I was diagnosed with a bladder infection and a vaginal infection. I assume its bacterial vaginosis because my doctor prescribed Bactrim and Metrogel. But because I have Raynaud's Syndrome, I can't use Metrogel. So my doctor has now prescribed Cipro. But how would either one help with the vaginosis? And as for the bladder infection, couldn't I just take one because they both treat UTIs?
Diagnosed with cellulitis. I took bactrim 5 1/2 days and then had allergic reaction - burning, needle like, numbing feelings, swelling. Also a few chills. I was told to take benadryl every 4-6hrs, pepcid twice a day. Saw dr. the next day. Was given clindamycin 150mg 4x day and took that for 2 1/2 days and was told to stop because I continued with bad reactions. I am afraid that the bacteria was not killed and will return. What do you all think?
The best antibiotic is probably amoxicillin or clindamycin. Ciprofloxacin would work. I don't usually prescribe bactrim. I don't really prescribe ciprofloxacin either.
I took bactrim and after 5 1/2 days had an intense allergic reaction of a burning sensation, needle pricking and numbness. They put me on clindamycin. I continued to have reactions, so guess they couldn't tell if it was the bactrim still in my system or also being allergic to clindamycin. Anyway, I was on some sort of antibiotic for 71/2 to 8 days. It's been 2 weeks since I stopped the 800mg/160mg 2x a day bactrim and the burning sensation is still there but much milder.
Afternoon. I have had cellulitis in my nose for over a month.... took Bactrim, Clindamycin, and another 5 days of Bactrim.. which didn't help in the first place... but... i have this swollen membrane (i guess) from the tip of my nose about 1/2 inch back... it always feels like it is going to swell up again.... with no insurance another 125.00 is not what I want to pay since it seems like none of that helped anyway... anybody have any thoughts on this one???
About 3 Weeks ago, I noticed a few small clusters(Flea Bite Size) of bumps on my inner-thigh and going around up my buttocks, I waited to see if they go away thinking they were just bug bites and the itching became so unbearable I had to go to the ER, I also don't have insurance till January. The doctor diagnosed me with Folliculitis, I pointed out I had smaller red looking bumps around my belly button and over the top of my thighs.
went to the dentist and he said the infection had gone into my tissue. He put me on Clindamycin on wed.. the lump is still there and the pain had subsided until today. The pain is now really bad. How long does it take for the antibotics to work? have an appt. to have tooth pulled out on the 14th. How long should I give the lump to go down before going to ER for Iv antibiotics?
He put me on different multiple month long trails of clindamycin, bactrim ,Levofloxacin, doxycycline, and and all of them did the same thing, while on them the symptoms go away but as SOON as i finish the dosage the symptoms come right back. He even did test on me where he put me to sleep and looked in my penis with a tiny camera. as well as sent me to a lab where they tested to see if their was a blockage to see if something was blocking my pee passageway. nothing.
Over 10k pics. Clindamycin antibiotic, Muniperosin (spelling off I think)! Followed by bactrim! Just no diagnosis from a dermatologist. Doctors ruined me by refusing help, saying I was crazy. It would take me months to explain the story I'm afraid. I'm going to call a malpractice lawyer, I'm covered in scars. The black specs are finally coming out of skin. Ecthyma. I know it sounds crazy but this has to be it. I was set I had Morgellons. People need to know.
The dermatologist changed my antibiotic from bactrim (which I started Saturday) to doxycycline and told me that because I have been on the bactrim for so long when I had the mastoid infections that I am probably resistant to it. She said I might need to get IV antibiotics in the hospital if things did not improve quickly. I am blind in my left eye and the boil is on the right eyelid. It is on the outside of the eyelid.
When do I make a determination to seek the "hospital route"?
It first appeared back in September but never ruptured, just went away after about a week. This time it ruptured and the doc put me on Bactrim. I had what I feel was an allergic reaction. Fever, rigors, rash etc.
2 days after my risk, wife and I have relations. Next day I had a little itch/feeling in my urethra. This prompted all the anxiety and testing. Came back clean so I went on with life. I have had a continuous irritation at my meatus.
Doc looked and wasnt concerned.
Never breast fed and my kids are both school age now. I am allergic to Penicillins, Flagyl, Clindamycin, and Macrobid.
On christmas eve I woke up with both of my breasts swollen by two cup sizes and with a sore redness on the undersides of both. I went to a walk in clinic because my GP was closed for the holiday and they diagnosed bilateral mastitis and prescribed me bactrim.
10 days later I was no better - in fact I was worse. Now I had headaches, body aches, chills, and nausea.
I agree 100% with what the previous posters have said. Go to an ER. The swelling is not normal. I was on Bactrim for a skin infection and got swelling too. They said it was an allergic rx and put me on Clindamycin.
If they put you on this stuff (very strong) make sure you take a good probiotic with it to prevent getting C-Diff.

Hi everybody, I've been someone who's suffered from acne all throughout my teen years. My worst battle with acne was in early 2016, and just to give a little insight on that phase, my face was completely covered with all kinds of acne, from whiteheads to blackheads to cysts, and it was so painful that I couldn't sleep on my sides comfortably.
My doctor first put me on Bactrim, and I had a rash all over my body and developed a fungal infenction as well. This was on day 8 of 10 on Bactrim. The doctor switched me to Keflex, and this time, that same day I got another rash all over my body. Then, she gave me a cream call Muciprocin, but i've been using it for over a week and see no improvement, although no rashes.
Has this happened to anyone? Are there other antibiotics out there?
i think flagyl n clindamycin is not the best chice for treating it..rather flagyl is not the drug of choice at all in vaginosis..mayb the bacteria have become resistant to it cuz u have been prescribed for it often.. causing recurrency..take co-trimoxazole talblets comes in the market with brand name:
bactrim ,septra..
has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
