Clonidine and hydrocodone

Common Questions and Answers about Clonidine and hydrocodone

catapres

you have virtually no w/d's. you will have fatigue and dry mouth but that's pretty much it. between that and multi-vitamins and amino's, i faired pretty good on it...
All of the ingredients in the recipe can be found at the store with the exception of a benzodiazepine like xanax or valium which are to be used very short term as the recipe defines as these are extremely dangerous to withdrawal from and cannot be stopped cold turkey without risk of stroke, seizures, acute delirium, convulsions, and can be fatal. Also clonidine is more and more popular to use in opiate detox and is not a benzodiazepine so it can be used longer.
I have not been doing all that great, somewhat better but still not clean. My question is, how long does Hydrocodone and Oxycotin show up on a blood and/or urine drug screen? Need the real deal on this, looks like I might get hit this week and I need to prepare if i can.
Unfortunately I live with an enabler who would rather help me score than deal with my withdrawals. I don't want to CT. I have done it before and I am a wuss too. And I have never done it from a dose this high before. I am so afraid! I am not working so I have time on my hands. I am alone a lot. The more I read about the Sub stuff the less I like that idea. I guess I will have to taper. In my area there are no rehabs and everyone knows your business fast. Sorry to whine.

I had broken it and the Dr. mis read the exrays and had to have it re-broken and a plate put in. I was given hydrocodone and neurontin. Two months ago I broke my foot. The Emergency room Dr. asked me if I needed pain pills. I told him what I was taking, he said to double up on the hydrocone. Two days later I went in for gallbladder removal. Everything went well. I was still taking the hydorocone and neurontin. On my next appt.
It’s good to come clean with your doc concerning your desire to get off. Ask him to prescribe clonidine, (not klonopin), and ativan. These will help with sleep, RLS and anxiety. These are best to try before formal detox and drugs like Suboxone. I had to do formal detox because I tried everything else, including alcohol to get off and nothing worked for me. Keep in mind that when you try… make it a good one! Have some time off of work if you can… maybe a four day weekend or more.
I asked this on another site, but apparently it was ancient [2003]. What role does Clonidine play in treating withdrawals? I've never heard of it being used for this, and I'm curious. It just seems that usually the meds used to treat Hydrocodone withdrawals are just as "addictive" as the one you're trying to withdraw from, so how would a blood pressure med work? One person did answer [thank you], but it doesn't really tell me the "function" of the med in treating withdrawals.
I am about 15 days into going off of nearly a year of taking some cough syrup with hydrocodone in it. I'm still feeling tired and weepy. Do I really need this clonidine stuff? COUldit he hurting more than helping. I want my old energetic self back. Some people say take it easy, others to keep busy. I just want to crawl in bed with a book and wait until I feel better. DOes it work that way or do I need to keep pushing myself to be able to get my energy back.
When I wanted to detox for good I really didn't want to go back to same clinic and I no longer had much money for it anyway. I did research and ordered Clonidine, Atarax, and Catapres from an online pharmacy which would ship without Rx. Results weren't very positive. Clonidine didn't do much for me, Atarax helped me sleep a bit and Catapres didn't do a while lot either. I don't remember the dose I took of Clonidine but they were .15mg pills, so I prob took one twice a day.
I get tired of listening to doctors and some people. Well, this works! This is my third time getting off pain meds due to hving a broken neck and just tired of taking these pills. I have been on them for 6 years....Hydrocodone 6-7 per day 10/325 Hi, find my article on page 2 or 3 called "sleeping with Clonidine" it will help you sleep. You need a doc for them but they worked for me throughout this whole process.
i just took my last hydrocodone about 7 hrs ago and im already having withdrawls, is there anything i can do to try to control them? please let me know.
I was up to around 30 or more of those 10mg a day and right now I'm in rehab. You need to get her Clonidine for the withdrawl symptoms. Thats what they give you in rehab. Its only a blood pressure medication but has be found to also relieve symptoms of opiate WD's. I'm telling you I tried to detox from the pain pills at home MANY times and failed every time. The WD's are HORRIBLE. But the clonidine I was givin here helped me by 80%. You should have her go to a Dr.
When withdrawl is in full effect a patient/abuser can rarely expect more than 4-5 hours of uninterupted sleep. When I wake, I quickly take the two other clonidine tablets and wait to fall back to sleep. In addition my doctor has me using the Anti-depressent/Sleep medication Trazadone. Using this method one can expect to get 6-8 hours of sleep or more.
I've been taking Hydrocodone for about a year now. I take 30 mg. daily daily but I usually take the 30 mg. between 6:00 P.M and 10:P.M. daily. I would like to stop taking them. I feel horrible on them. Very, very tired. I am just wondering, if I stop taking them will I have bad side effects? Do the side effects last forever?
