clonidine and gabapentin

Trying to taper off and get off opiates, morphine and oxy. can clonidine be taken at the same time to help with not having as much of the opiates? and help with the withdrawls?

I think that it helped me with the RLS and a little with sleep. I had that and clonidine (BP med) and couldn't have gone cold turkey from tramadol without them! Good luck!

It helps RLS during WDs I think. I took it once, and it did seem to help it a little. Clonidine, a BP med, helps a lot too. Both have to be given by a doctor, and you have to be careful with both meds. Clonidine can lower the BP too much!

I was taking 3 10/325norco a day for my severe ibs and fibromialgia and my doctor took me off cold turkey tomorrow and gave me depakote and clonidine for withdrawal symptoms! Im so scared! The Norco does help. .. I wish someone would give me any advice! I also suffering from ptsd. ..

ve tried almost all of them. Gabapentin is my favorite. Clonidine, Trazadone and benzos helped me sleep. Then there's Imodium and the Thomas Recipie. Those items will get you through without too much discomfort, but ..... What's you're plan to fight this long term? If you aren't determined-enough, it's all for naught.

I plan on lowering my dose of vicodene tomorrow and start taking the gabapentin. Doctor said it was safe to take both. Any advice and all suggetions would be much appreciated. I know I have to get off the vics but the w/d's scare the h*** out of me. Good Luck to all fighting this fight.

Take around 240 mg of roxycodone per day,is it ok to use gabapentin n clonidine while tapering to help with withdrawal

5/325 every four hours it was becoming a problem and not releaving my pain so doctor switched me to 800 mg gabapentin 3 times a day I asked him about withdrawals from the hydros and he said I would have none just take the gabapentin well I took only half this morning and became really dizzy and sleepy so laid down four hours later took 200 mg still dizzy and spacy is this normal or is it part of the withdrawl fro the hydro?

I finally told my doc I was sick of taking they are ruining my life. He gave me clonidine and gabapentin. Both have worked great so far.

I had a nerve test and MRI test and all came back normal and no nerve damage. Is that could be related to herpes? I had a very pain on my left testicle before and was very sensetive and painful to touch it with pain in the side like lymph nodes with legs pain like burning and like tingle or vibration onthe head of my penis. So when I stop them they will come back? My doctor said the opposite and that it works like clonidine.

If Clonidine and gabapentin help, then try that. The Thomas recipe has a lot of good suggestions for supplements that help with the w/d symptoms.

m scared as hell right now and my anxiety is through the roof. I am also prescribed Clonidine and Gabapentin which I have heard help with withdrawal. Will be attending N/A meetings once the worse is over. This will be a sh**** Christmas but it is probably the best gift I could give myself (and family), I have also taken the next week off so hopefully I am through the worse by the 30th. I will keep posting for sure.

Hi Bub, When I stopped taking hydros, the gabapentin helped alot. It took the edge off of the anxiety, and helped with sleep as well, which is difficult to come by when you're going through detox. hi all -- on day 9 of no methadone... i feel like the im getting tolerence to the Clonidine was prescribed. supposed to help with detox sweats, anxiety, shakes, etc. & REALLY it has, but today it seems like the regular dose (3 x day) isn't working. i don't wanna f/u my blood pressure or anything so still taking reg dose but just *****. any suggestions? i heard of this other drug Gabapentin (kaboy told me about), anybody have experience with it?

gabapentin or lyrica(pregabalin) are prescription meds that act on the GABA neurotransmitters that benzos also work on and can ease the wds quite a bit, lyrica is a predesessor of gabapentin and is about 50% stronger..you can also look into hydroxyzine, soma, and baclofen...all three are muscle relaxants,anxiolytics, and will help significantly in the wd process..

My doc prescribed me Clonidine (an old blood pressure med), and it usually helps I suffer from chronic pain and took Gabapentin out of desperation, as well, and things calmed down, Keep going, we can do this! .

let me have about 16 Gabapentin to try. That was awesome!! I took 4 a day, and I did not once even think about Percocet (well, for at least 2 days). Plus, I felt better than any pain pill ever did. I was energetic, friendly...almost flirty! LOL But 4 days was not enough, I guess. I went right back to Percs. Do you think my Doc would prescribe Gabapentin to me for withdrawal reasons? Oh, as for what I would normally take. I usually get 10mg Oxycodone Hydrochloride/650mg Acetaminophen.

I have been taking anywhere between 50-75 mg of percocet per day for the last 5 years. My Dr prescribes me 5mg 6 times per day, however, he gives month supply at one time and I run out after about 2 weeks, and have to wait another 2 weeks for the refill. I really want to get off them, but I am scared that I will be in pain. I am tired of being dependent on them. I am currently out and have to wait until 3/28 to get a refill.

They switched me to the gabapentin and it did the same thing. My sister in law takes lyrica and swears by it so it all depends on the person. But I read where it's worse than herion to get off.

Yes I'm familiar, and they are very strong! This won't be fun no matter how you do it. I understand your dilemma. Here's what I would do. Go to the doctor, and tell them what you've got going on and that you're trying to get off of some meds that you're on. They can give you some comfort meds that you won't get addicted to. Clonidine works well. Gabapentin works really well too. Honestly, I've done it with just clonidine and gabapentin.

I'm quitting Oxy's on Saturday. I've been on around 160mg a day and recently up to 200mg. I'm going to the doctors today regarding a breathing problem I've been having and am planning on asking if they can prescribe something to help the withdrawals. I read in the Thomas Recipe that Valium's or something like that would help with the anxiety and I also read that Clonidine would help with the sweats.

I currently bang 12-15 4's per day( Dilauidid) and I am on Gabapentin 300mg 4 times per day. I pick up my script once a week and I always run out 2-3 days before hand. I find that Gabapentin helps with the restless lesgs, sleep ect. My question is, what can you tell me about Gabapentin? What is it used for? I heard that when it first came out it was used for Opiate withdrawl. Is this true? Thank you for your responses.

Such as gabapentin, clonidine, and trazadone for sleep. Is this a good idea? Would this help the process be more comfortable? Just trying to come up with my personal recovery plan for dealing with WD. Thanks!

My doctor prescribed Gabapentin for my nerve damage but i read a post on here by a "Brian" a member and he said he was taking up to 25 hydrocodones a day and Gabapentin helped with the withdrawals TREMENDOUSLY?? Has ANYONE else ever been prescribed GABA for withdrawals?? I am out of my meds (10/325 Percocets) and do not get my refill till the end of this month...I will continue taking these as my doctor prescribed and PRAY TO God That it will get me thru my withdrawals...
