Avatar f tn I have a root infection lower left tooth, was put on clindamycin 150 mg every six hours and told to take Advil for inflammation. The tooth is still very painful, have been on it for 3 days and they scheduled me for a root canal in 3 1/2 weeks time. Is this normal?
Avatar n tn I have a broken tooth on the bottom molar. went to the dentist and he said the infection had gone into my tissue. He put me on Clindamycin on wed.. the lump is still there and the pain had subsided until today. The pain is now really bad. How long does it take for the antibotics to work? have an appt. to have tooth pulled out on the 14th. How long should I give the lump to go down before going to ER for Iv antibiotics?
Avatar n tn ve never had a tooth extraction while having abscessing going on, and she said it was fine. Tooth was pulled and was sent home with an Rx of Clindamycin (150mg), 4xday. Infection got worse. Dentist, then used a lazer to open and drain the infected area. Several shots (7-8) of novacaine was needed to numb the area. After procedure, my mouth hurt and burned the worst that I've ever experienced before. The infection is still there.
Avatar n tn I had a root canal on tooth 15 and this is my 3rd week of clindamycin and I keep feeling this tingling feeling from my cheek bone to my jaw on the side where the tooth was infected. I guess there was a bad abscess. What could this lead too if not properly taken care of? I'm concerned the infection is in my bone.
Avatar n tn The clinical symptoms will abate a lot faster than the infection that is under the root of the tooth. This will take a long time to resolve if in fact it is going to. I think you are doing the correct thing by having it retreated.
Avatar m tn I have an infection that is being treated with Clindamycin. The doctor who prescribed the medicine thought it was okay to take and the pharmacist said so too. My EP is away right now so I can't clear it with him. I have googled Clindamycin and found that there is a link between torsades and Clindamycin. Is this drug in the same family as Erythromycin? Should I be safe and stop taking it. I have been taking it for 4 days and have 1 day left.
Avatar n tn Hi, Any bacterial infection can lead to collection of pus in the tooth can cause tooth abscess. A tooth infection should be treated appropriately to prevent spread of infection. The usually preferred antibiotics are amoxicillin, clindamycin, penicillins and metrogyl.Azithromycin may raise serum methadone levels and/or increase the effects of methadone. It is advisable to contact a local health care provider. Do write to us again. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn Sometimes with badly decayed teeth, the tooth is the source of infection and will recur as long as the tooth is untreated. Antibiotics do help but only to prevent the infection from spreading, not as a long term solution. Hope you feel better!
Avatar m tn ) On the other hand, would I endanger my health by taking the Clindamycin after so many other recent antibiotic courses (including 16 days of Clindamycin in September)?
Avatar f tn girl sorry you feel so bad happy birthday! Take that tooth out im sitting here with an infection from a root canal the dentist did not detect...10 months my face been swollen and numb...and its because of a root canal i had done years ago...and i brush floss my breath dont stink and i have no bleeding...but now i look like a cancer patient..and i been in the hospital more than 30 time for this infection they couldnt find and try to treat in my face.
Avatar n tn Dentist prescribed Clindamycin 150 mg for 10 days for infection in my tooth. Got hives, rash, swollen lips and extreme itching and blotches from head to toe. Was on vacation so stopped medication after 3 days of taking it. It is now 5 days taking benadryl and the hives and itching have not stopped. What is in the clindamycin that I may be allergic to?
Avatar f tn After amoxicillin and endo retreating tooth, it felt better and fever gone, but 2 days after ending antibiotics, infection returned with intensity, spread along jawline into nearby tooth, causing that tooth to then also need a root canal. I was put back on the same dose of amoxicillin, then tried clindamycin for a few days, but infection continued to spread - a large red hot lump (tablespoon sized) formed on my jawline, just under the 2 affected teeth.
Avatar m tn Sounds like my story! Was given that for a tooth infection, made me sick but told to finish it. I have been sick since and now have major GI problems and have seen numerous doctors and have been to Stanford also. Early on, I was treated for SIBO 3 times, now, they think I have a motility disorder or IBS, which means they don't know. Have constipation and diarrhea problems now and on Linzess. Also had a low ejection HIDA scan that was normal before all this. I feel I'll every day.
Avatar n tn I just finished a course of clindamycin for a tooth infection, and as FTB4 said, it does not interact with levo. Listen to his advice about the probiotic and/or yogurt. Clindamycin messed up my gut worse than any antibiotic I've ever taken (which isn't many). Also, is your sore throat and runny nose due to a bacterial infection? If it's due to a cold or the flu, both viruses, no antibiotic will help it. Antibiotics kill bacteria, not viruses.
