m using the clindamycin lotion twice daily, but progress has sort of plateaued. The clindamycin will get it to the point where it forms some new skin over the top but then starts to crack and peel again, and I'm back to square one.
I've tried every lip balm, at the doctor's suggestion I tried a week of nothing but Vaseline, I've tried days of absolutely nothing, but it just stays every time.

My wife, Nanette, had liposomal doxorubicin or Caelyx for 6 months (equivalent to 6 treatments) and she had skin darkening. We noticed the change in her complexion midway through this regimen. She applies sun block lotion everytime she goes outside. Kindly watch out for PPE / hand and foot syndrome also, although Nanette didn't have this. This is one of the more popular side effects of this drug.

sorry to hear your hubby is having a hard time. sounds like he is having some of the common side effects. There is nothing that can boost platlets but many docs let them go really low before lowering or stopping the meds. Try and get back on the full strength of interferon ASAP!
Probably the most common side effect is the itching. I have it as well and it is horrible. I have found some relief with a prescription med called Atarax.
Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?
has given me 10 days of clindamycin to be taken 3 times a day at a dose of 450 mgs. this is fine, i can take clindamycin with no ill effects.
HOWEVER, i have read that this drug is not commonly used to treat std's as there are so many better options. Is clindamycin going to work??? Thanks.
If you go to chemocare.com you can read all the side effects of Tamoxifen. What you mention are all listed there. The weight gain no doubt is due to fluid retention which is one of the side effects. You might discuss changing drugs with your Oncologist as there are others available but keep in mind that they all have similar side effecfts even though you mjight not experience them to the same degree. went to the dentist and he said the infection had gone into my tissue. He put me on Clindamycin on wed.. the lump is still there and the pain had subsided until today. The pain is now really bad. How long does it take for the antibotics to work? have an appt. to have tooth pulled out on the 14th. How long should I give the lump to go down before going to ER for Iv antibiotics?
