Avatar f tn I too would recommend trying the Clonidine. As others have said, it is an anti-hypertensive medication that does help to relieve w/d symptoms quite successfully. It will not take them away completely, but it will minimize some of the symptoms, by reducing the sympathetic nervous system response, such as tachycardia and high BP. It's not a habit-forming drug, and really, the biggest consideration is some hypotension (low BP).
Avatar n tn just dont drink any alcohol with it it takes away the strenght of the clonidine no more than 900 mcg daily for detox of opiates and methadome and for the alcohol and the benzos. hope this helps feel free to ask! if you dont ask you dont find out right!
Avatar m tn anyone have any info on using Clonidine .1 mg for opiate withdrawal systems? Suppose to be a high blood pressure medication, but says it can be used for withdrawal systems too? wondering if it really works?
10047460 tn?1407438406 I'm going on a trip and I won't have my methadone for 3 days. My doc gave me Clonidine to stop the nausea. Will that work?
1818670 tn?1324702522 Hi - I have taken Clonidine for opiate withdrawal and have taken it on and off for depression. It is a blood pressure medication. It has helped alot with opiate withdrawal. What drug did you used to take? I don't know if Clonidine is a huge help for anxiety. Usually Klonipin is prescribed but that can be addictive. Also .1 milligram is low. I take .3 mg but only at night. I break it in half if I take during the day. It can make you sleepy. Hope that helps.
Avatar f tn Im not sure who said it but. I think the reason I was so weak up to this point was the clodine...BP too low and pulse. So thankyou for that advice...I actually feel abit stronger and Im sure sleep will follow!!! Im on my way!!! Good Luck to all...I'll check back in tommorrow!!
Avatar f tn the withdrawals are starting to kick in with jerks and tears without crying and insomnia. i took half of a .1 mg pill and feel nothing yet but mind you, i also am used to taking VAST doses of valium and xanax. my blood pressure is normally very low, but i'm also a benzo addict, so is this stuff gonna work to help me sleep when 5 xanax didn't? will it work at all? i don't wanna take too much and have my bp go down to 40/20.
Avatar n tn I did a 6 week taper from 16MG per day with Clonidine and Serquel and the withdrawals were mild. I jumped off from .5MG. I would not stay on Suboxone for years because I would think the withdrawal is more difficult. Your goal is to be drug free and opiate free. Suboxone is a buffer to get your life in order first and get ready for real recovery with meetings and therapy. My experience was this. I do think I stayed on Suboxone too long which was 18 months and 12 months should be maximum.
Avatar n tn Hi and Welcome! clonidine will help ease the withdrawal but I would be weary of the ultram,,,ultram is also very addictive. how much opana are you coming off of? Are you taking it for pain or recreationally?
Avatar f tn clonidine is originally for high blood pressure, and since the high bp causes a lot of the withdrawal symptoms (racing heart, sweats, etc) the Clonidine is suppose to lower your bp and help with these symptoms. It is possible your bp is dropping too low. Do you have a blood pressure cuff and have you talked to your doctor? You can go to a walgreens/walmart and have blood pressure taken as well.
526311 tn?1229286330 The librium and clonidine are to help you not feel the symptoms (or feel less of them) of w/d. They don't delay w/d if that's what you are asking. The diarrhea is a sign that your body is experiencing w/d. Be thankful the librium and clonidine are working so well. You can take immodium for the runs on top of the other two meds.
Avatar f tn Today we both decided to go to our separate doctors and spill the beans. I went to my pcp and told him everything. He prescribed me methadone and clonidine. I want to quit cold turkey. I went to walgreens and purchased a sleep aide. Can anyone tell me how long this will last? I took my last vicodin yesterday at 12 p.m.. I started taking lexapro on Monday and the side effects of the lexapro scared me enough to not take any of the vicodin yesterday. Please help. I am in the alone.
Avatar f tn Kind oF want to know what to expect outside of the normal opiate withdrawal... I have trazadone and clonidine along with lots of immodium and benydrill... I also have some melatonin and l tyrosine suppliments...
Avatar n tn Eating healthy, balanced meals, taking walks, daily aerobic exercise, meditation, and positive thinking are also quite useful, Avoid alcohol and caffeine if possible. Herbal teas containing camomile and valerian can calm your nervous system. Finally, 12-step programs can help people through the difficult first few months, and keep their minds attuned to staying off the medication, if that is your desire.
Avatar f tn I am already starting to get withdrawal symptoms which surprises me as this is not really a small dose. I am going hot and cold and getting hot flashes and really nauseous. My methadone doctor told me that clonidine will help these symptoms, I know some of you have tried it. I was wondering if I should start taking it, I am so uncomfortable. I know this is a slow and low taper, is it worth getting it?
Avatar f tn it has showed positive results for insomnia, ADHD, opiate/alcohol/nicotine withdrawal, cold sweats, and many other similar types of afflictions...so I would say it's worth a shot (start at 0.1 mg) to see how you react to it as it is a fairly harmless medication and its potential for positive effects is high. There is not currently many comprehensive studies about most of these treatments, so it's really sort of a trial and error process.
Avatar f tn Klonopin is the brand name for a drug with the generic name clonazepam, and is a benzodiazepine that has actions similar to diazepam (Valium), alprazolam (Xanax), and lorazepam (Ativan). Clonazepam and other benzos are sometimes given to people to help tolerate withdrawal, but they are addictive as well, and so some people would recommend avoiding them.
Avatar f tn Not sure how to work this site. I am tapering down from methadone and really need some support. It's been months and I have been doing this alone. A dr recently gave me some clonidine which helps a little but not enough. I have had awful SYMTOMS . The worse thing is the mental anguish. Sweats chills nausea shaking. I dont know how much longer my body can take this. I am 58 years old and an ER dr put me on methadone for pain but did not explain anything about it.
Avatar m tn The doctor told me to continue on the clonidine and we would taper down on that once I was on a stable dose of suboxone. He said there are no harmful interactions between the two. But whenever I take the clonidine it feels like it is kicking me into withdrawal again. severe agitation anxiety racing heart dizziness and double vision. Whats going on please?
Avatar f tn A dr increased my Clonidine which helped a little and I have an appointment with someone in chemical dependency on Thursday. I hope this time they will help me get off this stuff. My regular dr admitted he did not know how or what to do to help but would not get out of the way for the detox dr to help. He was concerned with pain and wants to get be hooked on oxicodone then taper off that. I think that is just crazy .
Avatar f tn Do a search-- clonidine is the classic med, but imodium will treat the GI stuff and there are a few other things that have been written many, many times before.
