Common Questions and Answers about Clindamycin treatment

benzaclin

has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects. HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
I have very sensitive skin with adult onset acne. My doctor has had me on Clindamycin and a seperate Retin A creme which has worked wonderfully. My last visit he would not let me renew my clindamycin prescription because he says they can't due to the MRSA Virus becoming so prevalent. He however could prescribe a benzoyl peroxide clindamiycin mix creme. I am allergic to benzoyl peroxide and cannot use this medicine.
I was given clindamycin for preventative treatment from sinus surgery. For the past four days, I have been having excruciating headaches. I finally bit the bullet and called my ENT. They took me in (six days after my surgery) and tried to clean out my sinuses, but I was in too much pain. They sent me for an emergency CT to check for a CSF leak/aneurysm, and it came back clean. No pain killers treat the headache, I have no infection, and no abnormal blockage from the surgery.
I recently had a wisdom tooth extraction and was prescribed Clindamycin to prevent the extraction area from becoming infected. I was prescribed this medication on 5/28/2014. I was directed to take it 3x a day until it was all gone. I took it for about a week straight. I noticed while I was on the medication that I had very severe episodes of diarrhea and stomach cramping. I stopped taking the medication as of yesterday.
My daughter of 2yrs old has cellulitis and the DR. prescribed her clindamycin she started this treatment 3days ago and all of a sudden her hair is starting to fall out. I tried looking for the side effects but it was telling me basic stuff and it stated that it had more to it I just needed to ask a doctor. So now I'm asking....
I was taking clindamycin 300mg cap every 8 hrs for 7 days for recurring staph boils I had. I finished my course and had diarrhea all week on the med. I thought the diarrhea was normal because it was an antibiotic, but now I still have diarrhea after a week. I feel like it won't go away. The diarrhea is not bloody or mucous like, and I feel no abdominal pain. I'm taking acidophilus and eating plain yogurt. Any suggestions?
Hi, My doctor just called me last night and told me I tested positive for herpes, but asked how I was doing and I said I was still taking the clindamycin phosphate that she had prescribed and she said no don't take that yet, but I already started it... Should I continue use? I am so confused and I still have to schedule a follow up appt. to try and understand all of this. Please help!
Hello, I've been on acne treatment for 7 months, been using Clindamycin, and Ive never felt this great about my skin. My skin has cleared up and i feel wonderful. But ever since ive been on this treatment, I've been experiencing dry lips! So i asked my doctor, and he said the medicine had nothing to do with it. So I've been testing EVERY lip balm, and the reaction i get from these are bumps, swelling, and burning sensation.
Hi all, I just recently got my wisdom teeth out and have been taking Vicodin and clindamycin. (I only took 5 mg of Vicodin today, the rest I have been taking straight ibuprofen. I also took the Vicodin at 7 am.) For some reason, I feel uncomfortably high out of my mind right now and I want to feel back to normal. Any suggestions of something I can eat or drink to make myself come down? Please help! Thank you.
I have googled Clindamycin and found that there is a link between torsades and Clindamycin. Is this drug in the same family as Erythromycin? Should I be safe and stop taking it. I have been taking it for 4 days and have 1 day left. My infection, which wasn't very bad to start with, is now gone. I have been having an increase of bradycardia and PVCs and I am a bit concerned. I don't have an ICD. Thanks for your help.
I reported it to her office and she called back and gave me a prescription for vicodin and clindamycin and ask that I come in after taking 4 Clindamycin capsules 1 hour before an early next week appointment. She then would remove my bridge again and revisit old root canals on both teeth under the bridge and see if there was infection and have to do something (like a new root canal?) and if she had to replace the bridge the total bill would be about $5000.
I went to the dermatologist today for the sores on my face and was prescribed clindamycin. He said this rash/sores could be zits? He looked in his journal and said acne is a symptom of peg. I never heard of that but what do I know? Anyway, I applied the cream and have to admit, it was soothing at first. I've been on the computer all afternoon and could feel my face getting hotter and hotter and assumed it was my fever.
Why not call your dentist for a prescription? Amoxicillin and clindamycin tend to be more effective with oral bacteria.
Clindamycin side effects diarrhea that is watery or bloody; fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, sores in your mouth and throat A side effect is usually regarded as an undesirable secondary effect which occurs in addition to the desired therapeutic effect of a drug or medication. Side effects may vary for each individual depending on the person's disease state, age, weight, gender, ethnicity and general health. dear, drug side effect shows at theraputic dose not in doctors mistake.
Last week, on Tuesday, I had a root canal and was prescribed clindamycin 150mg/3 per day, which I started taking by Thursday. I have been taking them for about a week now while going through some of its most irritating side-effect, diarrhea, for which I will be tested for C-difficil. However, last night I also began to experience some chest pains. I am experiencing them now also, as I just woke up. I have about two days left for this medicine.
Only about a month or two ago, i seemed to be completely clear (besides some scarring) but continued the treatment as my doctor prescribed. The treatment was entirely successful at preventing any kind of breakout (except for one minor one on my chest, which cleared up eventually) but has now ceased to do any help whatsoever. My acne has returned in full force in the last few weeks, and there has been no improvement. Should i stop this treatment and try for a different prescription?
My doctor is starting me on 300mg of clindamycin 4 times a day for a year. I have 3 different bacterias from foot surgery. Isn't this too long to take this drug? I am worried about long term side effects. Has anyone taken this drug for this long?
So, they sent my prescriptions over to the pharmacy and I received Tretinoin gel and Clindamycin with benzoyl peroxide cream. I believe I am supposed to use one in the morning and one at night, but I have no idea which to use when. Which is best for use in the morning and which at night? Do I rub a small amount over the entire face, or Am I supposed to use either of them as a spot treatment? Can I continue to use my regular moisturizer ?
This is most commonly associated with Clindamycin. Flagyl is normally the first-line treatment. Normally, this should relieve the symptoms. If not, there are other treatments available (Vancomycin for instance). 2) Normally, this is curable with the appropriate antibiotics. 3) I am not aware of diet affecting the treatment course. 4) I am not aware of alcohol intake affecting the treatment course. I would discuss this further with your personal physician.
Took 1200mg/day Clindamycin orally for 2 weeks to treat a serious jaw infection after oral surgery. Clindamycin treatment ended August 12. For the rest of August I was under an extreme amount of stress and anxiety, was drinking more heavily than usual, and noticed loose bowel movements 1-2x per day, but I chalked it up to the anxiety and stress. Last day of August I had a noticeable amount of diarrhea followed by some mucous and blood.
Hi ladies, I was just recently put on clindamycin for two weeks. I have had ongoing vaginal problems for months. None of my swabs or cultures show up positive but I have an elevated white blood count. My gynecologist is having me take twice the normal dosage. I have to use two injected suppositores every night instead of one. I currently am suffering from intense burning. Is this normal early on in treatment? Thanks in advance for your help!
I am using bacitracin and neomycin + metronidazole (400mg 2x daily) I hope that works and I will wash with warm water as you suggested. I'm thinking of adding cream clindamycin (eg Dalacin) and will be using the hydrocortisone cream 1% do you think?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out where I want to go next with my treatment. Quick version, I was nailed by lyme last September (personally think i've had it for years), and starting treating this January. So far, I have my brain back and my energy. But, I'm still stuck with a lot of nerve and muscle pain, which has only improved slightly. My doctor commented that this is the complete opposite of how treatment usually goes from what he's seen.