Avatar f tn What antibiotic is better to take for a tooth infection/ absess tooth Ciprofloxacin or Bactrim?
Avatar n tn I have a broken tooth , then my Teeth becoming very sensitive and getting pain in jaw because of sensitive it will be infected. The Causes of sensitive teeth include: 1) Poor oral hygiene – This can lead to plaque and tartar build-up, with resultant dental problems. 2) Gum recession – This can occur naturally over time, whereby the gums shrink back to expose the root surfaces.
Avatar f tn My question is I seem to have an absessed tooth I was perscribed clindamycin for it but was told to take 12 pills daily each being 150 mg does this seem normal? I am calling my doctor tomorrow to see what she thinks, just kinda wondered if anyone else has had this issue.
Avatar f tn I have an infection in a tooth that was root canalled many years ago. I have an infection being treated with Clindamycin The tooth is upper right molar #3. If a re-root canal cannot be done, I'd rather not have an apico done, in order to be able to have a better chance of bone for an implant. I will be seeing my endodontist on Monday. I assume that I am running out of options for this tooth??
Avatar m tn Thank you for responding to my question. It has been 12 days since I had root canal on #14. Took Cipro for 7 days. I'm still feeling lpain/discomfort on #14 and try not to chew on that side of mouth. How long does it for root canal to heal? Can and do root canal fail? What are symptoms of failed root canal. At the time of root canal Endodonist put temporary filled on crown. I have appoint with regular dentist for permanent filling in a week.
Avatar n tn On Jan 10 I had a titanium post inserted into my # 30, a previous root canal tooth (from several years ago). The next day I was in pain, and the pain continued to worsen, including some pretty severe jaw pain. The dentist adjusted the bite, then assumed it was infection, so put me on 10 day penicillin. Nearing the end of that, I developed swelling on the outside gum, the dentist put me on 7 day clindamycin.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed clindamycin after experiencing pain in my tooth after a root canal. I took a double dose (600mg) of clindamycin as I missed a dose. I am experiencing severe pain from my chest through to my back. It feels like spasms and is difficult to breath. I normally take nexium on a daily basis; however I missed my dose of that too. I did take my nexium but I have felt absolutely no relief whatsoever.
1839466 tn?1432593084 Last week, i ended up having my first encounter with a abscess tooth. It was and has been horrible. Since then, I have been put on Advil, Hydrocodon-acetanino, and Clindamycin. I've also seen my dentist who started a root canal on the tooth but just drilled a whole, did some drainage, not all, and left a sponge in it so it can fully drain. I'm supposed to go back next week to complete the full root canal.
Avatar f tn My dentist uncovered the implant and did a bone graft over the top of the implant where the infection had eaten the bone away. He soaked it in clindamycin and I took clindamycin orally afterwards. Six weeks after that, I started feeling bad again. My dentist put me on another round of clindamycin coupled with metronidazole. A 3D CONE x-ray showed that there was infection behind the top of the implant. This time, I had an oral surgeon uncover the implant and clean it out.
Avatar f tn While I was there he prescribed pennicillin for a tooth infection. He said if this did not work, he wanted to prescribe Clindymiacin. I explained to him that I had tried that in the past and it made me extremely ill. He said that yes, it could cause some cramping and loose stools, but I would just have to put up with it to get rid of the infection. It did not just cause a little bit of discomfort, I was doubled over in pain!
Avatar n tn I also have had a broken tooth for two years, which swells with infection every few months. Sometimes 6 months between. I finally got insurance, and went to a doctor, who ran blood tests, which showed prolactin is normal, and that I am anemic, but I eat plenty of iron. I also have very irregular periods. Ranging from 3-6 months between cycles. Nothing else looked odd in the blood tests he ordered. 5 levels were off, but all having to do with an iron-deficiency anemia.
Avatar n tn Is it a jaw bone infection? After I had the tooth pulled I was put on clindamycin. I went back to the oral surgeon because the pain is so bad and he said it is healing nicely and gave me Percocet and said to give it a couple more days. It has been a week since I have had the tooth pulled and the pain is getting worse. I am taking 2 Percocet (325) every 4 hours and that isn’t taking the pain away. Only lasts about 2 hours. I can’t live like this, it is terrible. I don’t know what to do.
Avatar f tn t see any overt break and put her on clindamycin for 14 days. I was instructed to watch for infection and she was caught up on all her shots and had a general wellness check up. Can anyone tell me what will happen next? What will happen to her tooth and what happens after the antibiotics are finished? Any tips on what to look for? I sure don't want her in pain. Any information would really be appreciated. Thank you.
