Avatar n tn Hi. She needs to do this NOW before the addiction gets any worse. I was up to around 30 or more of those 10mg a day and right now I'm in rehab. You need to get her Clonidine for the withdrawl symptoms. Thats what they give you in rehab. Its only a blood pressure medication but has be found to also relieve symptoms of opiate WD's. I'm telling you I tried to detox from the pain pills at home MANY times and failed every time. The WD's are HORRIBLE.
Avatar n tn I have tapered down to 10 mgs of hydro from 120 mg a day. I was on it for about 2 years every day. Can i take both valium and clonidine at the same time to help with my withdrawal symptoms. The last time I went through this my body was so extremely uncomfortable. I had to keep clinching my muscles every time i started to relax and didnt sleep for 4 days. It ultimately let to a failed clod turkey attempt. Thanks so much everybody and i really hope i can get through it this time......
473384 tn?1210206242 Hi, i read your advice on taking clonidine for withdrawals. I have 1 mg. clonidine and am going thru withdrawals. How many should i take thru the day and night? I do not have low blood pressure. Also, i am on morphine 30 mg. and hydrocodone 10mg. I take 3x's a day.
1162610 tn?1262829016 I showed him my plan to step-down off the hydrocodone by decreasing by small increments every three days and he was very impressed with my plan. They I sheepishly smiled and said, "IF I can stick to it." I've got to find a place to put my hydrocodone where I won't be so tempted by it!!! I need to give these other medications a chance to help me get through the cravings and withdrawals.
Avatar f tn The goal of a medication is to reduce your pain enough so that you can function more and do more for yourself, and friends and family. If the hydrocodone left you suffering in pain most of the time and unable to do things, the fentanyl should definitely be much stronger and should help you have a more normal life. On the flip side, you don't want to be so drugged that you don't do anything either.
Avatar f tn I've been taking 20 to 30 mgs ( 3- 10-325's) for two months now. I'm going to quit, but I can't miss work with all the bad side effects. I've been listening quietly to all the remedies, any advice? And what's this stuff Clonidine? I tried to quit a week ago but caved in after two days, with most of the symptoms everyone else talks about. Never thought I'd let myself get in this situation, I actually have a prescription, but I don't want to take 'em anymore.
Avatar f tn The clonidine helps more than anything and that's an appropriate dose. Do you still have Hydrocodone available to you? You need to get rid of it if you do. What do you plan to do differently this time?
203003 tn?1210855907 My question is....Has anyone taken Clonidine and had good results?? I am so stressed and depressed. I was supposed to start a new job in the ER at a hospital around where I live and I had to post pon that to get myself better. Any anwsers for me? anything I can do to give myself a boost?? Any feedback is appreciated. Love you all,.
374251 tn?1246235657 t want to go back to same clinic and I no longer had much money for it anyway. I did research and ordered Clonidine, Atarax, and Catapres from an online pharmacy which would ship without Rx. Results weren't very positive. Clonidine didn't do much for me, Atarax helped me sleep a bit and Catapres didn't do a while lot either. I don't remember the dose I took of Clonidine but they were .15mg pills, so I prob took one twice a day.
1363471 tn?1305399927 ve never posted on here before but I will give you a little history before I ask my questions. My wife and I are addicted to Norco, Hydrocodone, Lortab, Vicodin (all the same) and "Love" them. We get 90 Norco 10/325's and 120 Blue 10/500 Hydrocodones a month and both prescriptions together last no longer than 5-7 days at most. My normal dose is 2 10's at a time and my wife takes 4 10's a day and we dose many times a day. We love them... As bad as that is to say.
1476343 tn?1287416235 I was taking the clonidine for a short spell too. I've had an issue with a ringing type symptom in my ears but it was here before taking any clonidine. I "think" this ringing is a side effect of long term use of hydrocodone and oxycodone based meds..For 4 years now I've questioned my doctors about this yet have never really figured out a cause. All I can say is I never had this ring problem prior to my back surgery in 2005.
1162610 tn?1262829016 The Tramadol is to help with the pain associated with the withdrawal because I'm trying to cut down/out the hydrocodone. The Clonidine is to help with the cravings and it does help! It knocks me out though and all I wanna do is sleep. Weird. That stuff is supposed to be a high blood pressure medicine. How do people take it and stay awake when they need it for blood pressure I wonder!
Avatar m tn Put me on Butrans 10 MCG and Clonidine .1 for withdraw. I have been on hydrocodone for about 3 years on and off. Last year pain a lot worse and used more often. My problem is I really liked the hydrocodone as I felt great and finally had energy and felt like I had a normal life. Anyone know what kind of withdraw I will be going threw, how long? Will butrans help with pain? Will Clonidine help with withdraw? Going cold turkey started patch last night and still have pain after epideral?
