Avatar n tn Hi..did doc suspect C-Diff? If so, let him know right away you've stopped the Flagyl. Stool tests will confirm, and clindamycin is the top "offending antibiotic" for causing C-Diff, which is treated with Flagyl or Vancomycin. The numbness could be a side effect from the Flagyl - nasty med but it is what you need to be taking if in fact C Diff is the culprit. Best of luck to you.
Avatar f tn Ladies, tell me the truth is it me or its just this stupid ksjahqbskcidow bacterial vaginosis?!?!? Ugh I've had since I found out I'm pregnant! July I took flagyl for two days was allergic to it so they gave me clindesse vaginal cream for my baby! Then august found out I still have it and they have me take this clindanycin HCl tablet. Then august 27th, ugh I still have it!! They're making me take the same ****. Sorry im just a lil bit disappointed nor upset. Yup its clindamycin HCl again for seven days twice a day!
Avatar f tn I started taking antibiotics July ...I tried flagyl for two days but I was allergic to it so they gave me this medicine I mean its not a tablet I that took orally like the flagyl, its called clindesse vaginal cream. I put it inside my vagina for bv. Trust me ive had a hard time even praying nothing bad will happen tp us specially my baby boy! Then after a month I still have it. August.... They had me take this tablet twice a day for seven days... Its called clindamycin HCl!!!
9065649 tn?1418258207 I don't know why they gave you 30 pills bit they most likely prescribed the Flagyl because it is the best thing for treating BV. Clindamycin may work too but it's also recommended that you don't breast feed with it.
Avatar f tn Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
Avatar m tn I recently had a wisdom tooth extraction and was prescribed Clindamycin to prevent the extraction area from becoming infected. I was prescribed this medication on 5/28/2014. I was directed to take it 3x a day until it was all gone. I took it for about a week straight. I noticed while I was on the medication that I had very severe episodes of diarrhea and stomach cramping. I stopped taking the medication as of yesterday.
Avatar f tn I previously took Clindamycin which worked great for a few months, but then stopped working. However, that was before the 2 teeth were pulled. I'm wondering if maybe I should try it again in conjunction with the Augmentin, since it may now have a better chance of working since the 2 teeth were pulled and the bone cleaned out. My oral surgeon would like to try me on clindamycin again, but my infectious disease doctor says the Augmentin should be fighting all of the bacteria.
Avatar n tn The diarrhea wasnt watery or bloody and was once a day. On Thursday (yesterday)I went to the doctor who prescribed flagyl 500mg 3 times a day for what he thought was a bowel infection and requested a stool sample.I took 2 on that day but developed numbness in my right big toe and felt generally unwell. I stopped taking the med's but am not sure that is such a good idea!
Avatar n tn After my hospital stay, I was sent home with Clindamycin and Ampicillin capsules to take for 5 days. I had diarrhea for 4 days straight and called the Dr. She told me to stop taking the medicines immediately. About 4 days later, I was stricken with severe abdominal cramping, nausea and watery diarrhea. I was rushed to the emergency room and had CT scans, abdominal XRays, and stool samples taken. I was diagnosed with C. diff.
Avatar f tn The best two antibiotics to use for the types of bacteria that usually cause bacterial vaginosis, are Clindamycin and Flagyl (metronidazole). Sometimes women have allergies to specific medications and we need to use others that are less optimal, but the best results are usually achieved with the proper antibiotics for the condition. Good luck!
Avatar f tn -Does it matter what kind of underwear I wear? thong vs. normal panties, or cotton vs. other materials, or white vs. colors? -Does it matter what detergent I use, as long as I use the right amount for the right size cycle? -Should I wait until my vaginal area is completely dry before getting dressed after a shower? -If a little diarrhea were to get up near my vagina could that cause bv? -Could using the wrong size tampon cause bv?

Avatar f tn If your taking about bacterial vaginosis (BV) then usually oral medication is metronidazole (Flagyl) or Clindamycin. Vaglinal gels metro-gel, cleocin, clindasee(spelling?
Avatar f tn just got over a five month bout with C Diff myself with relapses (clindamycin caused mine too) and your journey sounds alot like mine. Flagyl failed (failures rising per latest studies) and then went to vanco round, followed by a slow vanco taper. The taper seems to have been the magic bullet for my case. Finished taper and felt "C Diffy" for months afterward, doc attributed it to post infection IBS. Finally back to normal here - but it was a long road to healing.

Avatar n tn Hi there. Well, there is a gold standard for bacterial vaginosis which is flagyl (brand name) and clindamycin. BV is an anaerobic meaning it grows when air isn't present (think moist, warm areas with no air flow). These are only prescribed by a doctor. Yeast is treated differently and yes, can happen due to antibiotic use. But what can you do? If you need them, you need them. Yeast is itchy and clumpy, BV has a bad odor. Yeast can be treated by a doctor or over the counter.

320329 tn?1297768952 Im 30 days out from my last vanco round (did Vanco, then extended Vanco taper after Flagyl failures) and my testing during the entire time has been innacurate - many false negatives with the occasional positive. Im pretty convinced no one ever knows if they are C Diff "clear", as even testing positive for spores doesnt make one ill from the A/B toxins they produce, crazy crazy bug.