But for right now, to deal with your withdrawal symptoms, see if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep, Clonidine helps with the creepy-crawly feeling and helps stabilize the blood pressure. All of these medications will make your life easier during this time.
I have taken hydrocodone (lortab) on and off thru my entire pregnancy, usually 1-3, 5mg a day. They were prescribed to me for my headaches, but I probably take them more than i should. I am currently 26 wks, and i am down to my last prescription of them. i am not going to request a refill this time. i just really need some advice and some support as i stop this medicine in the coming week.
I have used clonidine and a few other recommended drugs to help......and as Angel mentioned, she has come up with some natural remedies. We are both happy to help you. You can private message either or both of us to help you with your recovery. Big hug....
They are very addictive and harder to kick than opiates (trust me- 3 years and ALMOST at the end of a taper) Your doctor should really prescribe you Clonidine. It is a BP med commonly used in opiate detox. Your heart rate accelerates during detox and causes a lot of very uncomfortable symptoms. This drug cuts them in half. Because of your heart issues you would need to be monitored closely. Stay close to this forum. We will support you and help you out with any questions you may have.
Along with knowing your charts, They can prescribe Clonidine for blood pressure spikes and sleep problems. I also told my Doctor about my addiction to Hydro. I had to cut off my supply. I never want to go through WD again. If I have it, I'll use it, and not for pain... Keep posting. This is a wonderful support group on this site who really helped me through to the other side. I wish you the best.
I don't know anything about clonidine either, why don't you try breaking your pills in half and space them evenly throughout the day? And confused is right about the ibuprofen ( motrin) it's safe to take with the tylenol in the hydros. Hope this helps you.
but have my life back As far as advice...xanex and clonidine...the first 2 days where the worst...actually the last 2 days of tapering was the worst then the next 2 sucked but i never got that 4 days of hell..i slept a lot...and felt like every time i passed out and woke up i felt 5% better, 3 days later i take motrin for the sweats 3 times a day...thats a must and clonidine for the chills...get in the sun....walk if you can...just push urself as much as you can mentally...
If you use it plan on getting off in under 2 weeks --- if you don't you are probably going to suffer horribly -- My opinion is that there is NO way to avoid W/D's - you may lessen them but they will show up ---- I would have been so much better off if I had just tapered on the Oxycodone and Hydrocodone and quit that way --- Sub was a huge mistake for me. All the best.
I have been taking hydrocodone for about 4 years now. And have been increasing the dosage on my own during this time. Since I admit I have a problem.( I am also an alcoholic ) What can I expect if Igo quit cold turkey ?? Another words: Can I go through this alone ?
Two months ago my mother in law had emergency surgery and was in the hospital for a month. She was on morphine and then on Hydrocodone. She came home and we are constantly going back and forth to the er. On our last vist she was out of pain meds and told me to take her to the er as she was having chest pains and shortness of breath. The dr. sent her home Friday night. We got her script filled at 11:30 pm of Hydrocodone 10/500 she had 30 pills. Monday morning she only had 2 left.
I have a 4 and a 2 yr old and have feared cold turkey from Hydrocodone 10/325 4-7 per day. It rules my life and I quit once after 2 years because I ran out of pills. I started back up after 2 wks of being clean and now I am stopping again due to no more pills. It has been 30 hours and I am feeling crapy. You need to stop, it is enevitable that you will take higher doses as your body builds a tolerance.
There is some good news and some bad....The good news is your addiction has not spiralled out of control yet and your detox will not be that bad.....With that being said, your detox is going to be miserable but only for a few days....It sounds like you have been tapering off slowly and that is excellent. You will need to continue lowering your dose until your script is gone.....I defintely would tell your doctor....
I'm very happy that you are going to get the recommended items and start tomorrow. Come here as much as you can and read and post, it really really helps! Nothing can take away the w/d but the things mentioned in the recipe and by others can be lifesavers for some. I also had xanax and took them during w/d with no problem, they helped me. If you already take them with no problem, it worked for me, just be careful that you do NOT up the dose at all.
I showed him my plan to step-down off the hydrocodone by decreasing by small increments every three days and he was very impressed with my plan. They I sheepishly smiled and said, "IF I can stick to it." I've got to find a place to put my hydrocodone where I won't be so tempted by it!!! I need to give these other medications a chance to help me get through the cravings and withdrawals.
If you're taking a half milligram at a time of clonidine, then it's no wonder you're getting sleepy. That's a pretty high dose at once. Try and get off the Ambien ASAP. It can be worse to detox from than opiates.