Avatar m tn I have taken hydrocodone (lortab) on and off thru my entire pregnancy, usually 1-3, 5mg a day. They were prescribed to me for my headaches, but I probably take them more than i should. I am currently 26 wks, and i am down to my last prescription of them. i am not going to request a refill this time. i just really need some advice and some support as i stop this medicine in the coming week.
Avatar m tn I went 22 days with no sleep and did finally get the clonidine and it did help my anxiety just a bit. One of my meds was a benzo so that was one big reason my Anxiety and Sleep was on the moon. If it was just the Methadone alone, I think it would of not been so long & intense. The clonidine helped my Heart from pumping so hard plus it did relax me a bit, but I could only take it at night and got a few wink. It just took a lot of time for my sleep to return.
Avatar f tn Klonidine is a blood pressure med that is used sometimes for opiate withdrawal symptoms.. usually 2mg. per day. Personally, I used it 10 years ago when stopping hydrocodone cold turkey after hip replacement surgery, and I couldn't tell that it helped much. Depending on what your son is using, there may be better options. Can u get an MD involved? He may need to be medically detoxed. My heart goes out to you. I can't imagine the pain of having a child suffer with this. Much love.
1762497 tn?1313272219 My doctor had me on a very specific and aggressive dosing schedule and it worked very well when I went off of hydrocodone. Additionally, I was instructed to check my blood pressure several times a day to make sure it did not drop too low. Good luck to you.
Avatar m tn I went to ER AND THE PRESCIBED ME SOME ATIVAN, tHE HEART RATE IS STILL HIGH, Have an appointment today. I am currently on 10 day hydrocodone withdrawl. Any insight out there. would love some input.
Avatar n tn I am no pro at this by any means but I had a Vicodin habit that was a little worse than yours some years ago. These forums appear to be a hit or miss on replies so I will just throw my 2 cents in. I recently stopped taking oxy and I only used Clonidine. It wasn't easy but the Clonidine was very helpful for the aches and sweats. Especially helpful with that little feeling you get that makes your skin crawl when WDing.
Avatar f tn the sub/bupe would not be my first choice unless u r a very heavy user and even then not sure i would....clonidine will help and so with sumpin for sleep and anxiety..exercise and the thomas recipe..a plan helps to quit..a written taper with a QUIT day or just CT...
439522 tn?1214951189 I told him I wanted to back down to just the hydrocodone. So, he gave me clonidine and tramadol to help and I haven't had any oxycontin for three to four weeks at least. So know I kind of feel like I've stretched out the hydro thing...given my self time to get off the oxycontin, and now I need to quit the hydro. Friday at 5pm was the last dose.
Avatar f tn I have used clonidine and a few other recommended drugs to help......and as Angel mentioned, she has come up with some natural remedies. We are both happy to help you. You can private message either or both of us to help you with your recovery. Big hug....
Avatar f tn Thank you for replying so quickly. I stink at tapering. If I have it I will take it. I have been at this dose for several months now. Unfortunately I live with an enabler who would rather help me score than deal with my withdrawals. I don't want to CT. I have done it before and I am a wuss too. And I have never done it from a dose this high before. I am so afraid! I am not working so I have time on my hands. I am alone a lot.
900459 tn?1304993259 i started taking hydrocodone about 7-8 months ago do to lower back pain caused from a broken femur that happend about 8 years ago my doc put me on hydrocodone 10-325 and prescribed me 3 a day and i never though anything about it until i got my refil friday and someone at the job i was on went in my truck and stole the whole bottle now that i dont have any meds i feel horrible i sweat all day i feel like my legs are cramped up really bad and i can hardly get any sleep at night.
Avatar n tn You're not having a "pity party"...just hang in there and I'm sure you've heard this a million times and probably said this a million times, but it's part of the WD process; some days will be good, some not so good... If you can't have lunch with your friend, how about going for a walk alone with your Ipod or doing something outdoors? It will do wonders... Congrats on day 13! tomorrow will be 2 weeks for you! SMILE!
Avatar f tn But for right now, to deal with your withdrawal symptoms, see if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep, Clonidine helps with the creepy-crawly feeling and helps stabilize the blood pressure. All of these medications will make your life easier during this time.
Avatar f tn I have anxiety and panic attacks a day sometimes just need someone to talk to and get a little encouragement from someone. Thanks for listening who ever you are. Being uunder my so called doctor care will the withdrawal symptoms be as bad?
Avatar f tn I'm just about at 120 days off hydrocodone. I still get blinding headaches though. They feel like tension or stress headaches. I have no history of headaches like this. Did anyone else go through this during recovery? It's hard to tell if this is a side affect from pills or something completely unrelated?
