle that.
Avatar m tn it works in very small doses and helps with the insomnia you have as well. I used it during my hospital detox for my oxy and heroin addiction which was huge. they gave me .1 mgs of clonidine every five hours, .5 mgs of lorazepam every half an hour(def. not enough), ambien 10 mgs for sleep, and an injection i dont remember for the nausea and vomiting I experienced. the clonidine def. helped but it was still terrible.
Avatar m tn I decided it was time to get off this crap, even though otc meds do nothing for my back pain and sciatica and I hurt a lot each day now. My doc gave me 120 Clonidine .01mg (too be take every 6 hours) and then 30 Temazepam 15mg. The Temazepam is gone b/c I used it to sleep as much as possible day 2 & 3 and would take 2 each time. So, I know screwed the pooch w/ that one.