m now 33 and wanting to become pregnant. After 6 months of fertility treatment and 3 endometrial biopsies I have come to a road block. It was discovered that I have endometritis with specifically plasma cells in the endometrial stroma. I was prescribed Flagyl and Metrocondazinole (sorry on the name can’t remember). I took the antibiotics for 1 week and after the treatment the plasma cells and inflammation did not go away from the endometrium.
Any knowledge on how effective clindamycin is with the treatment of chlamydia would be very helpful. Thanks.
Also get some topical antibiotics like Clindamycin and apply it on these acne. If the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed. Accutane should not be used without a dermatologist’s prescription. I suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist before using. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Clindamycin oral, Clindamycin gel, Terconazole, Clotrimazole, Butoconazole, Diflucan, Metro-Gel, birth control pills (my dr. says these can help BV but make yeast worse), acidophilus suppositories and even 650mg of Boric Acid topically for up to 2 months! I eat VERY well, (no junk food, refined food, or sugars), and take lots of acidophilus/eat yogurt with live cultures. My gynecologist is stumped - we've cultured the discharge and it's been neg.
The first time I was treated with oral antibiotics and topical antibiotics which included topical clindamycin. I had a horrible reaction to the oral antibiotics, and ended up being treated for toxic hepatitis. I only used the topical antibiotic afterwards, after having approval by my general practitioner. Of course, the acne went down, it took months. However it started all over again. After a change in antibiotic gel, it calmed down for a year. Until a very large bump showed up recently.
After visiting a physician and having your yeast infection diagnosed as such, you will most likely discuss the following three treatment options antifungal creams and ointments, vaginal tablets (for vaginal yeast infections only, of course) and oral medications. The antifungal creams are very popular - you are probably familiar with such brands as Monistat and Canesten. Vaginal tablets are a preferred choice for women, since they prove to be less messy and troublesome as antifungal creams.
